Ty was crucial for our apartment search. My wife and I are from out of town and the advice he gave about value and neighborhoods in Houston was invaluable. I learned a ton just talking to him on the phone about what prices would be based on and immediately felt like I had a better handle on the market. The lists he sends are detailed and easy to parse, regarding apartment size and availability. I tried using another similar service in Houston and it was hands off and the list of places was not nearly as thorough. I highly recommend using Ty. read more

The process of moving to Texas from California could have been stressful and time consuming. Ty made my moving experience fun and stress-free. He pays attention to your apartment wants/needs and provides you with more than enough options. I appreciate his honesty regarding safe areas around Houston, as this was quite important to me. I used his services again when I moved a second time within the Houston area and he was just as efficient and helpful as the first time. I have happily referred others to Ty for apartment locator services and I will continue to do so! read more

I was lucky enough to meet Stephanie MoDavis when visiting an apartment. She asked us what we were looking for, provided us with recommendations and made initial calls to the apartments to smooth everything over. She was able to follow up with the realtors... things that became too overwhelming for me. She was responsive to our needs and timeline. Very grateful to have met her. I highly recommend her. *** TY IS SIMPLY THE BEST *** I was able to secure a Houston lease without leaving my residence in Oakland CA. For FREE! After a thorough phone interview, Ty began a stream of emails with listings that met my needs. Literally within days I had found a great apartment. Ty was very efficient and informative throughout the whole process. He works hard to make sure he can find the best apartment with the most reasonable rent in a safe neighborhood for his clients. This is my first apartment in Houston and it would have been harder to navigate through all of my choices without Ty's help. He also gives his clients a rebate, which not many new realtors will do. When I decide to get another place, I will be sure to contact Ty again. read more

I used Apartment World to find my current residence. Ty Counts was AWESOME! He is super responsive, friendly, helpful, and most importantly very knowledgeable. He was able to find us lots of apartments with the exact things we wanted all within our discussed budget too. We were able to find what we wanted pretty quickly and move in quickly too. All the places we visited seemed to know Ty well and all spoke positively about him. This just added more comfort to the situation, as it showed he had longstanding positive relationships with several apartments. All services are free to us, so why not take give him a quick call and let him do the work! Ty went above and beyond with some things we had in place, and even followed up a year later to check in on me! HE IS GREAT! read more

After fifteen years in the same place I finally had to move and the prospect of finding a new place that would meet my needs was daunting to say the least. After going over a number of different locators I was impressed by the consistent number of 5-star reviews for Ty Counts with Apartment World. He did NOT disappoint and he had such a warm, approachable, and witty style about him. What I expected to be a stressful process ended up being one of the most fun experiences ever! I cannot recommend him highly enough. I am 110% satisfied with the new apartment complex I signed with and I probably wouldn't have found them on my own. Thank you, Ty!! read more

I needed an apartment due to a recent job transfer. As usual, I looked to yelp for recommendations for an apartment locator service. I called Ty at Apartment World and explained what I needed in terms of size, location, and amenities. When I tell you he was able to find exactly what I needed the same day, I'm not exaggerating! Ty is PHENOMENAL!!! I highly recommend him to anyone in the market for real estate. If I could add another star I would, because Ty truly exceeded my expectations. read more

I knew I wanted to move to Texas from out of state and I was looking into different places to see which would be the most appropriate fit for my family. There were so many more places than I ever thought there would be. It became overwhelming and in the some moments I even thought about reaching out to realtors or other services to get some help. I read some reviews and someone had mentioned Ty Counts from Apartment World. I ended up filling out the application, thinking really nothing of it and continuing my search for an apartment in Texas. Ty actually texted me and we got on a call where we talked about what my picks were, what was I looking for, and time frame. It was a super friendly conversation and he definitely got sassy at times. The conversation was enjoyable and I left that call having a better idea that it was a good thing to reach out to him (my first pick was in a seedy area, and me not being from the area, was nice to know). He ended up sending me a list of potential areas I'd be interested in, keeping in mind my budget and safety concerns. He also provided a map of the area where he thought would be the best bet and safe. My family and I went through the list and settled on like top 12 places. Then we got applying to places and let Ty know. While we were approved for the first place (seedy one) we decided against it based off the neighborhood map Ty had provided and I didnt like how they nearly took a month to confirm things. Plus their rates changes, but the website wasnt updated? The second place we applied we did get accepted but not for their Essential Housing Program rate, which would put us over budget so we chose not to go with them. The third place we applied to we were also accepted but they told us they would not have our unit ready and wanted us to take another unit that was more expensive. This was frustrating and I had communicated to Ty. He had recommended we send CMRRR letter to them to demand our deposit back as these individuals were unable to promise us our unit. Unfortunately we didnt get our money back from that place but ultimately we did decide to go with our current place. Ty did let us know that this place has a way better management! I highly recommend reaching out to Ty if youre in the process of applying to several places in the Houston area. It was so reassuring to have someone who had in depth knowledge of the area. Ty was extremely candid and communicative, very wiling to people and to help you find a place. Wen we finally signed all the necessary paperwork and such he cheered for us as well (he actually sent a video of him dancing, he has some moves for sure). He's a great guy. Plus, if you do end up finding a place, you could get a rebate offer which is pretty neat! read more

Don't waste your time with this company, they are a SCAM !! They advertise apartments with prices that are not. I sent a request and I received an email, so I called them and answered me Tirey Counts after a while and knowing who 'am was, he started asking me questions and I told him that I was only interested in the apartment that they were promoting at the price they advertised and what What he did was hang up the phone, I thought he had cut off but he no longer answered me which indicates that they are not only a scam, they are opportunists trying to gamble and you will only waste your time. I think that Property owners (landlords) should be more careful to What companies worked, I would never make a deal with a umprofesional idiot liar. read more

Ty helped me tremendously with finding an apartment in the area I wanted, even as the rental market became more hostile than ever before. Faced with one bedrooms costing upwards of $1400, Ty was able to find me clean, affordable housing in many areas including the Beltway, Stafford, & Rosenberg. He also sent me a crime map & helped me understand better the ins & outs of housing laws. He sent personal emails to the apartments that he compiled for me to see if they had available units. Truly, Ty chooses excellence in his work, & because of that, I was able to find a place I really like. A good reminder is that Ty (or any apartment locator) does not set rent prices & is merely searching FOR you. This seems to be a misconception among some negative reviews. The locating service is free &, unfortunately, actually obtaining housing is not. Ty is helpful, kind, & also sent a rebate check once I lived at my apartment for a bit. I definitely recommend utilizing his real estate savvy. read more

Ty made finding an apartment quick and easy. I'd recommend him to all of my friends and family!

1000/10 recommend using Ty to help locate your new home/apartment! I was so overwhelmed trying to find a nice, safe and affordable apartment moving to Houston for the first time. Fair warning; I was very overwhelmed my the amount of resources sent to us initially via email but Ty was always available by phone and very responsive to our questions and concern when we finally narrowed down our choices. Ty is ABSOLUTELY the best locator in Houston. I first met him in 2011, when I was moving from Los Angeles to Houston. I had everything setup with management at the new apartment to make the move in as smooth as possible. At the last minute, there was a "hiccup" with my move in. Stressing out, I called Ty to tell him what I was told. He immediately called the apartment manager and got things squared away fast! He called me back later and let me know not to worry and have a good move in. :) Ty is a really great guy who really cares about his clients. I recommend to everyone I know in and moving to Houston. I've moved up north to DFW, but if I ever move back, he'll be my first call for sure. read more

Don't do it by yourself. Contact Ty. He'll very responsive and will call or email you with an hour or less. read more

After living in many cities around the world, I have a pretty skeptical view of the Houston lifestyle. In nearly a microsecond, Ty had us sorted and situated in what is easily the best place I have ever lived. As an Austinite, I can only say it is a near miracle that Ty was able to find us a place in what is practically the last apartment in Houston that is just perfect. Oh and his mandarin is embarrassingly good. My wife now points to Ty as proof that gringos can speak Chinese well. Thanks for that. In all seriousness, I will make a point of recommending him to ANYONE that is headed to Houston. Thank you for solving our problems! read more

We were introduced to Ty Counts at Apartment Stop (= Apartment World) when we were in process of deciding on moving to Houston from Amarillo. Having lived in Houston twenty years ago, we had some idea of possible locations but no concept of rental rates, neighborhood trends or current amenities. Ty was a godsend furnishing extensive listings of availabilities and rates as well as current information on each neighborhood. Using Ty's information, we were able to narrow our search and negotiate an attractive lease at a great apartment. The entire process took two days. Ty is easy to work with: knowledgeable and accessible but did not interfere with or intrude on our decision making process. Our questions were quickly answered. Ty did everything he said he would do and was paid by our new apartment - quite a deal. I anticipate using Ty's services when it is time to renegotiate our lease. read more

I was introduced to Ty through a good friend and I had to move within 5 days from my previous apartment. I called him and told him about my situation and he had a list was sent to me within 4 hours. This included all my preferences (Cost, Community etc. ). He also suggested a few apartments from those (No not because he was getting a better rebate, infact he was getting lesser than the rest) which narrowed my search and finally landed up with a great apartment within 3 days. He has a "Ty Quality formula" ( You should listen to it - totally worth it, and I do not want to give it away) and a community map which will give you all the information about the future community/apartments you wish to move into (includes the list of Crimes, Threats, Recreation, Pro's Con's etc and even a graphical representation of Sex offenders). All this is free with a X% of rebate which you will receive. If you are looking for quality, professional experience Ty is your man. I would seek his help any day and have recommended him to many of my friends. read more

Ty, I expect to know by tomorrow if I've been approved for the apartment at the Esplanade. Of course, there should be no problems since I have good credit, make more than enough money, have great rental history, have no criminal record, and mentioned your name on the application! I'm not sure how the average Houstonian responds to the idea of having an apartment broker (is that the right term) help them find their new home, but coming from New York City, it's normal and you were anything but normal! Cora (my partner) and I both agree that you did an exceedingly great job helping us, demonstrating patience, guiding us selflessly into a place you though fit out desires regardless of it's impact on your pocketbook (or wallet?) and we are more than grateful for your help! Please feel free to share our testimony as you see fit. And keep up the great work! Best regards, Angela and Cora read more
