A friend who's opinion I really respect recommended Antonelli's Cheese Shop for a three cream cheese. I wanted to get this for my book club soiree, but did not have time to make a visit as it is a little north of downtown. Antonelli's Cheese Shop is charming and quaint. While the shop is small they have an assortment of items to sell in addition to cheese - wine, sauces, jellies, etc. I was immediately greeted upon entry into Antonelli's cheese shop. Two other customers were being helped, however, I had a store associate offer me some cheese samples. While the samples were good, I was specifically interested in the three cream cheese. They had two choices to select from. I was hoping they had more. This is a shop you need to spend some time in to leisurely evaluate the cheeses. There was also a human size dog in the shop at the time. I don't know what is about dogs, they like to lick me. Guess what...I do not like to be licked. So, I jetted out of the store. read more

Cheese glorious cheese. Antonelli's has such a large selection of quality cheesy cheese. This is a small family run, local, cheese shop, but it packs a lot inside. They have wine, jams/jelly/preserves. Chocolates, and olives. They also have premade charcuterie boards too. When I came, they were giving away free cheese everyday of the week. The first 100 people that were in line. Free cheese? Yes please. As you can imagine, there was a long line of people waiting, and with the store being small, we were sent in in small groups. Couple people come out, couple people go in. As the line shortens and you get to the counter. You're given your free cheese, and asked what type of cheese you like. I gave my favorites, soft cheese, like brie, hard cheese, like manchego I like spicy cheese like hatched chili cheese or a jalapeño cheese. So after giving some examples of cheese that I like the gentleman helping me brought out three different samples and we tried them together and loved every one of them so I chose which ones I liked out of the three and then we moved down the counter a little bit, and the gentleman brought out another selection of three cheeses, and I tried those and told him which ones I liked, and they were all phenomenal. The gentleman that helped me was very attentive. He listened. he gave examples exactly what I was asking for and it was absolutely beautiful experience. even though they were packed and crazy and had 100 people waiting outside. He just treated me like we were just one on one. He took his time with me. I thought it was such a spectacular experience very personable. I walked out with 5 different cheeses. A bar of orange chocolate with dried cherries. And a baguette. And let me tell you, I ate so good during our Texas ice storm 2026! So here's the down side. Parking. There are like 8 parking spots in front. And a couple parking in the back. But beyond the back, there is a small pay with a QR code parking. It's a bit of a struggle as far as parking goes. There is no street parking. But I'm sure when you're not dealing with 100 customers it's not as much of a struggle. There are 2 accessible parking spots out front. Had a great experience. We went to a birthday party/cheese & wine tasting last night for a girl friend at Antonelli's Tasting Room on S. Lamar. It was so much fun and so informative! Bex and Resa led the tastings and they were great! They really know about their products (and others) and answered as many questions as people asked...plus they were hysterically funny! I stopped by for the first time today--and wow, they have incredible cheese! Stephanie was amazing. She greeted us right away and asked if we were looking for anything specific. We weren't, really, but she smiled and said, "No pressure," letting us know we were welcome to sample anything that caught our eye. And yes, we definitely found some standouts. Every cheese I tried was legit--rich, flavorful, and well-balanced. I had a few favorites, some imported from Europe and others from domestic farms. Each one had amazing texture and depth. They also have little sample bites ready to go in the display fridge just to the left of the entrance, and they're happy to cut small portions if that's what you need. Took part in the cheese tasting for "taste of the holidays" and had a great experience. I loved the set up inside but we were put in the annex area and I feel that took away from the experience a little as it was right by the bathroom and away from most of the other people. I'd suggest booking fewer people. But the tasting itself was amazing - the folks were super knowledgeable about the cheese and the pairings and love the wine options available as an add on. Went here over the Christmas holidays with my fam and we had a great time! Off the bat they have two locations across the street from each other. One is a store and the other for their tastings. It was BYOB with free corkage and so we walked across the street to the store and grabbed a nice bottle of wine. We went for the cheese and food pairing and it was a full house. There was one 'host' who talked about the pairings and the history and then left you to eat at your own pace. I liked the setup. There was no rush and we truly got to learn about the cheeses we were eating. We got so full that we had to box up the rest for later, which I also like that they do. We had the most wonderful experience at Antonelli's Cheese House in Hyde Park the other night. From the moment we arrived, the storefront was charming and inviting, and the staff immediately made us feel welcome, seating us promptly at our assigned table. The tasting was sold out with about 30 guests, yet it felt intimate and relaxed. Two incredibly knowledgeable and engaging women guided us through the experience, introducing an impressive lineup of cheeses--goat, sheep, and cow, cave-aged and reserve selections, and cheeses from the Netherlands, France, and even Fredericksburg. It was fun, informative, and completely over the top in the best way. I can't recommend it enough for a date night, girls' night out, or even a unique team-building experience. Antonelli's make the best charcuterie boards, hands down! I've been getting them for a holiday party I host for the past three years. They are always a big hit. I like the large-sized "cheese, meats and treats" tray the best. It comes with 5 different cheeses, 3 meats, super tasty corn nuts, peppadews, gherkins, green olives and seasonal fruit (in the winter it is usually grapes, dried apricots and dates). The apricots and dates and not overly dehydrated and still have a soft chewy texture. The tray is well packaged for pick up, and it includes a little sign that lists everything in the charcuterie board (which is nice because you can identify the cheeses and meats). This year the large-sized charcuterie boards included a free bottle of wine (and the wine was decent). It's a breeze to order online. Although parking is tight for the area, it's helpful there's a dedicated pick up window and you don't have to enter the crowded shop. read more

People also end up buying a lot. They don't realize by the time they get to checkout how much cheese they have bought. We started off the year having someone else prepare our charcuterie tray to bring in the new year with our favorite wine and it was amazing. My husband called asking what the process was on how to order and we were to order the day before prior and it would be ready the next day. They were so friendly and were straight to the point. We came here after watching a cheese episode on Top Chef recommending the Pleasant Ridge Reserve cheese. This place is dangerous for me as I'm cow lactose free. But I can do hard cow cheeses that have been aged over 60 days, sheep, and goat cheeses. This is a very small shop but it's amazing how much knowledge and curated specialty items they can fit without seeming crowded! I've heard the Antonelli's name so many times here in Austin so it was a pleasure visiting for my first time this week and feeling such warmth from everyone who works there. The star of the shop is the long glass refrigerated display counter that runs almost the length of the building along the left side with experts behind the counter who can tell you about each cheese, let you taste samples, and cut your selections to order and have them wrapped for you. There are so many varieties and special selections it's great to see them all, and one gets the impression they're all carefully chosen and sourced. There's even a selection of meats to slice at one end of the counter. Opposite the cheese case against the wall you'll find a small collection of wines and shelves for specialty jams. And if you don't have time to browse, there's a refrigerated case near the entrance with pre-sliced cheeses and meats, olives, gerkins, and everything else you might need to grab and go. You can also find a selection of fine chocolate bars by the register! So whether you need something specific or you're working on your own charcuterie spread, Antonelli's seems to have everything you could need. The prices are pretty high compared to the grocery, but you'll see things here that can't be found elsewhere and the quality is much finer. And the expertise extends to classes and other events that sound pretty amazing even for a cheese novice like me. read more

Went to Antonelli's Cheese Shop for a cheese & wine event with my colleagues, charcuterie dish making. We had a tasting of 5 different cheeses, two specks/salami, and 4 different wines (sparkling wine, rose, white, and red). I was happy as I was introduced to a new cheese that I have not tried before such as Carbonicino and also wine from the local Austin region (Maysara Pinot Gris), which I very much enjoyed! All of the other cheeses and wines I was familiar with. Before our tasting, we had a thorough description of every item we tasted and there was a large spread of crackers, pickles, and smaller dishes to pair with the cheese. They really take their time on curating these special events and I felt like I got a good variety of cheeses and got to experience something fun. So I did a cheese and donuts pairing and man it was so wacky (& cool) how well some of these pairings went together. I ended up buying on of my favorite cheeses of that night (which I might have not bought without this!). I have terminal cancer and this store has been on my bucket list even before I got sick, before Covid came close to shutting the down an certainly before the Amex Commercial!! Lol. Finally got to go yesterday and it was everything I hoped it would be. Quirky, lots of amazing selections and a very knowable staff. I felt appreciated. I was able to sample anything I wanted and with the staffs help made my selection..... Now comes the reason I can't give them a 5 and almost give the a 3. Two of the cheeses I picked were clearly marked 19.99 a pound. When he rang them up he said "oh....theses are marked wrong....." he did not tell us the new price s just rang them up and gave us our total. I was tired so it wasn't until we got to the car headed home when I realized he charged us 39.99 a pound. Big difference and it certainly would have changed how much I bought. I hope this was an honest mistake and not a business practice! If I am ever able to go back I will but I will ask the price even if the product is marked!! read more
