The beans were only served with cubes of fat and some garlic. All the fabulous Spanish cuts of pork never made it in here. The salad with tuna was tasty. We ordered a salmon and a steak. Both were pretty flavorless. The pudding and the pannacota for desert were tasty. I see lunch is popular with the locals. Our server left a full bottle for us and it was an affordable lunch. I just wish after all the hype it was better. This is a beautiful town that needs some better restaurants. It's amazing how the quality drops when you are between San Sebastián and Bilbao. Such beautiful fresh fish delivered on the dock everyday too. A shame.

We were driving from Bilbao to San Sebastian exploring the beautiful villages along the coast and arrived in Lekeitio just after 1 pm and hungry but no plan for where to eat. We happened to park nearby, looked in and decided to try it. It was about 1/3 full of workmen. All men. The very pleasant waitress knew little English but knew what we should eat and had our order in about 30 seconds. No messing with a physical menu although there was one. The fish on the handwritten Menu on the door, Cogote de Merlue, (Hake neck) was what to eat. She dragged her hand over her neck to give us some indication of what we were ordering. She took a big family style bowl of soup off the next table to show us the potato and chorizo soup we should order. The fixed price menu which included a bottle of wine for the three of us and desert was 12 Euro. The food was fabulous. Memorable. By the time we left the pace was packed with locals, almost all of them eating the same thing for lunch on a Wednesday in November. When we explored the town many places were open for lunch but only three doing any real business, two at the port and Egaña. Eat here.
