I went to him a while ago, with 2 trench coats. I came on the promised date and was told they were not ready (never received a call from him). Then I came the second time couple weeks later, he forgot to move the loops on one piece. The 3rd time I came, I finally got those back, but the left and right side of the sleeves were NOT EVEN!!! Will never go to him again!!! Had to spend extra bucks elsewhere to fix that problem, because Anthony was so so so rude!!! read more

I went here after reading a lot of reviews on the best place to get your wedding dress altered. The first time i went it was a little hard to find, tucked away in a corner. As soon as you enter you are greeted by an older Italian man which was the owner Anthony. I could not be more pleased with them. they treat you like you are family and his wife that does all of the wedding dresses is wonderful. they remember who you are and are not afraid to tell you what they think about what should be done. my dress has turned out wonderful, and i brought a second one in that was done in no time. they are reasonably priced as well. read more

I have known Anthony when he worked for Ted Lapidus on Michigan Ave, and Stuart Chicago on Oak Street. He then branched out on his own and opened his first store in Chicago, then Barrington and now his present location in Highland Park, Il. He is an excellent Tailor, and will not do any short cuts in his tailoring to make fast money. (as they say in his trade). He takes pride in his work and if he does a re-cut on a suit you will not see pockets of your pants meeting in the middle, or gathering of material. He will rip the complete suit apart and put it back together with the proper adjustments on the entire suit, not just parts of it. This is obviously a much longer process but the correct one. You know the saying you get what you pay for. His knowledge and expertise, comes from going to design school for women and men. He made me several suits and dresses for me back in the day by just bringing a picture to him from a magazine. As well he has done my alterations for several years now. I have tried other tailors and seamstress and there is no comparison or the quality of work. Be prepared that sometimes you will wait longer for your garments to be ready. He tries to please everyone and takes on too much work. He does most of the work himself. In the end the wait is worth it. read more

ALL TAILORING TAKES 4 WEEKS - ANTHONY WILL NOT RESPECT YOUR TIME. First time I've ever wasted my time to write a negative review - Anthony was that bad. Specifically he: (1) didn't complete the work on the schedule HE created (2) didn't update me or offer any explanations as WEEKS passed by (3) was abrasive and unprofessional when I finally picked up 28 DAYS AFTER DROPPING OFF. I tried Anthony based on other reviews, many characterizing him as an "old school Italian tailor". But I found out one thing that comes along with that characterization is a certain arrogance that Anthony - and only Anthony - will decide the importance and urgency of your alterations. Eventually he made explicitly clear to me that if you aren't willing to fall to the whim of his "I'll get to it when I get to it" approach, HE DOESN'T WANT YOU AS A CUSTOMER. Also, read Kenpachi Z.'s review as well. Sounds like the same experience. I wish I would have listened. I brought 5 garments with a very simple alteration to each. Here are some of my favorite gems from my brief interactions with Anthony: - When dropping off: "I'll call you [in 12 days] when I'm done". Seemed long but I wasn't in a hurry. - 20 days later when I'd heard nothing and called: "I haven't got to it yet, it will be done [in 4 more days]" - 7 days after that when I called again: "I'm done with some of the garments but need two more days for the rest" When I finally picked up, 28 DAYS AFTER DROPPING OFF, for some reason I still hoped to use Anthony in the future. So I asked if the month-long wait was normal. Rather than being apologetic Anthony's demeanor sharply flipped and he began raising his voice and becoming abrasive. There were no other customers in his shitty back-alley shop at the time to hear highlights including: - "If you don't like the wait you go somewhere else. LOOK AROUND, I'M NOT IN NEED OF MORE WORK" - "If you want your clothes done right, it's not wise to criticize your tailor" - "You can go anywhere, but if you want the work done RIGHT you have to wait", as if he'd been slaving over my specific garments day and night for 28 days without working on anything else. I think that works out to about 2 or 3 individual stitches per day. - "You want good work but you want it to be done like that [snaps fingers]". Ah yes, how silly of me to expect a simple sleeve shortening to be done inside of a month. Curious if he pushed my alterations off in favor of other, perhaps long-term customers I asked how many people had come in AFTER me and already picked up their garments. He said "NONE", then walked to the back and brought out other garments with dates on the tags, I guess to PROVE just how universally bad he is at delivering on his own promise dates. Truly astounding. To be clear, I never raised my voice and only asked the simple questions I mentioned above. Key takeaways: (1) NO alterations will be performed in less than 28 days (2) Anthony has NO NEED FOR YOUR BUSINESS. So please alleviate him of that burden. read more

Anthony is an excellent tailor. He took an expensive but outdated shorts outfit and turned it into an up to date skirt suit! No one would know it wasn't always a skirt; it's perfectly tailored. Anthony has been our tailor for more than twenty years. He has seen my children grow up. He's not just our tailor; he's our dear friend. He's honest, too. If you bring him something you're not sure whether you should tailor or get rid of, he will tell you the truth; it's not about the fact that he'd make money on you.
