WARNING!! DO NOT GO TO HER!! Her whole practice is a SCAM and malpractice! I went in for cleaning a few weeks ago for the first time since I had changed insurances and wanted to try out a new dentist. The front desk staff is very nice and helpful and gets you checked-in promptly. I got my teeth cleaned from the hygienist named Tara and she was very sweet and did a good job. Dr. Scott came in after my xrays and told me I needed 10 fillings!! I had my teeth cleaned prior to this 9 months back and was late on my usual cleanings, however, had six fillings done last year also. She even told me I needed fillings in the same teeth that had already been filled!! So crazy! I knew right away something wasn't right...this doctor was looking for a vacation and I was her avenue of payment for the vacay! I got a second opinion from a dentist my friend recommended and he looked at my teeth and said I have NO cavities at all and my teeth were fine! He asked me what Scott said and I told him she said I need 10 fillings and he laughed! I mean if you are going to lie at least make it realistic Dr. Scott!! If she keeps us this way, I will not be surprised her being sued very soon! read more

I've been dealing with periodontal disease for some time now and needed a good general dentist to see between periodontal visits. Dr. Scott was recommended to me so I tried her and have been more than happy. In fact, she has really taken the time to listen to me and understand my problems and give me options for further treatment. She is down to earth and will tell you the truth and not try to upsell you on treatments you really don't need. After going to her for about a year I needed to have an implant done and rather than have my Periodontics Dr. do it, I choose Dr. Scott since she offered the whole package - extraction, intermediate replacement tooth, and implant - at a much better rate. I rarely ever wait more than 5-10 minutes and the staff is always professional. I highly recommend her. read more

I don't want to give this woman a single star. I see now that she has "sanctions against her" from my health provider website which is not a surprise to me. Before moving to VA, I went to a dentist in Pennsylvania for years who always told me that I had a few stains on my teeth but they were nothing to worry about. After moving down here, I saw her for my semi-annual check-up and she told me they were a problem and needed to be capped (there were 3 that she told me). Being naive and trusting her judgment, I had her cap them. When the procedure was done, she told me she saw one more and went ahead and capped it and charged me for it! I was shocked because she never even asked me! But again, I was naive and stupid and just trusted her because she's a doctor. I paid nearly $500 out of pocket when I really couldn't afford to do so since I was starting a job fresh out of college. Looking back, I wish I had said/done something. I have been going to see Dr. Scott for 15+ years. I have always had a wonderful experience. I like that she hires young people new in the industry and provides them experience and guidance. Everyone there is always wonderful and pleasant. I highly recommend Dr. Scott! read more

I'm a military spouse member, who relocated to VA and needed to find a new dentist. I was given Dr. Scott's information from my spouse who was told she was in TriCare/Metlife's network. I went in, gave my information, and was told halfway through my appointment that I was not covered. I wanted to get this straightened out before I continued as I didn't want to pay out of pocket for two fillings. The receptionist seemed clueless as to tricare protocol, and was using my information, instead of my spouses. I was told I needed to come in again on another day, as they didn't have time to continue my appointment. I went in a few days later got the fillings done. It turns out Dr. Scott was NOT in network and I had to pay 20%, as opposed to nothing for most dental visits. After a or two week of horrible jaw pain, I went in again to see Dr. Scott so she could fix the issue. The fillings were filed down, and I was told to come in again in the problem persisted. It did. I came in again the next week, where the fillings were drilled out, and put back in. I still cannot chew where my fillings were put in, and now have jaw pain everyday. I've never had these problems in my life, and am gladly switching dentists to a confirmed network provider. I don't trust Dr. Scott to fix the issue, and will look elsewhere. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. She literally could care less about ANYONE but herself. I came in for an appointment and I laid down on the seat for 45 minutes while she was chatting it up with her staff. She eventually came, looked at my teeth and told me to leave. How she has been able to keep up this scam for this long is beyond me. I did some research on her and low and behold I find out she was sued 20 years ago because she stole from her previous partner. If you have to go 100 miles further to find a dentist, I would advise you to do so. Just let you all know how awful she is, I literally created a yelp account to write this review.... read more

I went to Dr. Scott several times and it was a typical abusive relationship--I just kept telling myself it would get better but it never did. I must say, her dental care is "gentle" but that's out-weighed by her customer service/attitude as well as her administrative and billing practices. I encountered several occassions where she did work that we did not discuss before hand so I wound up with sticker shock almost every time I left her office. Although I have very comprehensive dental insurance, she would perform unauthorized procedures that cost several thousands, and I would still have to pay several hundreds. This happened more often than not but I paid the bills just to keep these off of my credit report. OK, I don't have the worst teeth in the world (after spending thousands in orthodontics and specialists) but if I didn't require the attention of a dentist, I wouldn't have been seeing Dr. Scott. Well, I went in for a tooth ache in one of my molars and after examining me, she says to her assistant--"It doen't matter what we do first because she needs a whole lot of work!" I was taken back by her rude outburst, but I wound up coming back because the misaligned bite kept causing headaches. They gave me the run around and delayed me coming in as much as possible for the headaches. I was where I simply couldn't take it anymore so I walked in! At the end of the appointment, she says "Your portion for today is $1200!" Again, sticker shock!! Well, upon filing the claim with my insurance company, it was DENIED because what she performed was not necessary to cure my issue...she proceeded to send me a bill for the entire $3000 since my insurance didn't pay. I've since went to another dentist but I wound up needing an additional $600 in dental work to correct what Dr. Scott did. You've been warned. I think she's just money hungry. read more

Dr. Scott's office is a scam! In the year's time that I was at her office, I had five cavities filled and a painfully unnecessary deep cleaning. She seemed more interested in trying out her new tools/toys than being concerned for the dental health of her patients. After leaving her office and going to a very recommended dentist in the area, my new doctor responded many times about the abnormal size of my fillings. I too experienced the abusive relationship and continued to go to her because of the "gentle dental care." On several occasions her comments were rude and she also said I needed a plethora of treatment/services (like Kim M). I'm certain I don't have the worst teeth ever since they've been appropriately cared for over the years, but if in fact I need lots of work, that's why I came to a dentist! Don't give an air that you're disgusted--I'm keeping you in business lady! A few years ago she had an assistant by the name of Shandy who was very helpful. Honestly, Shandy's level of professionalism and customer service is what kept me going in the beginning. When I emailed one day (the office's email address was Shandy's personal email) Shandy politely informed me that she no longer works there. I wonder why she left?!?! That was at least 2-3 years ago and the new office staff has a high turnover of nearly incompetent assistants. It's obvious that Dr. Scott hires inexperienced young ladies fresh out of technical school that she can pay minimum wage. They are nothing more than warm bodies that aren't authorized to do anything and have to leave the window to ask Dr. Scott everything. If you call and ask a simple question, they have to check with Dr. Scott and call you back, which will take a few days. This can be quite frustrating! Her billing practices are nothing short of fraudulent. I went in to have a tooth filled and when the filling came out, I went to have it redone. She wasn't supposed to bill my insurance since it was a correction of her original work but of course they did. When I had other work to be done, I kept receiving estimates of coverage from my insurance company because she was submitting pre-auth requests every week, although an appointment hadn't been scheduled. I know she needs to make sure she's paid but that's overkill! In addition, there were several occasions where she did work that wasn't authorized by my insurance nor previously discussed with me and I would have to pay hundreds of dollars at the end of the appointment. Her explanation was "It's the end of the year and you need to use those dental benefits." Well, I also have other responsibilities so let me budget what can be spent before you do the work. This seemed to be her routine every year in December but Christmas needs to be merry at my house too! I shouldn't be forced to give my children a picture of my teeth for Christmas! The straw that broke the camel's back was when she did a crown on one of my teeth without prior discussion. I got to the front and was told my portion was $700. I don't think so. I attempted to make payment arrangements and of course the girls up front had to go discuss this with her. Honestly, what could she do at that point? She should have gotten the payment up front but if she did that, I'm sure she knew I wouldn't have authorized the service. Anyway, AFTER doing the crown, she informs that I needed a root canal on that same tooth for an additional $1200! I'm no dentist, but I'm sure the root canal should have been done before the crown, but this was her strategy to get me stuck. I didn't have the root canal done because I simply couldn't afford it and the tooth wasn't giving me any trouble at all. Well, my insurance company DENIED all of the work because the xrays didn't show anything wrong with my tooth that warranted the crown anyway. She's a participating provider with my insurance and although they denied the service, she proceeded to bill me for the full amount! I dealt with her rude comments and gouging for about 4-5 years so it's not that I didn't give it a try. Thank God I finally woke up and decided to stop paying heftily for abuse, poor customer service and contributing to her opportunities for fraud! *Dr. Scott: Please don't bother notifying Yelp that this review isn't valid. I WILL NOT delete this review and will gladly share my records/bills if necessary. It's not a mere coincidence that all of your patients have the same experience. My checkups with Dr. Scott and her staff are always pleasant. The dental hygienists are excellent and thorough in what they do. I'm informed beforehand of what's going to be done and provided an itemized list afterwards. Dr. Scott is very personable and lets me know options without pressure. Her office almost makes going to the dentist a nice experience. read more
