I first went to Ann's Fabrics because I owned a Bernina sewing machine and was having a problem with stitch quality. The staff was very helpful, solved my problem quickly AND did not charge me for the advice or troubleshooting. Shortly after, I decided I was in the market for a new machine that was more advanced, and I had visited a couple of other machine dealers in the Boston area and received terrible service. Both stores seemed completely uninterested in my business. I went back to Ann's, and the staff was incredibly friendly from the minute I walked in the door. The owner and several other staff were very helpful, and they showed me all of the options in several brands that were capable of doing the things I was interested in doing. I was invited to try any machine I wanted to try, and I felt like my questions were answered thoroughly and honestly. Andy, the owner, spent about 4 hours with me as I tried various machines before finally making a decision. Talk about patience! I purchased a great combination sewing/embroidery machine on my second visit, and the staff have continued to be helpful by answering my questions and providing assistance as I've learned about the new machine. I actually returned and bought a second machine a week later (smaller and more portable). They offer free classes to help new owners learn about their machines, and new owners can attend those classes as many times as they like. I cannot say enough about their patience, knowledge and friendliness. I'll add that, while I was in the store on my 4-hour "test drive", numerous customers who had purchased machines or attended classes came into the store. A couple of them brough gifts for the holidays, and I was actually able to speak to a couple of customers about their experiences and their machines. It was really clear that customer service is a top priority. I highly recommend Ann's Fabrics. Andy and the staff are the best in the business! read more
