Anne's calm water charters was amazing and Anne is a real gem. Can't wait to go back again. She has been in the area since 1979 and knows everyone around. Made for an even more adventurous time on the water. Her knowledge was amazing and the scenery was outstanding. Highly recommend using her. Rates were great. Easy to do business with. We booked a charter with Captain Max of AMI Discovery Charters on July 7th for Aug 11th. On August 6th around 5pm CT, we received an email from Anne's Calmwater Charter with a lot of the same information. Being concerned, I reached out to Captain Max to which he explained that his boat needed work done and he transferred our reservation to his mom's company, Anne's Calmwater Charters. We researched the company and after some mixed feelings based on the reviews, we ultimately agreed​. Unfortunately, the morning of our charter Captain Anne canceled due to a family emergency. This was the concern based on the reviews we had read. We were lucky enough to book with another charter for the next day, just disappointed in how this whole transaction was handled. The moral of this review, trust your gut. ​​I gave 2 stars because there was good communication about the cancelation, allowing us time to book with another company. At the time of this review, we are still awaiting the return of our deposit. read more

My partner and I were really excited to do this because of the "great" reviews so we booked a special tour for each other. Too bad 30 minutes before we were supposed to launch, Anne messaged me to cancel. We drove a long time and brought a bunch of food and drinks to bring on board. It really sucked and definitely not worth even trying again since there's hundreds of other boat tours out there that are more professional. read more

We went on a dolphin watch with Captain Anne. Thank you for the best time I have ever had on one of these types of trips. We saw so many dolphins and a manatee. It was so nice to see when she pulled up that the 5 of us in our party was the whole group! How cool to sit next to the Captain while she told us different facts about the area also. This is our 5th time using Ann's Calmwater Charters. She is so great explaining the history of the area as well as information about sea life. We see dolphins and manatees plus explore sandbars seeing various other critters. Shelling is always a success. For us it is the fact that we get a private charter and can bring our own food and drinks that seals the deal! read more

Incredible time! I can't get over how amazing this trip was! We were immersed in natural beauty, interacting with animals so close up! Captain Max showed us manatee, pelicans, starfish, sand dollars, conch, and a seahorse. He even got dolphins to swim in our surf and follow our boat! Captain Max was so great with my kids. It was educational and so much fun for all of us! Lots of local history as we drive from place to place. You won't find a better captain and a better excursion on the island of Anna Maria. If I could give a ZERO I would. Made a reservation for a 2 hour sunsets cruise for 4 people. Reservation made via phone and confirmed. They didn't show up nor call. I called several times, left messages, sent messages on Facebook and text and no response. According to FB reviews this isn't the first time this has happened.
