There is no signage so you have to look out for the name of the building and go in. Beefbar is quite large and can accommodate a lot of people. We sat down and ordered. SO wanted steak and I wanted to try the Uni tagliatelle. I know, it's counterproductive to be ordering pasta at a steak restaurant but I don't eat beef and didn't feel like fish. I also ordered the kale salad. They gave us ceviche on a small tortilla chip (they called it a taco) as an amuse bouche. It was fresh and crunchy. My kale salad came out and it was not a Californian's kale salad but more radicchio/butter lettuce/kale salad. Thank goodness this was small. It was refreshing. My Uni tagliatelle was delicious - the creaminess of the uni and the creamy sauce and perfectly cooked tagliatelle made this a decadent dish. I was so full I couldn't eat dessert. SO said his steak was really good. We were so full we couldn't order dessert but they brought out a tray of small vanilla cream puffs for us which was a nice finish to our dinner. Service was attentive when we sat down but got kind of lost after the restaurant filled up.

My rating is based on: Food: 4 stars Atmosphere: 4.5 stars Service: 4 stars The interior of the restaurant is immaculate and really radiates a fine dining vibe. Service was good as to be expected from a place of this caliber and price level. I ordered the A5 Wagyu steak, beef tartare, and Mac and cheese. Steak was prepared at a nice medium rare and the meat was supper fatty and tender. This was definitely the best part of the meal. We also had the tartar which is a dish they are known for. It wasn't my favorite but I'm not a beef tartar fan. The Mac and cheese was really rich, creamy and cheesy with a nice char on top for crunch. I enjoyed this dish quite a bit. Beef bar is one of the better steak houses that I have tried in Hong Kong and would recommend it for a date night or special occasion.

However the duck leg is very meh.. small portion and not that great. Oyster was small but tasted ok. I have to say one staff was giving us such bad service - when we asked for the wine list without knowing it's at the back, she just took the menu away. If I ever come back again, I would not sit upstairs. Downstairs is way nicer.

Post-COVID, it's gotten worse year over year and now that Nicholini is closed, the buffet no longer stretches across the entire floor, it's limited to just Brasserie. The restaurant was packed to the gills pre-COVID but now only a handful of tables were occupied while we were there. Gone is the unlimited lobster, shrimp and other seafood and instead you'll get a platter with one of each and if you want oysters, you have to pay a surcharge of US$4 per piece. There's no longer a carving station and instead they put out a braised beef stew and another low quality item I can't even remember. The sushi/sashimi station is also gone and instead you'll get a pre-assembled fish bite of some kind. The live pasta station is still there but with mediocre selection, it's good but not something you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. The rest of the buffet is just so sad with very limited and low quality selections, there's a tuna fish salad on offer, need I say more? They're also stingy with their champagne, we had to ask for a refill a couple of times and they stopped pouring half an hour before closing. We've given this restaurant more chances than it deserves and this time we're saying goodbye to them for good. For the price that we paid which was over US$150 per person, there're better choices out there.

The steak was very tender and juicy, making every bite melting in your mouth. Also, the steak had a good amount of salt, not needing to add more salt unlike most steak places I've tried. The steak had a good meat to fat ratio. The spinach was sautéed with garlic. The spinach had a very strong and delicious garlic flavor plus the perfect amount of salt and juiciness. Worth to try. Also, although the rice was just simple and steamed, the rice tasted good and it wasn't over cooked. The seating area was nice and had a nice outside view. Although the price may seem pricy, the food quality was totally worth it. Overall, very delicious meal and will come again to possibly try another dish. 10/10

From the moment we walked in to when we left, everything was impeccable! The service was top notch, flawless and elegant, but not uptight like most other places. Our waitress was very attentive, even threw in a few jokes here and there, which you don't see much at any upscale restaurants, definitely made the experience more unique. They have live music EVERY NIGHT! The singer even dressed better than we did lol. This is definitely the place you want to dress up for, and not just because the dress code is actually enforced. Let's talk about the most important thing: food. Everything is cooked, prepared, and presented beautifully. The food is delicious. Even the breads and butters (3 different types of butter!) that they serve as filler before your meal are to die for! You can request as much of the bread as you want, and you should eat as much of the bread as you can since the food portions are very small. I know fancy restaurants are not the place to stuff your face and get full, but I do it anyway lol. If my meal was going to cost more than $100USD anywhere, I better walk out of there full! Overall, it was a great experience. I just wish the food portion was bigger. Compares to the other fine dining option at the Peninsula (Felix), this is a better choice if you don't mind little to no view at all.

I decided on a Quinoa Salad topped with a side of grilled beef (note: beef needed time to rest after serving, wait for about 5 min and it would be about right). Overall decent food for brunch - not exceedingly expensive - would definitely go back. More so since it's just a stone's throw away - happy to have another decent restaurant in the hood.

The staff were great! They let us arrive early and decorate the table with balloon, confetti and appropriate party theme head wear. They were also so patient as we waited for about 45 minutes before we ordered any food as the guest of honour was running a little behind schedule. The restaurant has a super atmosphere; relaxed, chilled and totally adds to the upcoming buzz of the Sai Ying Pun neighbourhood. The food did not disappoint either. We started off with group sharing starters of a plate of cold cuts (from the specials board) and mini pulled pork sliders. The array of meat on the cold cuts was fab - so many different types to try. My personal fave were the sausages. I can never resist a sausage. For mains, I hit up the chicken schnitzel. Dericious. Perfectly crumbed and fried. Only downside (if you'd like to call it that) is that the portions are HUGE! I would recommend sharing mains or skipping starters. I ended up taking home half my main (which was scoffed by a friend at the after bar as she's missed dinner). I also tried bites from my friends and I have to mention the pork knuckle. Salty. Tender. One of the best knuckles I've had in HK. All in all a great find, and one I recommend if you're in the neighbourhood.

Mother's Day Trip to HK. And decided to have lunch here since their dinner reso was booked up…read more Heard great things about this 3 star Michelin restaurant from some fellow foodie friends. Must say, I was rather disappointed. The only 2 dishes that we thought were actually Michelin worthy might be the Aka uni. Cauliflower. Lobster. Royal Cristal caviar. Etc. dish and the mango. Golden pineapple. Curry. Black fermented kumquat. Coconut cream dessert. The other dishes ranged from normal good to unmemorable. Perhaps comparing it to French Laundry is crazy, but it's really hard not to compare when they're both 3 star Michelin restaurants and the price is comparable. The ambiance was on point. However, service was mixed depending on the server and honestly... I've had better service at 1 star/ 2 star Michelin restaurants. In terms of service I'll just mention what I recall (they're nice overall, but...): 1) we found a piece of glass on my sister's place mat. They attributed it to the centre piece which we find utterly laughable, but sure, whatever excuse they want 2) while we were taking photos they came into the frame a few times. French laundry was much better... invisible when not required and visible immediately when needed 3) gave us the bill while we were still eating and asked us to leave early cause they need to close up for break before dinner service. I missed the exact wording as I was in the restroom but absolutely unacceptable. Never in a million years have we ever had any Michelin star restaurant do this to us 4) there were times when the staff didn't clear the dishes and gave us the next dish. There should never be clutter on the table where it takes away from the seamless experience 5) it was a nice touch that they gave us a Mother's Day cake to pack to go but they failed to mention that it needs to be eaten immediately or refrigerated within 2.5 hrs. Yes... they had a note on the cake box in font size 12. But a normal 3 star or even 1 star Michelin would mention it verbally too 6) them telling us that their kitchen is closed so they can only give us a doggy paper bag and not a box to pack our madeleines to go. I've contemplated giving this place a 2 star review, but I also don't think their food is bad... just not sure ALL their food AND service is Michelin worthy. 2 words. Thoroughly disappointed.
