Our experience with the San Tan Youth Football League leadership left us feeling disheartened, not because of wins or losses, but because of what our kids were exposed to. This is no way a reflection on the Bulldogs! There GMs and coaches have been amazing and supportive. Throughout the season and past years we've played, there were multiple instances of inconsistent officiating and decisions that appeared to favor certain teams. In a league meant for young athletes, this sends the wrong message. These kids train hard, show up with heart, and deserve a level playing field where effort and sportsmanship matter more than favoritism. Parents invest a great deal of time, money, and trust into these programs. We expect transparency, accountability, and fair treatment for all teams. When that trust is broken, it takes away from what youth sports should represent--growth, confidence, and learning valuable life lessons. I truly hope the league leadership reflects on these concerns and makes changes to ensure a FAIR, respectful, and positive experience for every player and family moving forward. I hope they hold the refs accountable for their actions and stand behind the children.

STYFL MISSION STATEMENT AND PHILOSOPHY IS JUST A FACADE!!!…read more On December 13, 2025, during the Bulldogs vs. Blue Devils game, I witnessed firsthand how poorly this league is officiated. The referees did not allow the kids to play a fair game- instead, it felt like they were playing against the refs themselves. The league owner has shown time and again that he doesn't care about which team plays the best; he only cares about who has the deepest pockets. My family member has been part of this league for over four years, and issues with biased officiating have been consistent. Now that he is in D5, it's even more obvious that the adult referees favor certain teams. When concerns are brought to the owner, nothing is corrected. These are kids who have practiced and competed all year, working hard to reach the championship. To have their dream taken away by unfair officiating is unacceptable. If you're looking for a fair league where your child can truly excel, look elsewhere. If you're comfortable with favoritism, unfair play, and watching kids lose faith in fairness, then this is the league for you. This review is directed at the SanTan Youth Football League itself and not at the individual clubs, organizations, or coaches of the specific teams.

I spoke with Coach Rizzo on several occasions about it, and he kept trying to push us to the summer camp group sessions, which I made clear I did not want. Eventually, Coach Rizzo agreed to private lessons, and I registered and paid the $414 for 6 weekly lessons. After the first lesson, Coach Rizzo suggested we join the group sessions, which I took to mean in addition to the private lessons. Yesterday, we showed up for lesson #2, and Coach Rizzo was not there. When I texted him, he said he transferred us to the group sessions in lieu of private lessons, and when I objected and requested a refund, he said they don't issue refunds. So, it was a bait and switch, and I'm out hundreds of dollars. Their website says they offer private soccer lessons, but only if your child is good enough, apparently, yet they will gladly take your money and provide nothing in return. It should be noted we did attend a trail group session before registering AND PAYING FOR private lessons and then a group session after the first private lessons. We were less than impressed. The teenage coaches kept the kids in a tiny practice space, no even large enough to run in, and did extremely basic drills. (My son is 13 and has been playing recreational soccer for years.) My son was bored and not at all challenged. I do not recommend this organization.

Kids are grouped by skill level to practice drills & scrimmage with others. I really like the practice times/locations (Cooley middle school & Power Ranch) and the coaches (James runs the show but has many assistant coaches working with small groups). My kids understand the game now & have improved as athletes. We've referred a few friends. Great set up all around!

I don't do a good job keeping track of all the hikes I complete (unlike other friends I know who…read moredocument everything), so for the beginning of 2026, I'm going to try to do a better job of documentation. I love the Lost Dutchman and have been here several times and it never gets old and each time I come, I am still so awestruck by the beauty of this mountain. Years ago, I completed Flatiron with my then partner and didnt know that it was rated a very difficult hike. I enjoyed it, got a really nice work out and liked the scramble up to the top! I just remember it was quite windy at the top but spectacular views. Dogs are allowed on Flatiron, but don't do that to your pup, its a pretty gnarly hike, let your puppy rest honestly as I saw so many doggies struggling. Tonight, I came just for a leisurely stroll right before sunset and also hoping to catch the first almost full moon of 2026. I love nature and being outdoors and my favorite way to spend time. Park entrance was packed tonight and the fee was $10. There is a small visitor center with souvenirs, guides, some snacks, bathrooms and last minute hiking needs. I think you can also camp here, check on their website. I parked in the Cholla day use lot and did part of the Treasure Loop and hiked for about 3 miles slowly, and spent about 2+ hours in the park. My goal tonight wasn't really to hike strenously but more to get a glimpse of the sunset and the beautiful 2026 Wolf Moon. All my goals were accomplished. Park is well maintained. I used the bathroom and it was very clean and a nice park bathroom. Plenty of covered picnic tables too. Park closed at 8pm tonight (winter). There are all different level trails here and the rangers here are super nice and helpful. Ask them any questions and they are happy to help. There are also many kinds of free maps available in the visitor center. I had a MTB map, a hiking trail map, a birding map, a native plant map! I am all mapped up! If you come and do a hike, wear sturdy hiking shoes, wear sunscreen, head covering, bug spray (there were quite a lot of mosquitoes when I hiked tonight which annoyed the heck out of me as I left my bug spray at home), lots of water, some snacks, and also headlamps (I hiked back down after sunset and the headlamp helped a lot). One of the best AZ state parks, the views are amazing (so many couples here getting their photos professionally taken), definitely check it out.
