We stayed at Anvil as part of a wedding party. And I've never been to a place quite like it. Breathtaking barely describes this place. We came up from San Francisco. I had flown in from New York, while my wife ended a business trip and flew in from London. By the time we got our rental and made it through San Francisco rush hour, our ride into the mountains was in near total darkness. I've driven on narrow mountain roads with no guardrails before in Arizona, but always in broad daylight. This was terrifying. We got a taste of the remoteness when we had to stop to allow a family of wild pigs cross the road. We knew this was a drive we would remember the rest of our lives, we just hoped that the rest of our lives wasn't in another 10 minutes. All of this, however, was worth it. The East Coast contingent of the wedding party were all up before dawn due to jet lag, and we sipped our coffee and watched the dawn rise over the mountains. This was the first view my wife and I had of the place. It was magical. It was like being transported to 19th century California. I hadn't realized California had places so untouched by population. The bed was comfortable, the accommodations very homey, and the setting magnificent. Easily one of the best places we've stayed in California. Just drive up in the daylight! read more

My heart aches for how much I already miss this place. I couldn't have picked a better nook of this world to wed my love and celebrate with our best friends! This remote corner of Sonoma County is breathtaking, and Anvil Ranch is just perfect. Sam went OUT OF HIS WAY to help us pull off an amazing party. He's such a helpful and cool guy - we repeatedly encouraged him to join us in the festivities because he's that awesome! Shannon is just the sweetest, and she was a big help on Sunday sorting through the rental gear and easing our final hours on the ranch. There is so much to gush about, I'll just need to update this review later with great tips and details, but suffice it to say - we will be back! love!!! read more

This place is magical and relaxing. The only drawback is the long road and distance from town but that also is an upside as we had so much space to explore and Privacy from the world it felt like for 4 days we owned a mountain ridge. It was mystical the way the fog rose off the mountains and eventually as noon came the sun shone through. It seemed like they had thought of everything and I felt like there was nothing I had to worry about. Sam and Shannon were awesome. Plenty space for my 17 friends and I and never did we feel crammed. We also got the guest house so that couples could have their own room. We played pool and ping pong and went on hikes drank beer and cooked great meals that we ate in different locations on property through out the 4 days. I do not get much time off and this place made each minute of my vacation so special I know myself and my friend will not forget it. Thanks Anvil ranch/Sam and Shannon!!!!! read more

We recently were married at Anvil Ranch and Vineyard, and had a wonderful experience. Patrick was incredibly sweet and accomodating, and helped us a tremendous amount over the 5 days we stayed at the ranch. I promised Patrick that we would write about our happy experience, and I didn't want to wait until next year. So, even though this review doesn't hold up to my normal standards, I just want to say, 'Anvil Ranch and Vineyard was a lovely wedding location, is great for large groups, and has a tremendous staff. They knocked my socks off.' Thanks Patrick. read more

Incredible! I recently had my wedding at Anvil and cannot say enough about how wonderful this venue is! Patrick is amazing - so helpful and really goes the extra mile to make sure you have everything you need. We spent three days on the property with our wedding guests (Anvil sleeps 38!) and we enjoyed every minute. The lake on the property was beautiful and perfect for a relaxing day of swimming and hanging out with our guests the day before the wedding. I highly recommend Anvil for a wedding or celebration - it's beautiful, secluded, peaceful and I really can't say enough about Patrick! I'd be happy to talk to any future brides who are considering Anvil about the experience! read more

I hosted my wedding at Anvil in October 2013. We picked Anvil because we wanted the freedom to create our own unique occasion, and the flexibility to stay somewhere longer with out of town guests. Anvil was perfect for us! The property is absolutely beautiful, and my only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We rented the entire property from Tuesday through Sunday for a Saturday afternoon wedding. As friends and family arrived in town, they joined us on the ranch for what turned into a week-long family reunion. All of my cousins shared the carriage house, which was a perfect spot for a big family! We stayed in the main house as did all of our parents, where we enjoyed beautiful views of the mountains. All of our bridesmaids and groomsmen arrived mid-week. We got to spend several days together -- including a chilly swim in the lake (one of my favorite memories from the week)! I also loved just gathering in the main house kitchen and dining room for breakfast or lunch... just spending time together. We had a beautiful pizza dinner in the vineyard. We went for hikes and even shot skeet. The Circle of Nature was a perfect place for the ceremony itself. Absolutely stunning views, to which very little decoration need be added. We used live strings players for music, and did hook up a sound system for our officiant and ourselves. We had about 140 guests, and we all fit very comfortably. Sam & Shannon took amazing care of us. They worked so hard all week to ensure we had what we needed. They went way above and beyond the day of the ceremony to make sure everything was set up and good to go. Sam even brought in a friend to help us when we needed more hands for set-up and take down. Anvil was such a great experience for us. My family and friends still thank me for a week they have called "so special, memorable, really a once in a lifetime experience." Thank you Sam, Shannon, and Princess! We loved every minute. read more

Heaven on earth. This place is simply amazing. We had 30+ people for a weekend getaway...not a single person was ready to leave. First, Sam and Shannon (property managers) are a total delight to work with. They were there to greet us upon our arrival and ready at a moment's notice to answer a question, provide directions, start the grill or fire pit, etc throughout the weekend. They took care of our every need. Second, the property itself is breathtaking. The pictures don't do it justice. All 3 houses overlook a beautiful valley. There's a small vineyard just below the houses. You can pick the grapes! The main house has several outdoor courtyard areas. Decorative lights overhang large banquet tables. We spent hours eating and talking each night in these courtyards. Pretty magical. There's also a HUGE outdoor hot tub. Third, the lake. The lake! This may have been the highlight of the weekend for us. It's 7 miles from the house. You take a dirt road through the property to get there. The word private doesn't quite do it justice. Secluded. No one else is around. It's the most pristine lake water I've ever seen. We had a BLAST swimming, floating, canoeing, etc. Lots of memories from that afternoon. It's been noted in other reviews, but be sure to get everything you need before you arrive. Closest stores are 45 minutes away. But hey, that's the beauty of this place. If you are looking to really get away, this is the spot! Already planning our next trip back. Thanks Sam and Shannon! read more

So many memories! I was fortunate enough to be able to hold my annual vacation with my best friends from college here. We have been meeting yearly for 11 years now and this trip was by far the best one yet. My only regret was that the trip wasn't long enough. The private lake was awesome! Bring floaties and enjoy the sun and the surroundings. In fact one of the days down at the lake we saw a Bald Eagle. The Main and Guest House's were huge and we came with 18 people. There are so many large table for dinner we never had dinner in the same place twice. In fact for our final dinner we enjoyed the Dinner Table in the Little Vineyard. We had the heat lamps brought down there so it never got too cold. The strands of little lights really added to the beauty of an already picture perfect setting. Make sure you bring enough food and drink for the trip. You don't want to have to make the 35-45 drive out to town more then once. Princess, the property managers Dog was super friendly. She is a playful puppy about 2 years old. She played very well with the dog we brought which was a much smaller dog. The Property Managers are a really great couple by the name of Sam and Shannon. They were so great, they really added to our experience. On the first day Shannon and Sam introduced them selves to us and were pretty much out of sight the rest of the trip unless we needed them. Sam was able to give us the historical significance of the property and the owner. They had a great understanding of the land and were very helpful with any questions and accommodating with any requests we had. I would go back to Anvil Ranch in a second. Hopefully Sam and Shannon still work/live there. read more

There are few people or Event Professionals like me who love Anvil Ranch more. As the Owner of High Hand Staffing, the Wine Country's Best Bar & Banquet Staff, I feel that Anvil with Shannon and Sam have the finest destination wedding facility on the Sonoma Coast! Affordable, breath taking & reserved for the lucky. Do not rule out this remote gem of Sonoma County. It is as heavenly as you could dream a Wine Country Wedding can be! read more

All I can say is "Amazing". Anvil is the ultimate combination of magic and intimate. Our decision to book our October wedding there was one of the best that we could have done. Sam and Shannon were exceptionally accommodating and were wonderful to work with. Unlike other facilities that dictated what, when, and where things would go, Sam and Shannon provided us with all the options as well as suggestions of things they have done in the past. Using these ideas, we were able to create the perfect day and event that to this day our guests still rave about. If you are looking for a magical place for a wedding, retreat, family event, or just to get away, this is the place to be. read more

You will notice in most of the earlier reviews of Anvil Ranch; the on-site property managers are featured prominently in those reviews for their part in making events at Anvil Ranch a wonderful experience. These great reviews highlight the importance of competent management to the enjoyment of destination event. Unfortunately, the management has changed since the posting of these glowing reviews. The new manager (Tiffany) comes from a rental management background. She understands contractural details but she does not understand the concept of hospitality. Perhaps she should read the previous Yelp reviews to learn about the type of service they should be providing their customers. My 2-star review specifically reflects the negative impact a poor on-site manager can have on a 3-day wedding event. Tiffany claims the parent company (Soper) does not want the managers involved in the hospitality aspect of Ranch operation. If true, this would be an even worse situation and I would change my review to 1-star. Much of my negative assessment is due to the less helpful attitude of manager Tiffany. The negative interactions with Tiffany started with the first email exchanges. In the early interaction with Tiffany, it became clear that the Ranch was operating differently under new management and that our initial agreements with the prior management were null and void. The management change occurred well after our initial visits to the venue to meet with the managers and discuss our event requirements. The prior managers had been at the Ranch for a long time and they came highly recommended as can be seen in earlier 5-star reviews of Anvil Ranch. Our interaction with Anvil Ranch ends with the retention of our deposit in addition to our cleaning fee. As a caution to future guests at Anvil Ranch, I list below some reasons Tiffany gave for retaining our $1000.00 deposit: 1. Soiled towels. (A child was badly injured and got some blood on towels) 2. Broken blind. (The blind did not work and was damaged to begin with.) 3. The hot tub water was cloudy and needed to be refilled after our stay. ( After 3 days of heavy usage by 30 to 40 people, yes that happens! AND I would hope they changed the water in any case.) 4. "Damaged" shower curtain. ( I don't know what happened here but I'm glad nobody was injured. 5. Broken door to the spa "outhouse". (This door was a rickety, poorly constructed/maintained plywood panel and yes, it fell off.) 6. Some dishes were left in one of the many sinks. (I guess they can buy new dishes with my $1k). I will certainly dispute some of these items since we also paid a $500.00 cleaning fee in addition to the $1000.00 security deposit. I begrudge the loss of these fees not because I am cheap. Under better circumstances, I would have gladly tipped Tiffany and Kieth more than this for their efforts. I am sure Tiffany can recite page, paragraph and line where the contract says we will be charged for dishes left in the sink, OK, 2-stars it is, as well as a very small tip. There were a few problems we had with the property for which we are contractually not entitled to compensation: 1. Internet outage for most of one day. (This heavily impacted wedding party members needing to telecommute while attending the wedding rehearsal and dinner. They had to leave to find service elsewhere and missed the event) 2. Spa did not work for one evening. (The managers just did not understand how to operate the system). 3. Rodent feces in kitchen drawers and cabinets. (Indicates ongoing lack of attention to cleanliness and sanitation). 4. Old items that did not work or were broken. The property and buildings are aged which adds to the charm. But it is old and visitors should not be blamed for damage to already substandard items. Anvil Ranch is a great place but it really needs quality, hospitality minded management to make it shine. All this said, aside from the management issues, the venue itself gets 5-stars for beauty and uniqueness of experience. All of our caterers and contractors (most were recommended by Anvil Ranch) were excellent and also get 5-stars. read more

As a professional wedding planner, I had the pleasure of working with the property managers, Sam & Shannon, for a wedding we did last weekend. The property was gorgeous. This is such a beautiful location to get married. Sam & Shannon were SO incredible to work with. In the planning process they responded to emails and calls immediately. And on the day of the wedding, they helped out and were there for any questions I may have had. I highly recommend working with Sam & Shannon and the beautiful property that they manage! Anvil Ranch, Sam, and Shannon were fantastic. I stayed there for my brothers wedding and Sam was a wonderful host and helped everything run so smoothly. The houses were immaculately clean, they had fig trees in the yard, we utilized the pizza oven, ate dinner at the large table in the vineyard under the stars, made smores in the amazing fires Sam built and had a fantastic time. Sam even came to the rescue when one of the cars was low on gas and probably wouldn't have made it back down the mountain. Sam was a great guy to hang out with, very hospitable, knowledgeable, and a huge help coordinating with the caterers etc the day of the wedding. My family couldn't have asked for anything better, the whole event ran so smoothly and everything was wonderful. Thanks again, we hope to be back soon! read more

I feel so lucky to have found Anvil Ranch. My husband and I were married there this past March, and it was everything we were looking for in a wedding venue! We have nothing but high praises for the property and the property managers, Sam and Shannon. First of all the location is beautiful! The circle of nature is the perfect place for a wedding ceremony. On top of that there are so many other perks to getting married at Anvil Ranch. You and your guests will be the only ones there, so there is no need to worry about awkward noisy interruptions during your ceremony. There isn't a noise curfew, so no worries about the party getting shut down just as it's getting started. Also the houses on the property allow many of your friends and family to stay on site with you. One of the biggest perks of Anvil Ranch are the awesome property managers. Sam and Shannon are the best! Shannon is lightning fast with email responses. They are so helpful with recommendations and really go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need for a great stay. Sam even helped out a wedding guest who realized they did not have enough gas in their car to make the drive down the hill after the wedding. We opted for the pizza oven service for our rehearsal dinner and it was delicious. We also went with many of their recommendations for wedding vendors and were not disappointed. Lombardi's Catering was great! It was helpful to choose vendors who are familiar with the property. I highly recommend Anvil Ranch for a wedding venue and hope to return in the future for a relaxing getaway. read more

Anvil Ranch is one of those places I'm generally reluctant to review because promoting it to the masses could very well destroy what makes it so special. Luckily, the ranch's imperfections and quirks will likely turn away the Napa Valley (and sadly, now, the broader Sonoma County) masses. I'd like to emphasize that our decision to hold our wedding at Anvil Ranch was directly linked to the manager, Patrick - if he departs, our positive review would be rendered almost meaningless. Anvil Ranch may have provided the breathtaking backdrop, but Patrick (and Sunny) were the primary reason(s) we chose to go with Anvil Ranch. He's a rare character in this short term profit focused era - someone who understands the meaning of trust, who works with principles (rather than rules) ... someone we felt (and feel) is real and genuine. Patrick doesn't just say one thing to win your business and then do the opposite as soon as your back is turned. He brings service and hospitality to the next level, epitomizing everything we love about "small scale" and "personal". We feel so fortunate to have had Patrick, Sunny and Anvil Ranch as the canvas for our wedding. Eric and Cheryl (PS - his beer rocks.) read more

We found Anvil Ranch through a simple yelp search. My husband and I were looking for a remote and private location to belatedly celebrate our wedding. We wanted to be able to have friends and family stay on site, and be able to incorporate a lot of eating and outdoor activities into our weekend. Anvil checked all the boxes. It's such a unique location, offering amazing views and an incredible amount of privacy. The staff who live on site (Sam, his lovely wife Shannon, and Jesus, the vineyard manager) are exceptionally friendly and were all super helpful, going above and beyond to help us pull off a packed weekend of festivities. While it took a bit of extra planning to get caterers, rental supplies, and other vendors out to this remote location, there's no doubt we managed to have a very unique and memorable weekend. The wonderful emails from our friends and family about what a special weekend it was just have not stopped coming. Thank you, Sam, for helping to make the weekend so special for us! read more

The Anvil Ranch is a great place for a getaway weekend. Not only is the house unique, spacious, and secluded, but there is plenty of space outside for activities and relaxation. Patrick is very helpful and responsive and an excellent host! Try out the hot tub, play ping pong, or take a stab @ frisbee golf which outlines the perimeter of the property! read more

My husband and I got married here last month and it was wonderful!! The view is UNREAL- truly, some of the most breathtaking sights. The main house has everything you need for the whole weekend. It's very secluded (1 hour drive from a town, gas station, market, civilization in general) which is incredible in a lot of ways for a wedding, but difficult if you need to run to the store for anything. You definitely need to plan ahead for every little thing you might need. The drive is also very windy and some parts are unpaved- if you are having a wedding here, it may be worth it to rent a bus to take your guest up and down the windy road before and after the wedding. We didn't do that, but we were worried about people drinking and driving on that crazy road at night. The property managers are incredible people and were so helpful to us the whole weekend. All of the vendors on their recommended list on their website are great- it was helpful to hire people who have already been to the property and the ins and outs of the venue. We chose Lombardis for catering and they are the BEST! They catered our food for the whole weekend, from the rehearsal dinner to breakfast and lunch, to the wedding dinner. They are totally affordable and easy to work with. We chose Grapevine Rentals since their prices were so great. They were awesome. I definitely recommend this place for a wedding! It's so perfect. You can DIY a lot of it if you are on a tighter budget like we were- lots of flexibility to do what you want for vendors and decor. If you pick this place for any event, I promise it will be unforgettable! read more

This facility is fantastic! The Ranch house/'s are rustic but nice and the amenities sufficient. This was a stunning place for a Ranch Wedding weekend. The best part about the facility is the on site facility coordinator, Patrick. Patrick is friendly, agreeable, helpful, and knowledgeable. As an event coordinator, I would like to say that he was the best on site I have EVER worked with. I suggest you give this majestic, unique, beautiful location a look see if you want something different for your event. The road to the facility is very windy, so be mindful and take some dramamine. read more

Wow. Couldn't imagine a more perfect place to spend time with friends or to be married, both were the case for me earlier this month. Luckily the place is hard to get to, a windy road an hour from gas or other facilities, that's what probably keeps the prices reasonable, because the facility is remarkable. It's breathtaking beautiful and if you don't mind close quarters bring 37 of your friends. The caretaker Patrick is kind and helpful making you feel at home beyond imagination. Jesus the groundskeeper shares this generous spirit, literally saving us when he towed our car 7 miles on a dirt road when my clutch went out. My guests were transiently annoyed at the drive, but then blown away by the majestic views and dream like courtyard. It was literally perfect and I feel indebted to Patrick for supplying such a great place for our stay. read more

Spent a glorious three days here for a family wedding. The house was well stocked and the staff helped us find everything we couldn't. The setting is beyond compare with amazing views and it's easy to decelerate from the daily grind. If you are considering booking this place, and it is available, do yourself a favor and BOOK IT NOW! I don't know where to start... I had no idea what I wanted to do for my 40th birthday but I knew I wanted something different that involved our family and some good friends. I came across Anvil Vineyard and Ranch through an online search for Napa/Sonoma rentals for large groups and had my answer. I wasn't sure what to expect, the pictures looked great, the reviews were positive and my interactions with Tiffany were all very pleasant. But it was early February (rainy season) and seemed really far away from everything. WOW... This place is magical!! There is no other way to describe it. In my wildest dreams I could not have planned a more perfect way to ring in a new decade. We came up from the SF area with a total of 12 families (about 45 adults and kids) and none of us wanted to leave. From the second I got there and met Tiffany and Keith (who were FANTASTIC and so friendly) I knew we found a hidden gem in Sonoma. Be prepared for the white knuckle drive. I was lucky everyone was still speaking to me when they finally arrived (though most needed a stiff drink first). Do not discount or ignore the warnings on the website or from Tiffany about this drive. Dramamine, Dramamine, Dramamine! But after you get there and have that first drink, just stop and take in the views. No photo or description can do those views justice. Breathtaking! And the houses, such old world charm and detail! Adorable and clean, cozy and really converted well for large groups to have space and privacy too. Oh, and the courtyard... I think some of our group may not have left the lovely courtyard the entire weekend- they said they felt like they were transferred to an Italian Village. We lucked out with spectacular weather (78 and no clouds the entire weekend)... so that helped (though no help was needed). We never made it to the large vineyards or the lake, just not enough time... but I imagine they are lovely too! We used the pizza oven one night (if you are using it either have someone in your party that knows what they are doing or hire the pizza chef) Our friend that cooked said it was the best pizza oven she has ever used and the pizzas were delicious! On the second night, for my actual birthday, on the recommendation of Tiffany we booked Tanya Radtkey from black oak catering. I was not part of the details or planning, but I can tell you, I was licking the plate clean. It was a wonderful dinner she brought, cooked, and served.... she and her helper were also friendly and flexibly. When we go back up we will be sure she is able to come cook again! Huge yard and hills, the game room and the giant hot tub where the highlights for the kids... somehow we managed to keep 20+ kids ages 1-12 busy and entertained withOUT iPads, TV's or phones for almost 48 hours (except during the adult dinner where we wanted to enjoy some grown up time!) Some of the kids have already asked if they can have their birthday parties on the ranch! Bring lots of food and drink (There is TONS of places to store it all with 4-5 fridges and freezers). You don't want to have to drive anywhere to get things and I am pretty sure google express doesn't have the same turn around time here! Be prepared for houses that were built in 1939... Appliances are all updated and work perfectly, and of course there is running water, but some of the fixtures are older and the showers take a few minutes to heat up. Again all things I loved and no one from our group minded... but I know some people might not appreciate that charm. A HUGE thank you to Tiffany, Keith and adorable "A". You really were the prefect hosts and available whenever we needed anything-- willing to help us with everything but also gave us our space! It was the perfect 40th birthday and a weekend none of us will ever forget!! We will be back and next time may never leave!! read more

My best friend's daughter got married at this place, so my family had an opportunity to spent 3 wonderful days at the Anvil Vineyard and Ranch. That will be one of the most memorable times of my life. The Vineyard is located in absolutely gorgeous place; the view is stunning, the air is so fresh; the owners are very friendly and helpful. Every building is unique, and looks really authentic for to be almost 80 years old. My family was staying in the Carriage House. What a great idea to remodel old stables into a guest rooms. As private, as you want them to be, rooms have queen bed, and enough space for an extra mattress, in case if thre is more than 2 people staying in one room. Probably, I can only wish that locks on the bathrooms doors where little bit stronger, and the showers bit bigger, but the existing ones just as fine, after all this is not a Ritz- Carlton. If anybody would like a great advise - do not hesitate to visit the lake, it is only 15 minutes away, the ride is little bumpy, but the water is so clean and refreshing, the breeze is cooling, after 2 days of hard work (preparation for the wedding), eating and heavy drinking the lake experience was rejuvenating. Well, to conclude my story, I can say one thing, I would not mind if my daughter will choose place similar to Anvil Vineyard and Ranch for her wedding. (We live in Florida) Otherwise I would highly recommend this place for different occasions. read more

We had a magical, romantic, beautiful wedding up at Anvil, and Sam and Shannon were seamlessly and joyfully woven into the fabric of the production in a way that enriched our celebration more than we could have imagined. They are both such gems, kind thoughtful, hard-working, dedicated, fun folks, and so fully there to support the event and all those involved. I have zero critiques or complaints, only praises and profuse thank yous. We are so lucky to know them, and to have found Anvil. The property really is a spring of beauty and nature while still completely accommodating all event-related needs. Our guests were comfortable and relaxed, freed up to enjoy their time there and focus on the wedding. It was perfect (even in it's imperfections) and we couldn't have dreamed up a more extraordinary experience than what Anvil, Sam and Shannon helped us to create. Anvil Vineyard and Ranch was amazing. It was such a special place to celebrate our wedding with family and friends. The ranch itself is beyond gorgeous. The main house is very spacious and there was plenty of room for both of our families, wedding party and close friends to spend the weekend of the wedding up there all together. Patrick, the care taker, is very nice and was super helpful and accommodating. It's clear that he loves what he is doing and truly wants to make the experience special for each guest at the ranch. Only a few of us were able to make some time to check out the lake. I didn't get to go down there but I heard that it was beautiful and a lot of fun. The one thing that we wished we had known is that there are a lot of bees under the trees and they like to buzz around the food. Definitely bring plenty of citronella and you should be good! The drive up there is very long and it's not great for wedding guests BUT everyone who attended did say that once they arrived to the ranch, it was definitely worth the drive. And we were so pleased to have our wedding there! After all the festivities were over, we were had a little problem getting everything back to the caterer (a few plates were missing when they picked up the rentals). Patrick was amazing and found the missing objects and drove them to the rental place to return them after the event so we would not be charged. He really went above and beyond. Our families and friends loved the ranch so much that we are trying to find a way to go back for a getaway just to spend more time there. read more

History
Established in 1938.
The houses were built by Theron Hedgepeth, a wealthy business man who invented and sold tools to Sears & Roebuck in Chicago. He and his wife retired to this ranch. They lived here alone with their live-in Maid and Caretaker/Stableman. They moved from the ranch in the mid 1940's and the guest houses remained empty for decades. In 2008 the houses were renovated and we officially re-opened as a vacation rental. We have had such an amazing response with reservations - it is the perfect wedding location for many. Families of both the Bride and Groom can get to know each other over several days rather than during just an afternoon at a hotel in town.
Meet the Manager: Patrick T.
Patrick lead the redevelopment team in 2008 to renovate the guests houses and grounds in order to accept guests. His past experience working with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts provided him with the know how to develop this property. His innate hospitable personality has been well received by all that stay on the ranch. Patrick has vast experience in: Event coordination, Catering services (complimented by a culinary degree) & Restaurant/Bar Management. He has managed all aspects of Food & Beverage & Hotel operations in downtown and resort properties in New York City, San Francisco, and the Caribbean. Patrick also co-founded a small software company in the mid 1990's which still is in business today. Wanting to return to the hospitality industry, he took on the Anvil Vineyard & Ranch property because he instantly saw the potential this ranch has and knew that so many others would love it too.

This place is as good as it gets! I had my wedding here (about 100 people) and everything was perfect. The property is unbelievable gorgeous and if you are looking to have a wedding here, I don't think the ceremony cite can get much better. Stunning doesn't even do the it justice. I highly recommend doing a wedding here especially if you are only going to have about 50-60 guests. The location is definitely out there (which of course is what makes the place so special) but it can be hard on some of your guests if they are not staying on property. For those guests that are....score! There is hiking, a private lake, a spa, lawn games --- I mean it's pretty much perfection. Sam and Shannon are extremely helpful and accommodating. They are very quick to answer emails and were always will to go the extra step to make your special day perfect. They made us brick-oven pizza for the night of the rehearsal dinner and it was fantastic. In fact, it was even better than our reception dinner the following day! That being said, use their food vendors if you can! We didn't and we totally regret it. Absolutely check this place out if you are looking for a weekend getaway or are up for the most beautiful wedding in a remote location :) read more

We hosted our family reunion event up at Anvil Ranch this past August and from the time i booked it with Shannon & Sam to the time we arrived and subsequently departed, they were both fast to respond and some of the most accommodating hosts i have ever met! The property is incredible and very private. We had such an amazing time using all of the amenities that Shannon and Sam provided from the newly installed Bocce court to the many beautiful hiking paths and the 20 acre lake that was so clean you could nearly see to the bottom! We had them caterer our pizza party one of the nights and everyone really enjoyed the diversity and fresh produce. They are honestly the very best of the best and the venue is breathtaking. We will be going back every year for this reunion! Anvil Ranch and Sam & Shannon Torres are the very best! read more
