Have been using AA for YEARS! They're like a giant family! Highly recommend them. They treat our kids like their own

I would give it no stars but it won't let me. I would never take any kid of mine to this place because of what I saw at a little kids baseball game the other day, two of their employees started a fight at a little kids baseball game that this academy sponsor. The were flipping off people and yelling profanities around young kids!!!! This teachers should not be teaching anyones kids or looking after anyone's kids. I've gone to this daycare since I was in kindergarten. The way they shape good people is what I value most. Being around the staff in this place is like being in their house, with their kids they take care of them and teach them virtues that not many daycares teach. read more

I'm giving one star because it won't allow me to give zero and still leave a comment. We recently visited AA and went through the motions of enrolling our 2 year old daughter. The facility is close to home and had good feedback. However my gut was telling me that something just wasn't right so I decided to visit a few more times before our scheduled start date. I'm glad I did! When we walked in nobody acknowledged our presence. there was no welcoming committee and all the girls in what would be my daughter's room continued about their activities which at the time consisted of making children sit at a table while they cleaned up the room. as the children grew restless as 2 and 3 year olds typically do they were scolded for not sitting still and waiting for the room to be cleaned. Once this was done they children were escorted outside to play where they were repeatedly yelled at for everything under the sun. I understand children need discipline for safety purposes, but in a teaching environment, these should be teaching moments not reasons to yell. This was visit number two, I went back for a third visit during a different time of day to see what would be different. On this day, the girls seemed very disinterested in being there. One in particular sat and talked about how awful she felt and how she wasn't in the mood for this while sipping her iced coffee. When one little girl asked her to read a book she scoffed, looked at me and then reluctantly agreed. This was the final straw and I decided to not continue with our enrollment. Once I notified AA that we would not continue I was told that my deposit, which is to be used for the last week's tuition payment would not be returned. I called and spoke to the owner who essentially told me tough luck and that I need to follow the rules. His name is Ted and was extremely rude and abrasive. I now know why he allows his employees to act this way with the children. What a shock and disappointment this turned out to be. I'm glad I went with my gut though. It basically cost me $235 to find out what a lousy place this is. read more

Amazed at the family who wasn't pleased with Antietam Academy after not having ever actually enrolled their children. In response, I say that if I could give Antietam Academy 10 stars, I would. Our family has been part of Antietam Academy for almost 10 years. Seeing a snippet of what goes on in a classroom during the day does not equal seeing an entire day. To keep an entire class of young toddlers (or children of any age!) safe requires routine. If that means telling children to sit quietly and politely while eating their snack, that's what will be done. What a terrible decision on their part not to let their children experience one of the best daycare facilities in the area. Both of my children have attended Antietam Academy since they were approximately 15 months old. This is one daycare that thinks outside the box. My kids were not simply placed in a room and allowed to wander and play unsupervised the entire day. Perhaps that's what the 1-star folks expected and/or wanted. No, this is a care facility that offers a structured day with time to play, to learn, to share, and to grow. There is a curriculum that allows children to explore and learn so many new things! They make their own applesauce. They sing songs, talk about the weather, the calendar, and the seasons. They taste test new foods and rate them. They learn about community roles - firemen, police, teachers, doctors, etc. They are encouraged to interact with peers appropriately. They are given sensory activities - drawing with shaving cream, painting with coffee grounds, playing at a "water table" filled with rice! They learn letters and sounds, and by the time they are ready for kindergarten, they are MORE than ready. Antietam Academy is a fabulous facility with a staff who truly cares about the children in so many ways. If you want to watch your children succeed, learn, grow, and become self-confident individuals, this is the place for you. read more
