The property is privately owned so you need to pay 5 dollars to park there. Edwina took us down the Bare trail (referring to bare feet) to the bottom of the canyon. She helped us along the way down through the steep parts. We stopped along the way and Edwina told us the history of her people which included her own personal family experience going back several generations. She even demonstrated a native warning call. The trail was beautiful and scenic. We felt much closer to nature than taking a jeep tour. The trail was unspoiled. This is one of the few services that offer hiking into the canyon. It is a great way to explore nature. Elenor Yoe did the scheduling and was very responsive. This tour gave us insight into the lives of the Dine people.

In addition to being led down into the Canyon on a path unique to our hiking experience (over the rocks, not on a to-us-traditional trail), we gained a deeper appreciation for the history of the people of this Canyon. Thank you, Edwina, for sharing your knowledge with us. We would recommend this tour company AND hiking off season. One request for next time (as I hope to go back): It would be great to have a map for reference when discussing options at the onset so we could specifically see miles and elevation changes. Thanks again!!

After arriving I walked around choosing our site. Some spots would not fit a 30+ft fifth wheel, but the one I did pick was perfect. We were the only one in the campground. Oct is a perfect time to visit. The owner came by later in the afternoon to check on us to see if we needed anything & collect payment. The night skies were amazing, you could see the Milky Way, because there is no light pollution. We were there 3 nights & couldn't believe how quite it was. Only saw 2 others in the whole camp. All sites are dirt, but fairly level. Owner hand built the campground with his uncle. He was a wealth of information about area. No hook ups, but there was an old porta potty (we did not use) RV has it's own. This is a no frills campground, bring what you need---take out what you brought. Generators are allowed, but please be respectful on quite times. Picnic tables & hand built rock fire rings were available. Dogs are allowed on leash, not a good idea to let them off, because there are wild animals in the area (didn't see any). Bring all your own food & camping items, because nothing is available on site. There are sites that I saw that would be tent only. We were very happy with price for the spot we got. Bring wood or buy from owner $7 a bundle, both are allowed. Safe fires were allowed. Highly recommend you give this place a try. $15 dollars a night for RVs No credit cards allowed, so bring cash. Right amount would be best.

The location was close and it was a comfortable stay. Our room was nice, especially with the comfortable bed. In fact, of all the places we stayed at during our Arizona road trip, I'd say this hotel had the most comfortable bed. We only stayed for one night and since we had a lot of hiking planned, we needed to get up early. But I truly could've slept here for hours! If only... In addition to a comfortable bed, there was a mini fridge, TV with cable, free wifi, coffee and tea with a Keurig machine, toiletries, hair dryer, AC, etc. Our room was also on the bottom level, so we had sliding patio doors that walked out to the pool. The upper levels had balconies. The only bummer about staying here was that we thought there would be a continental breakfast, which is what Holiday Inn is known for. Unfortunately, there is no free breakfast. They do have a restaurant in the hotel, and it closes at 8pm. (We learned this the hard way.) Also, there were a ton of stray dogs around, which we didn't mind. But something to note if you don't like or are scared of dogs. They didn't bother the guests. We tried to feed them whatever food we had since they sadly looked hungry. Poor babies! Overall, this was a good stay. If you're in the area and are planning to visit Canyon De Chelly, you can't beat this location. And you'll want to sleep in the bed all night and morning long!

It would be better to put the whole motel "vacant" for a month and fumigate /heat treat than to risk the reputation of the tribal cultural center. I really didn't want to say anything negative about this place where such kind, polite and understanding people work, but this issue ruined our trip and cost us a lot of money.

The location has a small motel with clean rooms and a coffee shop. Very limited menu. No alcohol available. No gas station. No grocery store. The Art gallery is not always open. It seems like only knowledgeable tourists from distant places like Japan, Germany and a few of us Americans who seek the solitude of desert night skies, the less hurried surroundings and the occasional informal conversations with native peoples / local artists & artisans. The landscape is very harsh. Yet - this is the land of the Hopi who retain traditions and cultural heritage and continue with a sense of community. I originally visited here in the mid-1970s. That was pre-Yelp.
