She connected the dots between my medical history, daily habits, and birth experience in a way no one else had. I felt prepared for conversations with my care team instead of overwhelmed. She helped me adapt my plan when unexpected challenges came up, like getting covid :(. Her care didn't just help me feel physically strong and balanced during pregnancy--it also minimized risks for both me and my baby. Postpartum, her support continued to make a huge difference in my recovery. If you're looking for a doula who genuinely cares and provides thoughtful, individualized care, I cannot recommend Viji enough! After a traumatic first pregnancy and postpartum preeclampsia, I was considered high-risk during my second pregnancy as well. Around 32 weeks, I started seeing elevated blood pressure readings along with severe white coat syndrome. I was anxious and searching for support, and that's when I found Viji. Even before our first consultation, I had a strong feeling that she was God-sent -- a true blessing -- and that feeling only grew stronger with time. Viji stepped in with so much calm, confidence, and care. She took everything upon herself and made sure I was prepared in every possible way -- physically, mentally, and emotionally. She guided me through provider decisions, helped me find the right midwifery care, and thoughtfully connected me with an exceptional midwife, Lin Lee, who aligned perfectly with my needs. Because of Viji's discernment and support in building the right team around me, my entire experience was completely different from my first pregnancy. The birth itself felt smooth and empowering -- no tears, no episiotomy, and my blood pressure remained well controlled throughout. What truly sets Viji apart is how deeply she cares and how holistic her approach is. She took the time to understand my full medical history and personal background, worked to get to the root of my previous complications, and helped me navigate provider complexities with clarity and confidence. She also combined her Jyotish knowledge to help identify the most supportive and auspicious timing for my induction, which brought me an incredible sense of peace and trust going into labor. During labor, Viji was there through it all. She supported me with Ayurvedic care, calming massages, constant reassurance, and gentle guidance. She made sure I was comfortable, grounded, and never felt alone. She even stayed with me through the entire night -- watching over me, advocating for me, and helping me make important decisions when I was exhausted and vulnerable. Because of Viji, my second birth experience became healing, empowering, and beautiful. She didn't just help me prepare for birth -- she helped me heal from my past experience and trust my body again. I will always be grateful for her presence, her wisdom, and the love she brought into one of the most important moments of my life. I thank God every day for leading me to her at exactly the right time.

My first cycle was at Kaiser…read moreOakland, but that clinic dissolved and I was made to get my second round here at Kaiser Fremont. HORRIFIC. I wouldn't recommend my enemy's dog get treatment here. The care was essentially nonexistent. I felt like I was a number on an assembly line. Nurses never answer the phone -- you're forced to leave a message and they will call you back within a day or two. The doctors spend 5 minutes in the room with you. On the day of my egg retrieval (a Saturday) the anesthesiologist walked in after the procedure with her personal bag on her shoulder. What a way to signal to your patients what time, dedication, and attention you have for them. I had a complication after the egg retrieval. I called and called, but could not reach the doctor. I passed out twice at home. The nurse called back and told me to eat and drink Gatorade. Something felt very wrong (compared to my first round) so my husband ended up taking me to the emergency room. My abdomen was filled with fluid (diagnosed with OHSS). To this day I still never heard from my REI doctor. Last, the results of our treatment (number of embryos, results of genetic testing) were all sent via EMAIL! The reports were not the outcome we hoped for. I expected some personalization with at least a phone call -- some display of empathy. None. A few weeks later I asked for the generic testing report and was told to contact medical records. I was never offered a follow-up visit. It's like once my eggs came out and I wouldn't be doing the transfer they washed their hands with me. Overall this experience was traumatic, hurtful, and the worst interaction I've ever had with medical care in my life. IVF is emotionally, psychologically, and financially draining. You'd expect professionals to be, well, professional. We received zero compassion, zero personalization, zero care. It was a very stark contrast to our experience at Kaiser Oakland. If Kaiser Fremont offered a free round of IVF, I'd respectfully say "no thank you."

Together, we created a clear plan that made us feel confident and cared for from day one. The nursing and front desk staff were truly amazing--kind, responsive, and always reassuring. We knew we could call with any question or concern and receive a thoughtful response within 24 hours, which made such an emotional process feel manageable and supported. We were incredibly fortunate to be successful on our first attempt at every step, from egg retrieval to insemination. We truly believe Bay IVF's holistic approach played a huge role in that success. In addition to excellent medical care, we were given guidance on nutrition and recommended foods to help optimize our chances, which made us feel seen as whole people--not just patients. I felt devastated and overwhelmed. I wasn't emotionally ready for IVF and couldn't stop thinking about the physical and emotional toll it might take on me. Around that time, I found Dr. Yao while searching for fertility support on Yelp. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Dr. Yao took a holistic and deeply personalized approach. Naturally, my heart was broken for her and I was deeply disturbed by the fact that nothing more was done for her despite the many thousands of dollars these treatments cost. It was a humiliating experience. I was livid. I just completed 1 cycle of egg freezing with Dr. Murugappan and had a great, smooth experience. I called their office and told them my interest of egg freezing and was scheduled the next week with Dr. Murugappan. The consult, and meeting the Doctor and staff is what made me commit to Spring Fertility. From the front desk to the nurses, everyone was welcoming and kind. My consult was great. Dr. M was just as excited as I was to start this adventure and I could tell whole heartedly, she loves what she does. We talked about my goals and obtained a baseline ultrasound. I left the initial consult with confidence I wanted Dr. M as my doctor. I have Kaiser insurance and of course they wouldn't cover any of this so I paid out of pocket. Me choosing Spring Fertility wasn't taken lightly. (Yay healthcare in USA) After the consult my labs were drawn and I was contacted by their finance division to go over payment methods. What helped me was the 0 interest monthly payments they have available. I'm a single female that's trying to be proactive about her fertility and health. Spring Fertility uses an app called Salve. That is where most of your communication happens with the staff. All your documents, information, how to's, medication videos info, everything you need. Every-time I had questions (which was frequent), I got a response within a hour. What other doctor office do you know that responds within a hour?! These reviews complain that their messages didn't get answered immediately! It's called triage and most urgent gets answered first. Lots of entitlement in these reviews. Back to Spring! Once my lab results were in, all medications were delivered to my house which I loved. I was able to look them all over and watch the how to videos on the Salve app. They also give you a zoom class on the meds as well. I was overwhelmed at first but the videos helped a lot and it was actually pretty easy once the nerves passed. If you're starting fertility treatment, you should be 100% all in, not traveling and complaining that you have to bring medications with you.....duh. Through all this I had constant communication with staff, nurses, medical assistants and Dr. M. I was in and out frequently for ultrasounds and felt 100% comfortable everytime. Closer to the trigger date, I had more blood work done to make sure my body was responding appropriately. You will get bloated from this process because your follicles and ovaries are becoming enlarged so get your stretchy pants ready. Like any medical practice, the doctors AREN'T supposed to be doing everything like some reviews complained...think of any management style, is the boss supposed to be the one running the front desk? Or answering all the calls? No...that's why we hire additional staff. The ignorance of some people on here. Wild. Back to business. So, trigger day comes. I take the medication and egg retrieval was scheduled. I was a little nervous for it but as soon as I got to pre op and saw how everyone was so caring and gentle, I completely felt at ease. You are completely asleep (not intubated) for this procedure so you don't feel ANYTHING. Procedure is about 15-20 minutes then you wake up in the recovery room. 10/10 for my anesthesiologist and Dr. M, you're amazing! Best nap of my life. I received more messages through the app about recovery and Dr. M called me later that day and told me how many eggs we were able to successfully freeze. Notice I said "we", because the whole time I felt like we were family on this adventure together. Recovery has some mild pain, expected and managed with Tylenol. I'm most excited to workout again and lose the fluid weight I gained through the hormones. Which is totally normal btw! I'll be back in the gym in no time. Through Spring Fertility, I was able to make sure my future is in my hands and if I want kids later on in life, it's MY decision. What an empowering feeling. He took the time to review my history thoroughly and suggested a couple of key procedures that ultimately made all the difference. He focused on getting my uterus into the best possible shape to receive the embryo, something that gave me confidence I hadn't felt before. Even then, I wasn't sure it would work, but our very first transfer at RMA took. The care team is exceptional. Everything runs smoothly and efficiently, and I never felt like just another patient. Nurse Kylie was absolutely wonderful and always responded to my questions right away, which brought so much reassurance during such an emotional process. # They take the liberty of canceling your appointments even without your confirmation!!!…read more If you ever want your doctor's appointment to be canceled, even without your knowledge, then you are in luck, and the Doctor's patient service manager takes all the credit and liberty in doing this. Personally, I don't know the doctor, but I saw really good reviews for her and her team. Thinking that they would all be professional and provide an excellent diagnosis and service, I scheduled an appointment with her by calling Sutter Health's patient care line back in June this year for a UTI/Vaginal discomfort diagnosis. I got very frustrated when they cancelled my appointment today (10/4) for the one I had on (10/6) without even asking for my confirmation. They called me around 11:30 am while I was still in an office meeting, and even before I could hear the voicemail and respond, I got a message on the Sutter Health app saying that my appointment had been cancelled. My husband and I kept calling the Los Altos office from noon to 3 pm to find out why and how they could proceed without my confirmation. We just kept hearing that the manager was still in her "lunch". Only after speaking with patient relations was I able to connect with the relevant person. The staff member (Betty) who spoke informed me that they had the right to cancel my appointment without my consent, and I should be aware of all the conditions related to OB/GYN that Dr. Shin would diagnose. We found these comments to be unprofessional and rude, lacking empathy for me. Additionally, in the reason for cancellation, they mentioned that since I have already established my patient care at another facility within Sutter Health, I should go there instead. This seemed absurd, as I had already scheduled an appointment with the Los Altos center earlier in June. How can a patient be expected to be aware of all this information? Isn't this the duty of a patient relations manager? In the end, the staff sounded a little rude and even said, "I know you have a patient relation number, and if you want to proceed with the grievance, go ahead." This kind of attitude in health care is unacceptable, and it is not fair to cancel a critical appointment without a patient's consent. My right as a patient to reasonable continuity of care, advance notice of appointments, and participation in care decisions was violated. I request that the Sutter Health Patient Care Team investigate this matter so that, in the future, no one can end up in a similar situation.
