Then the potato dishes seem to go on and on. There are so many items it may be difficult to make a decision. The staff is always happy to assist with suggestions. There may be tourists here but also many local people since good food is good food no matter where you are from. Dieser Ort ist für mich zu einer Art Tradition geworden. I was a little confused at first but soon realized that you actually go inside to place your order and then they bring the food out to you. I ordered a glass of white wine and the shrimp salad. The wine was delicious and perfectly complimented the salad. The salad was good. It was a little small so I wish I had ordered something else because it didn't satisfy my hunger but it was super tasty! I loved the gorgeous views provided on the patio. Everything was just so nice. The staff were great. I will definitely come back next time I'm in Trier!

The schnitzel, while served as two pieces versus one giant piece, was decently (but not perfectly) executed. Crispy, somewhat tender meat (could have been more tender) and a very flavorful sauce with fresh mushrooms. The spätzle was soft and buttery. Almost melted in my mouth. Can't go wrong with a nice Pilsner to wash it all down.

Take the time to locate this gem outside the main tourist area and you won't regret it. It's in a very residential neighborhood and frequented almost exclusively by locals. They are friendly to non-German speakers and the service is excellent. We had the schnitzel with pepper sauce and halloumi Mediterranean and the dishes were plentiful and very very tasty. The beer selection is strong and the ambience great, despite an unimpressive street entrance. You will not be disappointed.

Having already had brats just earlier in the evening, my friend pointed me to the long list of schnitzel options in the menu. I opted for the schnitzel cordon bleu because why not mix two cultures into one?! And with the factory a few kilometers down the road in Bitburg had to wash the meal down with a rather large glass of Bitburger beer. The beer was top notch. The meal was a bit overly salted including the fries that would've been fine without so much sodium. The flavor was ok but not the most memorable. It was kind of the equivalent to dining in any chain restaurant in America.
