When you are dealing with an auto mechanic, you generally don't want anything surprising - if they seldom give you much "bad news," you have to wonder if they are giving your car all it needs (for which you will pay dearly down the road); if they are charging you a great deal frequently, you have to wonder if you are being taken for a ride.
Aoude "Eddy" has been a very honest businessman, and one I know I can trust - and that is the best you can say for an auto mechanic! He tells you straight the condition of your car, and what it will take to fix it. But he deals with things from a practical side as well. For example, if your springs need replacing (I'm making up an example here - he has done this kind of thing, but I can't remember the specific parts), he will tell you how much it would cost to do it right now. But he may also tell you that the shocks will need replacing in about 500 more miles, and the springs will certainly last at least that long, and you could save some money by waiting and getting both done at once. He could make more money by going "by the book" and doing each job immediately when he sees they need to be done. He would rather do right by his customers, and have the repeat business. And he does.
He is friendly, knowledgeable, and able to explain the problems to the customer, so that they can make sound decisions. An all around good guy.
I used to like to perform my own car maintenance and repair. Between the fact that cars are harder to repair than they used to be, and the fact that I spend a lot more time at work now, and have less time to do other things, I can't do that anymore. I bring my car to Eddie for every oil change, and he keeps me up to date on any regular maintenance/replacements that are scheduled to be done, as well as any parts that are starting to fail. It is easy to have a good, friendly business relationship with the man, and I wouldn't take my car anywhere else. read more
