I studied videography and filmmaking in school, and currently create video content, so when choosing my wedding videographer, I had VERY high standards. A few things I was looking for: - Creative + cinematic footage shot from different angles. - Usage of visual footage, music, and audio from vows/speeches to tell a story (which includes rising action and a climax). - Audience retention: keeping my viewers excited the entire length of the film (if the film was going to be 10 minutes long, I wanted my viewers to feel like it was much shorter since they were engaged the entire time, rather than doze off in boredom). - Overall I wanted someone to create a cinematic film rather than just a video. Where do I start. Photo and Cinematography are probably one of our priorities when we were just planning our wedding. And I know a lot of brides out there had the same feeling of getting overwhelmed when it comes to deciding who to hire. I mean it's your wedding day you only want the best. My husband, having a background in photo and films, was very particular on how our wedding photography and Cinematography should look like. We browsed several vendors and some of them just puts most photos and no emotions to it and one literally captured an elbow of a 3rd person on their first look. Where do I even start with this review???? I will start off by saying that hiring Aperina Studios was the BEST decision that I have made throughout all of the planning I have done for my engagement and wedding. If I could give this team more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. Choosing, hiring, and meeting with vendors is undoubtedly the most stressful part of planning an engagement and/or wedding, and, as such, choosing a photographer and videographer was extremely daunting. I was especially nervous, as I am not the most photogenic person and do not feel comfortable having my picture taken. However, from our very first phone call with Vitaliy, my fiancé and I immediately felt at ease. He was ecstatic and passionate about his craft, and we ended the phone call feeling so excited for Aperina to shoot us for our engagement shoot and engagement party. During our actual engagement shoot, Paul and Vitaliy were both amazing at making my fiancé and I feel comfortable and confident. Paul and Vitaliy directed us on how to pose and never once did it feel awkward or strange. A couple of weeks later, when Paul and Vitaliy showed us a preview of our photos and trailer, though they were absolutely epic, I realized I hated my makeup in the photos. I reached out to Aperina about my concerns, and Paul immediately responded within minutes and suggested we do a second shoot. We also had a phone call a couple of days later where Vitaliy went over edits that could be made to the trailer so that I would absolutely love it. Still to this day, I am astounded at how above and beyond Aperina went to make sure I loved my end product, and they have continued to do nothing but that the entire time I have have had the pleasure of knowing them. Fast forward to our engagement party, the photos and videos are out of this world. If my review hasn't convinced you to pick up the phone and book Aperina already, then my pictures will. Paul, Vitaliy, and their entire team captured every single detail of our engagement party, which is no easy task considering our engagement party was 450 people. We received our photos and videos so much faster than we were expecting, and we were stunned by the end product. We received so many more photos than we were expecting, and Paul and Vitaliy captured all of the special moments of our ceremony. To this day, almost a year from my engagement party, I get emotional watching my engagement trailer and documentary edit. Choosing Vitaliy and his crew at Aperina was hands down the BEST decision we made for our wedding day. No matter the time or day, Vitaliy always responded within 6-12 hours - the fastest of any vendor we hired. He was honest, laid back and respectful of every detail we communicated to him and after just one call, everything turned out perfect! Wedding planning can be chaotic, but I always looked forward to my interactions with Aperina knowing that I'd walk away feeling more confident and excited about the video, but also the wedding as a whole. On the big day, Aperina went above and beyond, surprising us with an additional shooter. Their coordination across a large winery venue was insane. At one point they had a shooter with the drone, one up on a hill, one up close and one to the side. They directed us where to go, what to do and integrated flawlessly with our photography team. In fact, when one of our photographers had an emergency, Paul stepped in and covered until backup arrived. Their patience and flexibility put us at ease, even when things didn't go as planned and we appreciated it so much. Our short film arrived EARLY and is absolutely incredible! I LOVE Aperina Studios. Vitaliy and crew filmed our wedding and did such an incredible job. Honestly, of all the vendors we worked with, Aperina Studios stands out as my favorite. They were communicative, humble, friendly, professional, and rockstars of their craft. I am so grateful and in awe of the film they put together for us. The first film that I saw from Aperina Studios, back when my husband and I were trying to nail down the type of wedding that would be meaningful to us, was of an elopement. It stole my heart and brought me to tears. It was so intimate, I felt honored to get to watch that film. We knew instantly that was the type of wedding ceremony we would want, and only Aperina Studios could be the one to document the day. In fact, they were the first vendor I contacted--and I planned the wedding date once I confirmed a date that would work for them! We had worked out with Vitaliy that we would have two receptions a month after our wedding, and that we would need the film done by then, so we could show the film to our guests. We got married at Nella Terra Cellars in June of 2018 and had Aperina studios as our wedding videographer. We planned our own wedding and selected all of our vendors extremely thoroughly. In terms of video style, we didn't know what we were looking for, but after watching many, many videos we decided we wanted a video that was cinematic, timeless, and personal. Many companies out there excel at one or two, but it was hard to get all three. Demonstrated quality of work was key, but also equally important to us was passion, and with this framework we ended up with amazing vendors as a result. From a long list of videographers, we narrowed it down to Aperina and a few others based the consistent quality of videos on their Vimeo page, and not just their websites, which can be selective. After getting on a video conference call with Vitaliy, we could really tell that he is completely dedicated to his craft and loves going out and making awesome videos with the best gear he can get his hands on and the most advanced techniques. You can also see signs of this through his blog, where he writes informative posts to help other videographers and you can see his team pushing the envelope with really creative things like same-day edits that transition to live footage for the guests. On the day of the wedding, Vitaliy arrived early and brought 3 of his brothers with him which was a very nice surprise since it was one more assistant than we had expected, and allowed them to get even more shots. All four of them were extremely courteous, professional, and worked effortlessly together. Despite our tight schedule, they were able to divide and conquer, capturing the bride and groom and everything else in between without having to take attention away from Vitaliy. This allowed Vitaliy to operate with complete focus and be creative. Our wedding happened to be on a very hot day where everyone was trying to hide in whatever shade they could find, but Vitaliy and his team were out there running around, up and down big hills carrying their gear to get in the right positions for all of the shots they wanted. We really admired their energy, their ability to work together with each other, and their ability to work collaboratively with our photographers. We received many compliments from our guests on their professionalism. The turnaround time for our video was very quick, and we were emotional and blown-away watching it the first time. We absolutely love it and feel it is very unique to our wedding and captures the day perfectly. The music was spot-on, and they incorporated the vows, speeches, details, guests, dancing, and romantic moments so artfully. We are so glad we went with Aperina because their passion showed both on the day of the wedding and in the final video. Aperina withstood all of our pandemic wedding changes (3 date changes!) and produced not only a beautiful short video, but also incredibly thoughtful and well put together longer videos for us too! Vitaliy is just such a natural storyteller and knew exactly what moments to include to make us laugh, cry, and relive all of the best moments of our wedding. He was also SUPER patient in working with me to include part of my mom's speech, which was in a language he didn't even know (which meant lots of back and forth edits to get the timing of the audio 100% right, and he never once made me feel like I was asking too much). Aperina Studios are the most hardworking, talented crew you could ever find. I originally booked them for a huge Indian Wedding in California before Covid hit. They were by my side through the multiple changes, and flew out to our smaller wedding in Iowa to capture the day. They are knowledgeable and precise in everything. Their work speaks for itself, we received absolutely gorgeous photos backs, alongside breathtaking videos. On the wedding day, we could see how hard they work. They were running around everywhere getting the perfect shots, and knew the exact places where we could shine. As someone who is very self conscious in photos and videos, I felt like a beautiful bride, and the pictures and videos turned out to be everything I hoped for and more. They are worth every penny. WOW!! Paul is so amazing!! His work is out of this world beautiful and his personality is just as wonderful!! I feel like we've known Paul forever now just based on how he interacts with us and our guests at any of our events. We have had the pleasure of working with Paul for several family events, and let me just say, he is so down to earth! We recently used Paul for my son's 1st birthday party and the pictures are so beautiful! I'm having a very hard time picking my favorites to use in an album because I love them all! He contracted us 300 pictures that would be touched up and edited, but he ended up delivering us 400-450 (with no extra charges!). We hired Aperina for solely photography on the day of our wedding- now, our pictures are VERY beautiful and we love them. But the reason I am giving 2 stars instead of 5 is for the customer service. Firstly, like a few of the other couples have noted here, we didn't get our pictures for almost 5 months after our wedding, although Paul said 2-3 months after the wedding we should get them. And this was after multiple attempts at contacting Paul. He didn't reply at first and then several texts later, he finally did. He gave unrealistic deadlines that were not met and his lack of communication was extremely frustrating. Secondly, he was not the friendliest to work with. My parents did hire a second photographer for part of the ceremony and Paul did well working with another team although it was inconvenient for him; however, his demeanor appeared irritable and perhaps this was just his personality but it really doesn't help when you're the bride and hoping to see smiling faces on your vendors. Finally, not once did Paul ask if my husband and I would like to get a picture with my mother and father in law alone - so we have plenty of them with the rest of the family but none with just them and honestly that was pretty upsetting. As the bride, I was really hoping my photographer would have taken care of this issue but there waslittle to no prep work done and that was upsetting, especially for the prices they charge. Overall, for the price, there are many things that need to be worked on, especially the customer experience. Perhaps I would have had a different experience if we had hired them for all our events and videography; I hope this honest review helps those looking for vendors for their wedding! read more

My mother in law was recommended Aperina Studios by our family friend who had their amazing wedding photography and videography from Paul and Vitaliy, and this team definitely exceeded our expectations! I had a call with Paul several weeks before our wedding and went over every detail of our 4 day wedding celebration. He asked all the right questions and wanted to make sure he captured what my husband and I valued most for our wedding. During the wedding week, Paul and his team knew exactly where to be and what photos to take. My husband and I rarely take photos and are completely clueless on how to pose, so we appreciate Paul directing us from the angle of our chin down to the placement of our fingers. Vitaliy and his team captured so much footage behind the scenes that I was floored when we saw our final wedding video! There were drone shots of the Bay Bridge, crane footage of my cousins' dance, action shots of the dance floor, and much more that captured the essence of our wedding. It's true what people say - the wedding happens so quickly that by the end of it, you can't remember all the details with the adrenaline and excitement. This review is for the day of our wedding and the days leading up to the wedding... We had originally fallen in love with a different photographer/videographer company...but unfortunately, our budge didn't allow for his work. We were then referred to Aperina by a dear friend, who has a complete understanding of my high expectations. Prior to meeting the guys, we had done extensive research on the studios and were nervous since the only reviews we saw were from the videographer's wedding....but we decided that we would at least give them a meeting to see if it would be worthwhile. We met Paul & Vitaliy at a local coffee shop and we began to discuss what we were looking for. We explained our theme ("Broadway Theme") and that we didn't want our wedding to be just another wedding. Paul & Vitaliy took the time to understand our journey to love and what we wanted for that day. They had even provided us some great ideas that we didn't even consider and we actually incorporated them into our wedding (a Broadway poster that guests would sign in lieu of a guestbook was one of the biggest talking points for our guests). Their prices were extremely reasonable for us, and we booked them about 18 months before our wedding. One of the biggest "projects" for our wedding was a love story (a video about how the couple fell in love) that was combined with a Same Day Edit Video (A video created from all of the events of the wedding day). Vitaliy was so flexible and met with us on 2 different occasions for different portions...one was to interview just my husband and myself and the second time was to film some of our closest friends and family (he didn't even charge us extra for this). I still tear up when I watch it and everyone said that it was amazing!!!! Paul (Aperina's photographer) was amazing as well! He was very patient with us during our engagement photo session (my husband doesn't like photos and it took 3 hours to get him relaxed). He was very creative and was a lot of fun to work with. It did take about 3 months for our engagement photos to get to us, but definitely worth the wait. On the day of our wedding, he did an amazing job capturing the energy of the day. While I have not seen a lot of the photos yet (we got married April 13, 2014), the "sneak peek" pictures that have been edited have been amazing! The only critique that I do have is that it did take them a little longer to communicate (i.e. emails would be responded to within 2-3 days), which I can definitely understand how that can make other brides nervous. As long as you are o.k. with this (which I was completely fine with...I had plenty of other things that were on my wedding planning plate), then you will have a great experience. Since we are starting the "post wedding" stuff, I can't really vouch for this. So I will write another review once everything has been completed! read more

I had the worst experience with both Paul (who always seemed to be on vacation and unable to get my pictures) and Vitaly who blamed everything on Paul and their computer always crashing. So here i am years later and still no pictures still told that their computer crashed yet again.... All the planning that goes into a wedding is lost on those two!!!!!!!!! They did give me samples but it turned out not to be my wedding (someone else's dress flowers etc.) Do not go with that company their is no integrity with those two!!!!! read more

My review is for the photography services of Aperina Studios. We had Paul the photographer come to San Diego for our wedding because I have about 4 years of professional photography experience under my belt and the local San Diego photographers were no more different from one another besides their logos. Paul's work, style and passion was screaming at me from the first glance so I knew this was the man for the job. As with any photographer we did pay for his flight hotel and lodging arrangements which I believe is totally fine. Now I don't know about the other reviewers on yelp or what their definition of "customer service excellence" is but being a customer service professional who is extremely picky and demanding Paul has met and exceeded all expectations from basic things like making me pose and smile to just being a super fun and pleasant wedding guest who we actually had fun with!!! The long story short my friends, if you want a photographer who knows what's up, talented, reasonable, responsible, punctual, who will treat you like a million bucks and make you look like a billion, go with Paul! PHOTOGRAPHY - BEYOND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Another photographer that we tried to book for taking pictures of our wedding was unavailable for our wedding date so he recommended to us Aperina Studios - the photographer Paul Lyubezhanin. We looked at Aperina's website and met with Paul (photographer). In general their photos are pretty nice. We signed a contract with them and paid 50% deposit fee (as required upfront by their contract). We failed to note that the contract did not have any written commitment date for when all the pictures post the wedding would be given to us. When we mentioned to Paul that we'd like to add a commitment date in the contract he refused to redo the contract and assured us verbally that we would get our wedding pictures in 3 months post the wedding. We took him at his word. BIG MISTAKE for US! Before the wedding we communicated with Paul (via email, phone calls, and text messages) and had him meet our families (he was invited to our Wedding Rehearsal), we provided a hotel for the photographer since our wedding was not in the Sacramento area, we had the photographer and his assistant served as a guest at our wedding. Paul was very creative in posing us and taking lots of pictures in general. It was easy to work with him the day of our wedding. All the trouble started after the wedding... After the wedding we wrote a general thank you note (via email) to Aperina and noted that we would anticipate receiving our pictures within 3 months as agreed upon. Paul was slow in his response yet confirmed that was the deal. After 3 month had gone by we email him asking if he had the photos ready... he did not respond. The following week we emailed him again to see if the photos were ready... again no reply. My husband started calling him and emailing him at least 2 times each week asking when our photos would be ready. It was extremely difficult to get any response from Paul. So we turned to his brother, Vitaly, who does video for Aperina to follow-up with Paul. Vitaly was very annoyed that we were seeking his help to contact Paul yet he got Paul to reply to us. Paul said he was not ready with the pictures. We continue to email, text, and call him for another 3 months (6 months post our wedding) and he was not responsive. We felt like we were cheated and that we'd never get our wedding pictures. My husband advised with our lawyer to see what can be done on the legal side. We contacted Paul again via email (now 6 months after our wedding) stating that if he does not give us our wedding pictures we would press charges against their business and he would have to deal with our lawyer. I guess this did it. Paul scheduled to meet with us within 2 weeks to provide to us a DVD with all of our wedding pictures. We met with him and paid the rest of the contract fee. We NEVER want to have anything to do with APERINA in the future. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS DUE TO THEIR UNPROFESSIONAL HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. STAY AWAY FROM THEM! Your wedding is a big life event. You should not have to follow-up with a photographer and beg them to live up their part of the contract. Hire someone more professional and get your wedding pictures on time. read more

Two and a half years later, we still receive compliments for our videography and photography. People we do not even know remember us because of Aperina! When my brother gets married, no questions asked, it will be Aperina we hire. When I have children and finally decide to start taking annual family photos - I would like it to be Aperina. They are hands down the best team, full of talent. When they are at your events, you do not even know they are there!
