Can you imagine I went home in immense pain only to find out she prescribed me one pill for pain management. My family and I were in shock. I immediately called the doctor on call who was also in shock as to why she did that and immediately prescribed me more. Charla Simon also rushes through appointments, doesn't listen to you at all, speaks at the speed of light and when she asks if you have any questions she's already making her way to the exit. This OB is a joke. If you're a woman of color or a first time mom who needs some tlc, this "doctor" Simon is not the one for you.

His staff first weighed me like they were in a hurry and was wrong by 10lbs. I weigh myself every day. When he came into the room, I explained my concern and all he did was feel my lower abdomen asking me about pain which I said yes in some spots. Then he gave me a pap smear and prescribed birth control pills (which only suppressed some of my pain) . The appointment took only 5-10 min and he didn't explain anything to me like what may be the problem or didn't request for any tests. I left the place as clueless as I came. Not to mention he literally told me I SHOULD LOSE WEIGHT AND CALLED ME BIG. I'm not even obese. I am 150lbs and 5'5 and fine with that.

Unfortunately, my experience trying to locate him was extremely frustrating. When I first called to schedule an appointment, I was told he was on vacation. Later, I was told they had no information about him. Then I was told he was on medical leave and they didn't know when he would return. Finally, I was told he wasn't coming back, but no one could explain why. Throughout these conversations, I repeatedly felt pressured to schedule with another physician in the practice. Eventually I agreed because I couldn't find Dr. Gleixner anywhere else. While I can't speak for the other physicians, this practice is not the same as it was when Dr. Gleixner was there. If anyone knows where Dr. Paul Gleixner is currently practicing, or whether he plans to return to practice, I would sincerely appreciate you sharing that information. He was an exceptional physician, and I know many long-time patients would like the opportunity to continue their care with him.

I was fully expecting to wait two or three months to be seen, but by fabulous luck, I got an appointment a week and a half after I called. That definitely started things off on a great note. Dr. Helbing is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. She's totally great about answering questions, even if they're bizarre and/or unrelated to the visit at hand (we talked about grad/med school admissions). And she handles the awkward questions - come on, most of the things that one asks their gyno are pretty flipping awkward - very well. She's probably the best doc I've ever had, and most definitely the best gyno. I mean, really. Nobody enjoys going to the lady-doctor. If you're lucky enough to find one that puts you at ease and makes the whole experience as non-awkward as possible? That's awesome. You might even be inclined to write a Yelp review about them, regardless of how strange it might feel to Yelp your gyno.

I've had a variety of symptoms from perimenopause, and they took them seriously, gave me options to try, and to great success. My GP cannot prescribe any hormones, and they really helped change my quality of life. I feel like that is a huge oversight in GP services as every woman will go through the change - hard to get more "general" than that... But anyway, Most recently they set me up to see a nutritionist, something my GP did not even suggest, even though "lose weight" and "eat mediterranean" was the recommendation for everything. I feel like I'm finally getting taken care of well with this group. Also, when I was looking for a gyno (my previous one closed shop without notice), I asked all my friends if they had one to recommend. They all had one, but not one could say they would recommend. That's a sad state of medicine. I am recommending this group. I even went in for an interview appointment first, to see if I liked them before coming back for care. Please know that's an option!

She is thorough and checks my levels every few months. She called me personally (multiple times to avoid just leaving a message) to explain the change in my thyroid levels and why she wanted me to change my medication dosage. I have seen many doctors in the last 5 years, and I hardly ever get calls from the doctor themselves! Her nurse and office staff are great- they remember my name/medical history when I call in and are as accommodating as they can be. I plan on switching to her as my PCP as well.

I wound up admitted through the ER after having a hypertensive crisis and wasn't even there for anything having to do with endocrinology. However, because I was on thyroid medication, as well as hydrocortisone after having surgery to remove a pituitary tumor, the medical team in charge of my care consulted with Dr. Dhali. She completely changed crucial medication, was condescending, and downright incompetent. She also placed notes in my file saying she suspected I was lying about my medical history. Absolutely outrageous. Once I got out of there I went to see my endocrinologist at Northwestern ASAP who had been managing my care successfully for 4 years and immediately corrected Dr. Dhali's dangerous medication changes. My endocrinologist was absolutely appalled that Dr. Dhali made such drastic changes without knowing or receiving my medical history from Northwestern. This woman is a kook and your health is in danger in her "care." The ONLY reason I ended up at Swedish Covenant ER was because I had a hypertensive crisis and it was the nearest hospital so the ambulance took me there. The goal was to get my blood pressure under control so that I wouldn't have a damn stroke. The cardiologist was great and he did get my blood pressure under control and ran appropriate test. There was no need for Dr. Dhali to bombard in and start messing with my crucial hormone medication (thyroid and hydrocortisone). By the way they don't even carry hydrocortisone. What kind of hospital doesn't carry hydrocortisone? Please, please for your own sake. If you have any endocrine conditions, go elsewhere. I believe Dr. Dhali is a danger to the public!!!!

Finding one that is knowledgeable and has good bedside manners is very hard She's is the only doctor my husband will go to and he never went to the doctor before we got married. She actually response to email so you don't have to make an appoint for every little thing. I had some health issues come up a couple of years ago and she was very helpful in getting me through it. I had went to other specialist and decide to just go see her and she order the test and put me on the path that discover several serious health issues that other doctor didn't think to look for.
