The shop owner is so kind and allowed us to browse all around. Despite them just moving things around and changing the display, we were able to check out some fun, curated home pieces. It really made me want to leave with my car full of things. What I love about this store is that everything is pretty highly curated for you and organized by colors and styled in a fun way, out the box and super playful. It gives you the perfect boost of dopamine you need just by walking and browsing the store. Can't wait to check out what new pieces they get in as the seasons change. In the past, the unique selections and easy atmosphere kept me coming back, but recently I have seen the business has been cut in half (the shop is 1/2 the size!) and is now much, MUCH smaller, tighter and cramped. The selection is now standard affair that one would find at any boho gift shop, especially along the Hudson. Some candles, some notecards, some souvenirs in cup or card form, some small pillows ... maybe some boho/artsy/indie jewelry. Meh cards along the wall. I get why they had to slim down and cut back ($$), but all the "trading" aspects of the shop are now gone. Maybe 10% still exists in the form of honey and an artisan candle here and there, or some jewelry, but the furniture, incenses, most artisan soaps and kitchen goods (except some souvenir cups) are all gone. There used to be a giant selection of jewelry, dream catchers, wind chimes - all echoed through the store and welcomed you in. It's now gone. Still, a great little place to stop in but it's now a lite, fat free version of what we had before. Prices are mid range and parking can be very tricky on busy weekends when tourists are all around, especially in the afternoon. Again, it's worth checking out, but don't expect any unique goods or anything that's too artisan or a really fun, fun find. Good for candles, matches, pillows, socks, some clothes in the back.

Came with measurements and a floor plan and my designer came up with a really creative way to set up my room. Sounds great - right? It was, until when the furniture was delivered, I discovered my designer had ordered the wrong size dresser/chest unit. It fits in my room but not in the way I thought it could be arranged. I called the store immediately, the designer came to the phone but offered no apologies, no options. It's a custom piece, of course, so I can't return it. But I am deeply disappointed and will not use this particular Ethan Allen again. Buying furniture should be fun - and for the price, their customers should be thrilled with how the room turns out. I can't dump tens of thousands on furniture right now - there will be plenty of business for them over time.

Ordered custom furniture for a new home that was being completed. Unfortunately there was an…read moreexplosion in the home just prior to purchasing it and I was forced to postpone the delivery of my furniture order (had nothing occurred the order would have been able to be delivered on time). This is where Ethan Allen customer service fell apart. Other vendors gladly agreed to hold my orders for many months with no issues due to the unusual unforeseen circumstances Ethan Allen refused to extend the time of holding my furniture frequently citing the terms of the contract that I had signed and that it "wasn't their fault". They wanted to force me to pay outrageous storage fees and to pay for the furniture in full, site unseen. I was forced to secure a unit at a storage facility near the property and have the furniture delivered there. This is still an expense, but much cheaper option than what Ethan Allen was going to charge me for storage. They even had the nerve to not deliver the complete order to the storage facility. They had to make a 2nd delivery to the unit a week later with the missing items. The storage unit is near my new home but is a 200 mile round trip from where I am temporarily living. So I had to travel a total of 400 miles because of their negligence with the delivery. Manager Barbara and salesperson Deborah were absolutely abominable and have zero compassion or customer service skills. I realize what occurred fell outside the parameters of their precious contract, but this was a very unique and unusual situation which required them looking past all that to help out a customer. Shame on Ethan Allen. They represent themselves as a high end store...when you are purchasing. Once the purchase has been finalized their true colors shine through. ** I live in Congers NY. We gave him a $100 deposit and he would call us when the chairs were ready. Well, the chairs were delivered today and I must say, they are perfect! When we started searching for furniture for our new house a few years ago Derbyshire popped up on just about every list I checked and had plenty of great reviews. Now that we've made a few of our own purchases I totally understand the praise this small business gets. The shop is small but mighty and packed with so many good pieces. If your style leans traditional - they've got it. If your style leans more contemporary/modern - they've got it. Plus a few things in between that could go in either direction and work with just about any style or decor. Everything is solid wood and totally customizable. You can pick your stain or paint plus your hardware (should you order something with hardware, of course). The couple that owns the shop have always been very kind and very patient, answering all the questions... especially when I was coming in every other week for too many weeks to look at dressers before I finally made up my mind. Lead time was accurate, delivery days/times were accommodating and the guys that arrived to place our items were totally courteous. For our last order/delivery the guys didn't leave until they leveled our dressers perfectly. I didn't even have to ask.. they just did it and that's how a good delivery and install team should operate. Truly, I only have good things to say about Derbyshire. Next piece of wood furniture that we need I will definitely be stopping in Derbyshire first to check things out.
