I drove by this consignment store a few times and a pottery-barn-style caramel armchair in the…read morewindow display caught my eye. When I finally went in, I was surprised to see that this consignment store specialized in fine furniture. Three employees in the front area were dressed professionally and I got the impression that they had trained eyes for furniture design and quality. I didn't see furniture that fit my style. This store offers large ornate & formal dining furniture (traditional / English / old-style hotels / tea rooms) and desks, sofas, hutches, lamps, accent pieces, etc. Prices seemed to range from $250 - $1000. For example, price tags on lamps were around $250 and dining tables were around $1000. These are great prices considering the pieces being sold. I saw a lamp I liked -- it looked like it was salvaged from a lighthouse and restored to near-perfect condition. I took a peek at the armchair in the window and it was only $265! The condition of the armchair was 'like new' except for a few scratches on the legs. If you're looking for country / contemporary / chic furniture styles, you won't get much from a visit to this store. But if you're looking for traditional & formal furniture, this store is for you. Note: there was a sign that said a 3% charge would apply to credit card purchases. --- P.S. I am giving this store 4 stars because of the wide selection, prices, & level of professionalism despite having little interest in the furniture styles that this store specializes in.

If not, you can find them by the registers. They're for tagging larger items you want to buy. You put the sticker on, and take it's product/price tag to the cashier for check-out. -the store is packed with items and people, which makes moving around not so easy. I don't think it's ideal for walkers, wheelchairs, or strollers. If you have mobility challenges, navigating may be tough. -some items don't have a price tag, like the pillow I bought. I asked the cashier how the price is determined, and was advised they assign what they think is a fair price at check-out. My pillow was valued at $4. -i got there at 10:07am, 7 mins after they opened and there were people everywhere. That said, if you're a serious shopper arrive early to see the goods before the super-early birds snatch it all up. -again, it's filled with stuff; mainly furniture, home decor, dinnerware, kitchen goods, some shoes, books, and I even saw cute scarves and bags. It didn't seem like a destination for clothes. Now that I'v summed that up, I do believe it's a nice option for thrifting and would definitely recommend it.

Love this place. Don't go there cuz you might buy something I want…read more I bought two Eames vintage chairs, a vintage stainless steel rolling cart so we can put stuff on it (coffee, liquor, food) and roll it around the house. I also bought two vintages designer lights and a couple pieces of glass labware to put cocktails in and put on the rolling cart to roll around the house (see above). I also bought a very cool looking gumball machine where you push down a little lever and a gumball comes out.** **I have put real gumballs and M&M peanuts in this thing and it has yet to spit out a gumball. It's pretty cool, though. OK, these guys have vintage cocktail glasses and shakers (do you see a problem here?) and more labware that I might buy. And a couple great vintage stands from a chemistry lab that has lots of clamps for test tubes. I'm trying to justify this one. My god!! They have two gigantic overhead light fixtures on rolling frames. If you live in one of those hoity-toity warehouses there is no excuse not to buy these. O, VINYL RECORDS YOU PEOPLE. SOUNDTRACK ALERT!! Endless Boogie was playing on their sound system. New favorite band. Ba-bump ba-bump ba-bump (Jaws) they are only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from about noon on.

If I could even call it 'work' more like 'an absolute joy' When I heard about your antiquification process and method, I must admit I was unsure...well, here we are, aren't we? So I had inherited an almost new bedside table from IKEA. I had the receipt and everything, the thing was about 3 months old. I didn't much care for it, to be honest and planned on giving it to Goodwill or auctioning it off. A Nepalese sherpa told me: "Hold that thought" while guiding me through his wonderful terrain. SO, upon returning to the US I called you guys up and 2 hours later I was witnessing a miracle. You made this IKEA table look 150 years old! I swear to Christ that it's a genuine antique now and I polish it 2-3 times per week, I use mayonnaise because I heard Celine Dion talk about how good it is to lather your antiques in mayo, she said this on the Oprah Winfrey show...and BY GOD, does it work. Something to do with the oil in the condiment. I plan on finding ALL MANNER of things around the house and having them antiquified...I've already bought TWO brand new things that I want to have antiquified to look EVEN older than the IKEA table. I wonder how far back you can go with this process! 5 out of 5 EASY, can NOT recommend enough Regards, - Sasha

Oooh, this place is fun! It's located in the antiquing capital of Minneapolis (50th & Xerxes) near…read moreHunt & Gather and Piccadilly Prairie (and a whole host of other ones). The other stores seem over-priced and stuffy, but The Loft is much more down-to-earth, and has a more eclectic aesthetic. The guy who owns the store salvaged an old Midwestern barn, and the whole store has been renovated with the materials, giving it a rustic, homey atmosphere, and a TOTALLY different vibe than the other stores around town. We recently bought a quaint ice-cream-parlor set for our front porch, and felt like we walked away with an awesome deal. The set was in great shape, and we were able to negotiate down about 10%, which made us not only love our furniture even more, it made us love the people at The Loft even more. What they lack in attitude and pretention they make up for in style. The basement is the real gem, with rooms filled with everything from old dishes + knick-knacks to dining sets + beautiful old wood furniture. I'd say the best part about this store is the people who work there, who aren't afraid to smile and chat and answer questions patiently (we can be sllooowww decision-makers!). The assorment of styles here is impressive, and is fairly evenly dispersed across the last 10-15 decades. There are some precious old children's books + dressers alongside bright + bold vinyl couches, like Scarlett O'Hara falling through the rabbit hole and ending up in Austin Powers' apartment - it would make you a basket case in your own home, but, in the store, it somehow makes perfect sense. This is one place I feel simply lovely about patronizing. It isn't an overwhelmingly large + cluttered space, and, if nothing else, you'll get to wander around in the remains of an old barn right in the middle of our little Minneapolis-town.
