This is a small but well organized space. It is easy to find what you're looking for. Due to the smaller space their isn't as many machines as you'd find in a large commercial space but there is everything you need. Just like all anytime fitnesses you can come and go as you please regardless of the hours as long as you're a member. The building is a bit older and could use some minor renovations but aside from that this is a nice facility that utilizes the space they have very well. read more

For what it is, this gym deserves 5 stars. It's a good, clean gym with plenty of space, although smaller than the other gyms in West Seattle. Plenty of machines, treadmills, resistance bands, kettlebells, lots of seemingly nice trainers. Yeah, it doesn't have as many amenities as the LA Fitnesses of the world, but it's also not nearly as crowded or stuffy/humid. It's always easy to get the work in you want, and you rarely need to wait your turn, even during peak hours. So for those reasons, I'd recommend this place! Other pros: - garage door to outdoor area or just more ventilation - showers - workout classes - tvs with remotes (maybe just a pro to me?) I like the Anytime Fitness philosophy where the gyms are open 24x7 and you can go to any one across the country. I find the staff here friendly and responsive. They have gotten me into HIIT workouts which have taken my fitness to a higher level. This is probably a midsize gym relative to other AFs. I've been to smaller and larger. Many locals are members and I've developed quite a few friendships. Feels friendlier here than most places I've been. I also like that I can bring a visiting friend for $5. I don't think you can do that anywhere else. Only quibble is that some items don't get repaired as quick as I'd like. Definitely recommend this facility. read more

Love the Anytime Fitness on California Ave. It's a well maintained, clean gym in Admiral with a community feel and everything you need for a good workout. The classes are a great way to get a full body workout in without having to figure it out yourself. And they limit the number of class participants to five (perfect in these COVID times) and you can reserve a spot in them through the Anytime app, which I've found to be super convenient. The staff are welcoming and the coaches / class instructors are so friendly and supportive (especially Lauryn and Marshall). read more

I've been a member of Anytime Fitness since they opened their first Seattle location in Fremont. I've been a big fan ever since, frequenting the Bellingham and Vancouver, WA locations as well. The West Seattle location is among my favorite. The equipment is the best around, and the abundance of natural light and fresh air give it a bright, comfortable atmosphere. It is always clean, and the hours, of course, are convenient. My only complaint is that there is no shower...which makes it tough to work out before work...but still, it's a great place, overall. read more

Don't sign up for this gym. Drive five minutes down the road to All Star for all the amenities you'd want and need. Let's start with the pros, because it's a shorter list: 1) Great elliptical machines - new and accurate, Life Fitness brand. 2) Mostly empty - I've seen five people work out here at once, and that was the biggest crowd. 3) Blinding lime green walls means you won't feel tired at 5am. 4) You enter with your own key and it's pretty secure. 5) Reasonable membership cost: $30/month, month-to-month. Don't let them sell you more; show a little hesitation and you'll get this. CONS: 1) No towel service, or even a method of self-cleaning the machines. 2) Only four treadmills. I don't work out at "peak time" (4-6pm) but I can imagine they'd fill up fast. 3) ONE stationary bike, 3 ellipticals, one bench machine.. you get the idea. 4) One toilet, no locker room, no shower, no sauna. 5) Teeny teeny parking lot, shared with a clothing store. 6) Unlike the other Anytime Fitness, there's only two small TVs set up in the cardio area, and they're always both on the same sports channel. Fun. Not that I wanted to watch The Office, or the local news, or even yes Jersey Shore while I work out, and have fun! Let's.. go... Mariners!! I have faith you will score at least ONE run this game. (Not.) 7) Something is wrong with these treadmills -- it feels like you're running in sand and about 0.3 mph faster than it's reading. Makes for a really hard, exhausting workout with not much output. 8) No place to securely lock your belongings while you work out - how do you feel about a cubby hole for your wallet or purse? 9) And now, in addition to the shocking lack of amenities, the biggest reason I am never coming here again: they RIP YOU OFF. I paid the $30 refundable fee to check out a key; when I turned in said key, I waited more than a month, and they never refunded my credit card. I almost forgot about it, but had to call and ask them to refund it asap. They had the nerve to continually ask if I wanted a membership, and why not!! Give me my $32.46 and be quick about it. I had to wait one month for my boyfriend to get his key fob. After one month when he came in they said he was not listed in the system. Damarius told him he would look into it and call him back. He never did. After several trips and attempts, he was finally able to get his fob. There have been many times that I have gone in and they give me the hard sell for their training services. If I want them, I will ask for them. Also, telling me how I'm doing something wrong work out wise is insulting and makes it awkward for me. I know this is a tactic to get me to think I need a trainer. This is my secondary gym. If it weren't for the Lake Stevens location I would not even have this membership anymore. When I tried to cancel my boyfriend's membership, Desiree told me that he was never in your system and was never billed. I have bank statements as evidence that they have been billing me for his membership. Overall, I feel their business is incompetent at best, and quite possibly dishonest. Fast forward almost 150 years and little has changed... the rent is "too damn high"; the food has many of us looking like pears or apples because we're not EATING pears and apples; and you get famous nowadays by sleeping with strippers or tappin' your foot in the men's bathroom. So I wanted to be different. I didn't go west. I went EAST -- or, should I say, went with Easton Johnson as my fitness trainer. Boom. You should, too. I lost 200 pounds in a year. 1 year. 430 to 230. The last 60 of which happened AT ANYTIME FITNESS!! And that was great! But when I finished, I was still flabby. Sure, I was doing so much cardio in the gym I'd have Shaun T sweatin'... but it was all the same, over and over. Miles run on the treadmill, miles climbed on the elliptical, and the bicycle? Really? I didn't know a damn thing about "the other side" of the gym and quite frankly, was intimidated by the Buff Bagwells who worked that side of the room like they were born with iron on their fists. I had little muscle aside from my legs and wasn't happy with myself, despite achieving something so monumental in such a short amount of time. Also -- I became a 75% vegan in the process and wanted to see if daily diet was helping or hindering my future beach body. So, I contacted the guys at Anytime. And don't worry about the older reviews here on Yelp -- that was then (old management - boo), this is now (new management - yay)! They set me up with Easton who they said "has tremendous strength and conditional backgrounds and lots of nutritional support." Boy, were they right. Easton sat me down, listened to my story, my successes, my struggles, and treated me like a human being -- not like a customer who "NEEDS TO BUY THIS PROTEIN SHAKE MIX AND THESE WHEY PROTEIN SHOTS AND THESE STEROIDS!" like at some "gyms" here in Seattle. Grrl, you know who that be. From the very first session I knew we'd be the perfect pair. -- Easton taught me and trained me how to get a great, grueling workout with so many different other variations of cardio -- not just the treadmill or the elliptical. He, too, told me that he gets bored quickly and needs variation. I'm the same way. So is your body -- otherwise: plateau. -- Easton also trained me and is helping me master weights and building muscle where it matters: chest, arms, abs... And every week it's something different to keep me on my toes. But in the words of Icona Pop, I don't care. I love it. -- One subtle thing that's also rubbed off from him is not to stress. My job? So stressful. And stress can equal a lack of results. He always says, "No stress." And it's true. I've been with Easton for just under two months now. I've been going here regularly for about a year. Like other neighborhood gyms, it is small and hardly ever what I would call busy; in a year, I never had to wait for anything. LAYOUT: Everything is on a single floor with cardio on one side, machines in the middle, and free weights on the far side. There's a group fitness area in the back that's used mainly for lightly attended spin classes. Cardio equipment, most of which has a clear view of the hanging TVs, is placed by the windows overlooking the parking lot. I like the sunscreens on the large windows, blocking the PM sun that would otherwise be blinding. LOCKER ROOM: NA, but there are 3-4 individual bathrooms, some of which have a shower. Everything is kept clean. CROWD: Other than 5-7 PM weekdays, this place is very sparsely populated, especially on weekends. The members run the gamut from 20-somethings to retirees. The people who come here come to work out and have good gym etiquette. Turned off by what you're seeing / feeling at LA Fitness? Come here and be left alone to work out in peace. EQUIPMENT: Everything is in good repair, minus the (very typical) 1-2 pieces of cardio equipment down at any time. There's also a tanning bed. The one thing I would ask they add is more fans; circulation is fair, but not great. PARKING: There's a dedicated lot in front (10 spots) and one in the back (another 10 spots). The front spots are ridiculously narrow, forcing people to contort unnaturally to get into their cars. Great if you have a Mini Cooper, but comical if you don't I'd love to see the lines repainted with the spaces widened, even if that does sacrifice one prime spot. Remember to have your gym-issued parking pass visible. I have seen the parking attendant (not affiliated with the gym) ticket cars occasionally. Rare, but it does happen. PRICE: It stated on par with the other gyms, but has been creeping up. The price makes sense if you can walk here, but now that its going head-to-head with LA Fitness, price vs convenience is an equation that may be tilt customers one way or the other. TRAINERS: Never used one even though they advertise that they offer 1 free session every month. It seems that the model now favors small group training (SGT) over 1:1. That should bring down the price, and maybe even increase the motivation of participants. Trainers seem very motivated and never hog much real estate when running a session. CANCELLING MEMBERSHIP: Very easy, despite what some grumpy reviews may lead you to believe. I walked into the office one PM and asked to cancel my month-to-month contract. The owner typed a few keys and told me when the current term expired and that I would no longer be billed. read more

So, here I am writing a review for a gym that I really had high hopes for. I currently signed up for the 7 day trial, a mom of three with my youngest just turned one. So a quick jaunt to the gym is not in the cards for me. I have to wait till my husband gets home at 6pm and don't get to the gym till 8:30pm which by that time is unstaffed. As my trial was about to expire, I left my three kids with my neighbor so I could sign up real quick. To my surprise the office was closed and it was a Thursday at 5:30pm so I knew it was well within the staffed hours. I waited for about 15 mins when I saw one of the trainers. I asked her if she knew if anyone was coming back to the office to which she replied that she wasn't sure and she didn't see anyone when she came in either and figured that they may have gone to watch the Seahawks game that night... Really? So here I am, hoping that they don't disable my pass but sure enough after making a hopeful effort that night, I was denied entry. I called them at 12:30pm on a Saturday to make sure that someone was staffing the office before I made the effort of driving over and not to my surprise, no one picked up. I called again on Monday at 4pm and yet again I got nothing. So to the owners of Anytime Fitness West Seattle, don't you want business? If so, why employ people who lack basic customer service and consistency? I wanted to sign up for the 12 month option at $55 a month and a start up fee of $80. If you're going to require that much amount from me pls. make sure that your business is worth it. Your gym only provides the basics, definitely no bells and whistles. This place is under new ownership--disregard any old reviews about sketchy owners or shady business practices--these guys are legit! I live down the street on California Ave and since I have really weird work hours, it makes sense for me to belong to a club that's available 24/7. I love the convenience of being able to work out on my schedule, and so close to my house! If you're looking for a uber-gym with a pool, spa locker rooms, fitness studios and a smoothie bar, this probably isn't for you--Go down to AllStar and pay twice as much every month. If you want a clean, well-kept, modern gym with all the equipment you need in once place, this is where you should come! They work really hard to create a community atmosphere here, and the new owners and staff are super supportive of their members: LOVING the chalkboard wall they put up for members to write their Resolutions for all to see! Great motivation! Even at its most crowded, there are still only about 7-8 people here at a time, and there is still plenty of room for everyone to get their sweat on. As far as I can tell, all of the members are really good about maintaining the space (wiping down machines, putting away equipment) even when the gym isn't staffed. For those of you concerned about the safety of working out in an un-staffed gym at 2am...the gym is only accessible by keycard and only members and staff have them. Also, they have safety lanyards you can wear (they are kind of like a life-alert necklace) so if something DID happen, all you'd have to do is press a button and help would be on its way immediately. Whew! All told, I'm saving about $35/month over All Star and all its bells and whistles. All Star is a beautiful gym and I liked all of their amenities, but wasn't a good fit for my schedule or my budget. Now, I work out at Anytime Fitness down the street, and get my fitness class fix at Spira Power Yoga, or Zumba at the community center. SO much better! The thing I like most about AFWS is hard to put my finger on, but I think it boils down to the fact that I can work out and be the only girl in the gym without feeling watched by creepers. Since AF is not necessarily a gym to "be seen," (go to 24 hour fitness downtown for that) it doesnt seem to attract the same brand of sweaty gorillas that only like the gym because of the plethora of mirrors available. If you are looking for cedar-lined lockers, heated towels, treadmills with TV's and a bathroom attendant who will scratch those hard-to-reach areas (for a tip), you are in for a shock. But for those who want to go in get a workout without a lot of bells and whistles, Anytime Fitness West Seattle is just the ticket. The gym is very small but packs in all of the basics, as well as a lie down tanning bed in case you are heavy on the pale. The equipment is also basic; you won't find the fancy shit here, but it all works and I have yet to see something broken for more than a day. My workout schedule is all over the map, and even when I go during peak hours, I have no problem finding an open treadmill, rowing machine or (insert your favorite equipment here). Most of the time though, the number of fellow flab-busters range between one and eight. The people who come here seem pretty cool for the most part. Every once in a while you'll get one of those superfluous grunters who love to show off the ten reps they just pulled off on the dip machine, but they are rare. I don't know what they charge new members, but I came here after learning that they charge half of what the other local gym does, PLUS you can work out any time you want! I admit, I don't have many 3 a.m. runs, but the option is always nice. The staff are friendly for the most part, and they keep the place pretty tidy. You should be warned though, that there are no lockers. They have a bunch of cubby holes that you can store your stuff in, so leave your valuables in a safe place. I see a lot of car keys and cell phones placed casually in these cubbies, and have never heard of anything being stolen. Still, I keep my stuff elsewhere lest I tempt the wicked. It should be noted that not all Anytime's are created equal. I go to the one in Sequim when I am out visiting my folks, and it features TV's on the treadmills, a private shower, massage table and a gaggle of old timers. But they are all friendly, and some of the buffest octogenarians I have seen. read more

This is a great "in my garage feel" type gym. Open 24hours with secured doors, you have your own personal key to open. Like that although small never seems very crowded and I seem to always get the machine I want. Beware tho like i said garage gym, this place has only one bathroom for each gender, NO shower, NO towels, No hair-blower. Dislikes: The staff is NOT knowledgeable, nor can they help you with many if ANY of your contract, billing questions. The trainers are nice enough but do not have certification like most trainers would have to have at any other gym, and are just as expensive! maybe more. Like another review my sister had gotten a 14 day pass, we paid refundable 30$ to activate a key, we returned the key, although a few days late.. they couldn't find our receipt so refused to refund. I am in a 12 month trainer contract I only wish I studied up on first prior to signing my life away. This is a great gym, but if you get any of the extras WATCH YOUR ACCOUNT.. It seems there was some disconnect in communication with management, and they are still trying to iron out the kinks of the previous ownership's practices. I have been a member for a little over a year. I was using the gym quite frequently up until about 3 months ago. I have been training for a half marathon and was running a lot outside and going to yoga. I wasn't using the gym, but didn't necessarily want to cancel my membership so i contacted Anytime Fitness to put my membership on hold for 3 months. Much to my surprise, i was still charged a membership fee. I was pretty angry about this and thought to myself "great, another sleezy gym that i have to hire a lawyer to get out of". I contacted the gym telling them i was very upset about being charged and that i would like to cancel my membership entirely since i do not want to deal with an establishment that lies to their members. I was ready for a fight, but Andrew (one of the owners) contacted me directly, apologized profusely, told me i was be refunded the charge on my account and that he would be happy to assist me in the cancellation of my membership. I was so pleasantly surprised at this response from them, and the impeccable customer service i received. When I decide to re-join a gym in the future....i will not hesitate to contact Anytime Fitness. Thank you for being understanding and putting your members first. read more

Scammers. Signed up for month to month, cancelled, they kept charging me and finally sent me to collections. Fraud. Danger. Owner was the problem . Avoid at all costs. Refused to own up to their own mistakes, and sent a lawyer after me for their own bogus charges. Avoid avoid avoid. Simple facts: I called to cancel. Left a voicemail. They kept charging me. Changed my card (due to it being stolen) and they kept billing me for * months and months*, having visited zero times, then sent me to collections. How can a "month to month" program rack up hundreds of dollars in charges, with a cancellation, and *Zero usage*? And when called out on it, they sent lawyers after me for not paying their bogus charges. DANGER DANGER AVOID. by all means, go read other reviews closely, as they do this to others. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Some of the worst customer service snd deception I have ever experienced anywhere. Don't waste your time or money here. I have been checking out different gyms in the area to determine which one I wanted to join, and Anytime Fitness offered me a free 7 day pass to try out their gym, only catch was they charged me a "$30 refundable fee" for my gym access card, which they completely lied about and kept my $30 when I returned the card. Not sure why a company thinks they can blatantly lie to customers and get away with it. 12/10/15 Update- I was reimbursed by the owners for my $30 deposit. I appreciate them making things right. I really have no complaints about this gym. Its clean, well lit, and there are usually plenty of machines and freeweights. You can go anytime you want day or night, and there are never any douchebags crowding the machines or weights like other gyms (24 Hour Fitness) Staff is very responsive here in person and to emails. I emailed once with a few suggestions and the next time I was in to workout, one of the owners spoke to me personally to thank me for the suggestions. Great gym and well taken care of. read more

I've been very happy with Anytime Fitness, and have nothing but good things to say - especially about the staff. I frequently take contracts outside Seattle and they have been very accommodating with my schedule. I'm able to get a membership when I need it, and end it when I'm not here. The gym is clean, well maintained and simple. Enough equipment, 24-hour access and a couple showers. Good spin classes. I recently joined this gym and was reassured upon joining that the facility was cleaned and members were required to follow guidelines. After going only 4 times I canceled. The gym is small so strict adherence to Covid-19 guidelines is even more important. People aren't required to where face masks on cardio machines, I never saw people clean the machines before or after use and I definitely didn't see staff clean anything. The staff's masks are always chin straps. The last straw for me was when I let the front desk know that someone working out in the HITT section without a mask but with a personal trainer. The office manager said it was ok and if I needed a kettle bell he would get it for me. How would that help???? How many people is the personal trainer going to be around after allowing people to workout without a mask with him? This place is being incredibly irresponsible. Now I'm stuck paying for another month bc they require 30 days notice. Fucking bullshit. read more

If you live in the neighborhood and are the kind of gym-goer that doesn't require a lot of services, then this place ought to fit the bill. As other commenters have pointed out, amenities are few (no towels, showers or lockers). If you can live with that -- and I can, since I prefer to change and shower at home anyway -- then you'll find a clean gym with well-kept, up-to-date equipment, and a pretty good variety of machines and weights, given the size of the gym. The cardio machines even recharge your iPod. My one beef is that I didn't find the staff particularly knowledgeable about the terms of the contract, having trouble answering seemingly routine questions about the usual what-ifs. Still, I don't see myself leaving for another gym anytime soon. read more

I've lived in West Seattle for 15 years and this place has always been fantastic! Highly recommended. It's clean, has good, well-kept machines and equipment, friendly staff, and all the amenities you could want. It's also highly cost effective and has good parking. The management/owners are extremely helpful and when I left, they took care of me no problem. I would not have left this gym except for having to move due to getting married. If you're looking for a great gym in West Seattle, this is the place! I was a customer for a decade and if I ever move back to WS, this place would be my first choice hands down. Decided to spend the day in West Seattle and wanted to get our workout on instead of dealing with traffic. It is a different vibe. We typically go to the Queen Anne and Fremont gyms (also great). They offer the My Zone displays, which we love to use to measure our efforts. The gym is surrounded with motivation as well as health awareness, education, and social events. They have a sizeable free weights area and functional fitness area as well. They have the TRX Rip Trainer as well. For the folks that know how to use this, especially for core work, this is amazing. Lastly, I had no idea that they had 2 tanning beds here. $5 for a one time use and $15 for the month. That is not bad at all for the monthly add on! read more

I've been a member for about one year and I'm thinking about switching gyms.... I like the gym, but I don't like the trainers or management! I believe that All-Star Fitness let some trainers go so they came over to Anytime. Not sure... but some of them look familiar. read more

I was surprised to see the low star rating here, but now I see it's mostly from older reviews. I have so many good things to say about this place, but I'll be concise. Of all the gyms I've been to (aside from my university gyms, which were the bomb), this is my favorite. It's not huge, and it doesn't need to be. I don't need a gym that's flashy and has bulky personal trainers - I just need a large free weight area, a reasonable sized stretching area, and some cardio equipment. As an added bonus, there's a great class room complete with a projection system for video classes that you can use when there's no an in-person class going on. They keep this place extremely clean (obviously important in a gym), the staff is very involved (year-round incentives around fitness, not trying to extort more members out of you) and very nice, I never felt pressured (even to join, I was really the one driving things actually), and - lo and behold - they actually circulate the air. It's startling how few gyms understand the importance of circulating air around their gym. A little more expensive than the bigger chain gyms, and this location is better than the other Anytime Fitnesses I've been to in other states, but I'd still say it's totally worth it. Oh, and my wife does the small group training classes and thinks they're great. Again, a little spendy but less than what you'd generally pay at a CrossFit. I do martial arts classes elsewhere so I don't have time to do these ones, but from what I've observed I'd say the trainers do a good job. Even better: you don't have to share equipment with personal trainers! I've never been booted off a machine or been disallowed from it because of a personal training appointment. The SGT classes take up the stretching area and that's it - there's not much equipment there that you can't find elsewhere in the gym. I really hope this gym is around a long time. I'd like to see the good management here get rewarded with a successful gym (seems to be doing reasonably well - never packed but also never totally empty). read more

The good: Open 24/7 Virtually no one is there at night They have just enough equipment to get a good workout and maintain Close to home The price is ok The Bad: New uncertified trainers who crowd the gym The owners and trainers limit how you and your workout partners can train The owners don't stand by their word and let us work out together even though we brought them 25 new memberships. No showers They need heavier free weights Communication is poor when trying to email or call Small facility location price and 24/7 access is worth it to me to keep my membership. But the owners and trainers have been a big let down. read more
