Once you get to the front door you are greeted by the hostess where you walk through a short hallway to the main bar area that is surrounded by shelves filled with pottery. The interiors are stunning!! We were seated in their outdoor patio area, which is absolutely beautiful. This area has a cozy fire pit area for lounging and hanging out with friends and is surrounded by small tables for romantic dinners or larger tables for groups. Either way it is romantic and the backdrop is a spectacular fountain with 3 whale tails as sculptures! The music is clubby and fun! Tonight our sever was Thomas and he was so good! He greeted us shortly after we sat down and got our drink orders. . He also told us at this point all the specials for the night. He gave us time to think over our choices and came back with the cocktails to get our orders. Then he coursed out everything perfectly. We started with tonights special of Toro and added Hamachi off the menu. Those were spectacular not only in presentation but taste! and the fish extremely fresh! Three of the four of us had a shrimp and crab enchiladas, all the other had the grilled chicken. All the portions were perfect and very flavorful! Overall, everything about this restaurant was spectacular including the two cats that wander through the restaurant. They only come over if you invite them, and they are adorable. I'm not sure if they're there all the time but they were there tonight.

Absolutely love Comal! Definitely a restaurant to make a point to visit during your next trip to…read moreLos Cabos. We actually stayed at Auberge and had opportunity to try Comal a few times: breakfast, large family dinner, and more intimate/romantic couple dinner. Comal is absolutely perfection in its aesthetic and design. All details have been very intentionally implemented. Every single person there is inviting/welcoming and warm. The servers mastery of the menu and cuisine is fantastic. Their cocktails are creative and full of fresh ingredients. Absolutely delicious. Extensive wine list with ability to pair nicely with all of their dishes. Their crudo list is delectable. The Kampachi is a MUST!! Not a huge fan of the tuna tostada, but instead go for the tuna sashimi with ponzu! Incredible! Sea scallops and oysters! For apps, go for Doraditos, rib eye quesadilla, empanadas, etc. All the main courses are fabulous. Personally, when I'm in Baja, have to go with fresh Totoaba. Their Totoaba is incredible. Cooked with the skin crusted so you can eat absolutely the whole fish filet. However, can't go wrong with all of the main options, whether fish or meat. Hands down an incredible experience and can't wait to go back!!!

They had us pre-order all of our menu items, and we had two people who had a family emergency who couldn't make it. I asked the server if we could cut it down to which they were fine with, and I asked her if our order was a reasonable amount of food for six people. She said the portions were small and this was a reasonable order. She also mentioned the shrimp was very small came with three pieces each so we needed two for the party. After seating at 8:30, we did not get any food until 9 pm, one hour after our reservation, even though everything was pre-ordered. There is no reason to pre-order if you can't get the food out in a reasonable timeframe. On top of that, we had to ask multiple times for blankets, water glasses weren't refilled, and things were forgotten. By this point, our celebrant had gotten very tired and was falling asleep waiting for all of our food. Our entrees came, and it was an extreme amount of food for 6 people. They gave us an extra entree that we did not order and they were insistent that we did. After checking our pre-order email, we did in fact only order one. The shrimp actually came with 4-5 pieces, so we didn't need two orders. While the food was great, the lack of service, bad time management, and inattentiveness to the whole meal was not appreciated. Be aware if you're booking a large party. Giving a second star for the good food.

The only sit-down restaurant at the Hyatt Vacation Club at Sirena del Mar, Estrella serves all…read morethree meals of the day, each with a slightly different menu. Prices are comparable to other hotel restaurants, and the service and food quality was OK. We had spent the afternoon at the nearby beach until sunset, so ended up eating dinner a bit later than we got used to during our trip. Estrella has a large dining space, both inside and out. It was a bit humid to enjoy the outside, so chose to sit inside. There weren't many customers, so got identified quickly and seated. It was night, so the only views were of the lighted courtyard. Service was prompt throughout. The mango frozen margarita (MX$360) looked interesting so got one of those, along with a 1 L bottle of Fiji water (MX$170). I know I need to get used to paying for water for dine-in in Mexico, but only having Fiji available in the restaurant seems manipulative. The margarita was excellent. Our server recommended to us to get the special of the night: a three course meal with main entree of a trio of chicken, shrimp, and bacon-wrapped filet medallion (MX$741). I wanted to try seafood, so got the Tuna tower (MX$380). The first course (a really good spinach salad) and the tuna tower came out first. The tower was tasty...the chef had done a really good job of chopping all the ingredients into equal diced pieces; the fresh and delicious avocado put it over the top. The tuna quality was what it is...not great but didn't really mind. The main entree came a bit later, and my wife enjoyed it (we were both really hungry)... I got to sample some pieces. The shrimp was the best part, small size but perfectly grilled with just the right amount of salt to bring out the great shrimp flavor. The chicken was overcooked, resulting it being dry and a bit chewy. The beef was not great: it wasn't filet mignon, but another part of the loin. The bacon was an afterthought and didn't really impart any flavor, with the wooden toothpicks (to hold the bacon in place) still imbedded in the steak, which is just a mistake...a really good steak knife will cut right through it, and then you are eating wooden toothpick pieces imbedded in random steak bites. But the portions were good to be a filling meal, with a good mashed potato as base. We also got a thick chocolate mousse for dessert, which we enjoyed. Guests of the resort get a 'discount' card...ours was 10% off of food (not including alcohol) at resort restaurants. When I let our waiter know before our dessert came, our waiter strongly told me that 'specials' are not part of that, like I should have known that already. When the bill came, he pointedly showed me that he had correctly applied the discount to only tuna tower and water. He was right, but his attitude was wrong. We charged it to our room, gave a minimal tip, and left.

The tables are scattered throughout the trees and bushes with plenty of space between them lending to the romantic atmosphere. There is an amazing bar wrapped around a gigantic beautiful tree that is a sight to behold. We ordered cocktails with the appetizers and wine with the main course. The cocktails were outstanding and the local wine that we chose was as well. The food is all amazing and beautiful and served family style. The servers were young and extremely polite and knowledgeable. They can recommend the number of dishes needed to share with the table. We tried four of their appetizers. We started with the Blue corn and organic whole wheat with a puree of seasonal vegetables as well as cucumber caviar, a tomato salad and a beet salad. All of them were flavorful with beautiful presentation. Our main courses were steak, ravioli and oysters. Again, the presentation and flavors were phenomenal. We ended with two desserts, a soufflé and a chocolate cake both came with ice cream and they were both delicious!
