True Spec Golf - My clubs

    True Spec Golf

I've been chasing this glorious, maddening game for decades--a self-taught 12-handicap with maybe…read morefive lessons to my name, most of them long buried under sunburns and bad beer. I've never been one for the shiny gadgets or swing-tracking sorcery, and I only replace clubs when they start to look like survivors from a past war. So when I walked into True Spec Golf in Beverly Hills, I carried no expectations--just an open mind and a faint hope of hitting it higher and farther without sacrificing my soul to the gods of carbon fiber. Then came Simon Lee--a quiet craftsman of focus and precision. He didn't sell; he studied. He watched my swing like a codebreaker deciphering chaos, pairing heads and shafts with the calm of a surgeon and the curiosity of a mad scientist. Under the cold glow of TrackMan data, he translated spin rates and launch angles into a language I could understand, free of marketing gospel and tech babble. By the end, I was floored. Two of my old clubs? "Keep them," he said--"they're perfect." That kind of honesty is as rare as a hole-in-one in a hurricane. He even tossed in a few simple, lethal swing tips that changed everything. When my new clubs arrived and I had questions, he invited me back, explained, and fine-tuned--never rushed, never transactional, just a man obsessed with getting it right. Yes, True Spec is an investment--but a worthy one. You don't walk out a different golfer; you walk out the truest version of yourself, armed with tools built perfectly for your own brand of madness. The new gear won't cure my crooked swing or tame my tempo demons, but it's given me a fair fight. Six stars, without hesitation. I'd do it all again tomorrow.

Simon is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly knows exactly what he's doing. He took the time to walk me through the entire process step by step, testing different shafts and heads to find the combination that truly worked best for my swing. What stood out the most was how honest and patient he was. At no point did I feel like he was trying to sell me something or rush the process. Instead, he focused on finding what actually worked. Even though he's the expert, he constantly asked for my feedback--how each club felt, what I was seeing in the numbers, and what I preferred. That made the fitting feel very collaborative and personalized. If you're even thinking about getting fit for clubs, I highly recommend seeing Simon. Whether you know exactly what you're looking for or have no idea where to start, he'll guide you through everything and make sure you walk away with the right setup for your game. Huge thanks to Simon for the time, effort, and care he put into the fitting. I truly appreciate it.

Well, say no more…read more Aroma is one of very few golf ranges that also have an affiliated shop inside that offers golf club rentals. This golf shop is very friendly, responsive and accommodating. Need to blow off some steam after work ? The shop may close earlier, but you can reserve the clubs by calling in advance and come pick them up to fantasize smacking your boss's face 150+ yards at your leisure. The clubs are all in great condition, priced well with most clubs under $12 to rent, and they are very helpful on preference of clubs for first timers or intermediate players looking to further accommodate their swing. Great experience, I highly recommend stopping by.

I was getting a bit discouraged; as a left-handed 5 ft. tall female, it has been very difficult finding clubs I feel comfortable and confident with. I doubted that I would ever be able to find a fitting driver. Kevin asked me some questions when I went in, had me try out a few brands and made a few phone calls on my behalf before settling on a customized PXG driver that was not only comfortable and powerful, but also surprisingly cost effective. I was so impressed by the driver's quality and Kevin's amazing service. I will definitely be back for all my golf needs.

I've been walking in and out of these stores for many years, yet nothing has really changed--the staff still don't seem welcoming or interested in helping customers. They often come across as unapproachable and uninterested. When I've asked questions, instead of getting clear answers, it feels like they try to avoid responding and simply walk away. Customer service matters, especially in a specialty store where people come to learn and get advice. I'm actually someone who prefers supporting local businesses and avoiding shopping online from places like Amazon whenever possible, because I understand how it impacts local stores. But experiences like this make it really difficult to justify that choice. I hope this is something that can be improved, because right now, it's hard to feel motivated to shop here.

We went straight to the shoes department which the gentlemen working was quite nice and friendly. Helped us out with what we needed. They had an ok selections on shoes and some decent one on sales. But those were a hit or miss with the sizes. Some items were on promotion/sales which we did check out but was a give or take. Ended up passing on what was tried on. A quick browse to see what else they had in stock for clubs and sorts. There's a good selection, the other employees were friendly asking if we need anything. Layout of store was kind of everything all together. Even though they had things in their department, it still felt like it was all together. I believe this was the same store as the one across the street but now at a new location. Seems a bit smaller. Overall, they did have a good selection on some things while others were a hit or miss.
