They are knowledge and genuinely like how neat all the stuff is. They are extremely personable. There is the barn filled with furniture, larger antiques and trinkets and the house building that has some really cool antiques throughout. I once saw a JFK campaign hat! The prices are fair and they are also willing to negotiate with you. Every time I've gone in as well there is new stuff which I think speaks for the amount of consigners in the area. The property itself it pretty beautiful too. While I wish I could keep this place a secret, they deserve the business. If you want a neat shopping experience go check it out and then go to their farm cafe later.

There's nothing like finding an unexpected gem while waiting for one's antique shopping in Jersey…read more There is something quite special in an item that has a history and a story behind its life and purpose. Located off of Lafayette Avenue in Hawthorne, we discovered this establishment offering antiques, furniture, household goods, and collectibles. Upon arriving at the entrance in the back, which might look small from the outside, Then and Now Consignment Shop with its floor-to-ceiling and in every nook and cranny, items come in all shapes and sizes, and finding the perfect one for your collection can be a real accomplishment. My partner and I came here looking for something to put our artificial, realistic flowers in. Already have our eyes on a couple of items and finally found a beautiful glass vase at a reasonable price. This is all worth a visit and has enough stock to keep collectors of all manner of items happy, which we can recommend.

Funny thing was I was going into the gun store and my wife love antiques and she was looking for stuff for the house. She loves antiques. This was a horrible interaction and bc of that we will never go there. The shop itself has some interesting works, however, the experience as a customer was unfortunately…read moredisappointing. The store attendant/owner was incredibly rude to my partner - a polite inquiry about the price of a piece and any possible discount was met with an exaggerated exclamation of "No! No!" and being instructed with a bit of a condescending tone to put the piece back. A far kinder and more respectful response would have been more appropriate, welcoming, and effective (something like the following would have been more called for: 'no, I'm sorry that is the price I must sell it for, let me know if you're still interested or if i can show you another piece at your price point'). After the reaction, as my partner was putting the piece back and we were already moving toward the door leaving, the attendant/owner half-heartedly offered the piece could still be had (for the stated price), but the damage was already done. Though it is hard to know for certain, and she could have been having a bad day or have this character with everyone and would like to give benefit of the doubt, it is possible that there were some unconscious racial dynamics involved as my partner is a Person of Color. My partner felt deeply embarrassed/humiliated and upset - and the incident left a bad taste. Warning to others and suggest the owner/attendant to examine their behavior toward customers and to treat them with respect and kindness.
