That said, it was clearly all about money, not service. I am not qualified to judge the quality of the surgery he performed. We will find that out in the future from our dentist. What was unsatisfactory was his beside manner and surgical approach. While I was in the office, he was perfunctory, as in rude to use the word my daughter used. Not comforting or pleasant. When my daughter came out of the treatment room quickly (about 10 minutes), I asked her about her experience. Apparently, Dr. Vakkas used Novocain but did not wait for it to take effect so she would be numb. She experienced lots of pain. We had chosen to use oral sedation, not IV. I have had two similar surgeries, I had no sedation, just Novocain and experienced no pain. He did not seem to care about her discomfort. When he completed the surgery, he just walked out without saying anything to her. Not the way to treat any patient, never mind a teenager. Needless to say, we will not be returning nor recommending him.

He went and accused me of going there for a second opinion which he rudely said he doesn't do. I repeated to him that he needs to read the referral letter as it clearly says it's for his opinion to evaluate me. He insisted that it said that it said to pull as that was exactly what it says. Then he went onto tell me his procedure which he explained that he does bone graft which I explained that I wasn't interested in bone graft and he said that bone graft is required for every implant. I i formed him that I was under the impression that a 3d scanner was required to evaluate the bone and he gave a snappy response saying what kinda dentist did I go to as if I went to a crappie dentist and that they must of put bone graft and just didn't tell me. In all honesty I think it's low class to try and bad mouth other establishments as if your own establishment is not top shelf as well, this guy gives the impression as a fast talking salesman rather then an oral surgeon trying to make 1600 dollars on bone grafting. Sitting on top of a crappie restaurant has gotten to this Oral surgeons head that he needs to be opinionated on other establishments and outright lie to make a sale. It is well documented in the implant industry that it's 50/50 for the need for bone grafting. Im not to keen to having some deceased person bone in my mouth

The staff here is wonderful - very warm and welcoming - no attitudes, etc. I`ve only seen Dr.Paul, and he is beyond excellent. He speaks to you in terms you can understand, and he takes the time to ensure you do in fact understand. No rushing. I had put off going to the dentist in the past out of fear - I usually pass out at the mere sight of a needle - but in many years with Dr.Paul (and unfortunately many needles!) it has never happened once. He is very gentle, and during the procedure checks in with you to make sure pain medication hasn't worn off and that you are comfortable. Recently, I have needed some pretty extensive work that they don't do here, and had to be referred to an oral surgeon. As Dr.Paul was not doing the work, he had to "skin in the game" so to speak, and no profit to be made - however he has taken much time to discuss my options with me, refer me to appropriate oral surgeons, and follow up on the treatment plan. He truly cares about his patients and them receiving the appropriate care. Financially, the dentist is always an ugly place, as even with insurance, procedures are costly - this is true for anywhere (and I do believe you get what you pay for.) However, their office does work with you for more costly procedures and provides payment plans, which was very helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Valhalla Dental - I have recently moved over 200 miles away and still visit this office for my dental needs - it's that good :)
