Little crowded with items but you won't find better prices. Great customer service and things move through here.

After going to several "big name" jewelry stores, we quickly realized that we weren't going to find our forever pieces. From the first moment we walked into Freeman and Foote, Heidi was right there to walk us around and make us feel comfortable. We ended up purchasing both of our wedding ring sets from her. They are handmade, one-of-a-kind, vintage pieces, stamped with the jewelry designers insignia. After the wedding, decided to solder our engagement and wedding bands. We went back to Heidi, who not only provided this for us, free of charge, but made our experience all the more happy again! We will always see Heidi!

Following speaking with her I paid for their services and walked back to my car, which was parked across the street from my place of employment. As I was getting into my car I noticed the employee I was speaking to at Freeman & Foot Jewelers walk in front of my place of employment; and turn around and head back towards the jewelry store. Seeing the employee perform this act I felt I was being profiled, due to the fact that I am a young African American male. I will no longer do business with this company, and I will suggest anyone who does to spend their money elsewhere.

I had another gem that I wanted reset/remade into a different ring, so I decided to give Cunningham a try. First impression when you walk in is that the place is small and very clean. I wasn't looking to buy anything from the case, and I can't comment on their stock. I was greeted by Brian Cunningham, and I explained what I wanted and showed him pictures of my inspiration. Basically the task was to take a crappy yet sentimental ruby out of a ring from Plumb Gold and set it in a more simple, modern band. Brian - super helpfully - looked at the pictures, said he could save me money by melting the gold from the ring down himself, fashion a band with a new bezel, and reset the stone. Um, WHAT?! I was blown away. At "Flennons" when I asked for and described and showed pictures of the ring I would like to have, the salesperson plopped down a huge catalogue of settings, went through it, and gave me the closest approximation. Essentially not custom at all, that took two full weeks, with a $700 cost to boot. $700 for being somewhat satisfied is kind of bullsh*t. Brian fabricated something brand new, that was EXACTLY what I wanted, that took maybe five days and cost $125. I will never shop at another jewelry store again.

I have had custom sterling silver rings made for my siblings (from some silver left by our parents). We were all very happy. I recommend paying a visit when considering jewelry purchase.

However, I live alone and am responsible for everything, so sometimes I'm in a pinch, as was the case today. I was in need of extra money for bills and so decided to sell several dvds, some jewelry, my dslr camera, and vintage Dudson, Wilcox & Till china. I wanted to support a local business rather than use eBay, so I webt to the Leggs Diamond location in Big Apple Plaza around 11:55 am (they supposedly open at 11 am). The door was locked and there was a phone number on the door. I called the number and was told that the employee was taking care of her horses because it was hot and that she'd be there within the hour. Okay. I have to take care of my animals in the heat and still make it to work on time, but maybe the supervisor/owner is being flexible. I ran some errands and returned around 12:45 to find the door still locked with the sign still in the window. I called again and asked if I could be called when someone was there because I'd already made two trips out there. The man who answered called the person who was supposed to be there and said that she wasn't answering. I waited in the parking lot - wasting gas and battery because it's too hot to not have at least the fan blowing - until around 1 and then went home and listed my items on eBay. There was no apology and no effort other than one phone call and I wasted two hours and a lot of gasoline on my day off. If you have jewelry, go to Gold Leaf Refining in the New Hartford Shopping Center, and just deal with eBay for anything else.
