Profound Porridge (€7.50): organic oatmeal made w/almond milk and chai; w/coconut, cashews, dates, and fresh fruit
    Symphony B.

I went here for the first time about a month ago. LOCATION: The location is fairly easy to spot and it's in a less busy area of the city, so it's a pretty nice and chill area lol. 3/5 ATMOSPHERE: It's fairly clean and cute inside, and they've got some outdoor seating as well. 3/5 SELECTION: A lot of their menu is focused on brunch-type items, so breakfast foods, sandwiches, salads, soups, and then a few other snack-type items, like nachos, that they serve in the afternoon. Although I wish there were more, I like that they have at least a couple of clearly-labeled vegan items. 3/5 WHAT I GOT: I got their Profound Porridge. It was just okay-ish. I'm a huge oatmeal fan, and when I saw this oatmeal listed on the menu, with a bunch of toppings, I was excited. But, it ended up being a little underwhelming to be honest. The amount of actual oatmeal in the bowl was actually just like a thin layer, and it was lukewarm. At least it was thick (how I like it) and not soupy though. The toppings were a little underwhelming also because they just didn't taste like they were of that great quality or care. They weren't like spoiled, but the banana was bruised, and they used freeze-dried strawberries, even though the menu says "fresh fruit." 2/5 SERVICE: The employees seemed friendly, including our waitress, but for some reason, our food (besides a drink and a piece of their Vegan Banana Bread) -- three Profound Porridges -- took a very long time. It was probably about 45 minutes, and there weren't even a ton of customers. Plus, oatmeal doesn't take that long to make. At least our waitress was nice enough to give us a free juice because she realized that we had been waiting a long time though. 3/5

A really nice corner restaurant that is great for breakfast and lunch. I was there for brunch right before noon and it was delicious and good value. I ordered the ' EEN GOED BEGIN...' breakfast and it comes with juice, coffee, bread , nice eggs with spinach, bacon and baked tomatoes for 10.50 euros. We have a pretty big group and the waitress seems to have a hard time keeping track of our orders. Both me and another guy have waited for the juice and coffee for a while and had to reminded her for the orders. A lot of people come here also for their nice coffee. If you like their coffee and come here often, don't forget to get the card to collect stamp for free coffee.

Friendly atmosphere, nice neighborhood place for lunch or coffee. There is outdoor dining available with blankets for you lap if it's cool out . I had tomato soup which was served hot and delicious, with some warm foccacia bread. Very tasty. Would recommend

Cutest little cafe that offers to-go drinks! Nice seating, nice staff (speak English and are patient with broken Dutch), and great lattes. Visited this place everyday while visiting Amsterdam. Highly recommend!

The brunch for 2, 22 euros is pricy
    Penny S.

We ordered the brunch 22 euro for 2 persons, but it was lack of variety and thus doesn't meet my expectations for that price. 5-6 pieces of bread, two tiny soups for each person, 5 pieces of cucumber, 4 slides of ham, 3 sauces, about 10 pieces of non-fresh rucola with 3 dried tomatoes, 4 slides of cheese, and two juices, these all we have for 22 euro. I will only pay for 15 euro at most regarding the quality and variety. The staff forgot the juice until when we paid and we asked for it. The rucola is a bit "tired" (not fresh) when it was served. Only the bread is nice. It could be a nice place to enjoy the sun before 11:30 but afterwards the sun is behind the building. I know the restaurants at the area is usually expensive and i am used to it because we live in the neighborhood, but obviously it is still not worth.

Super cozy place. The food is delicious and I just tried their ice chai latte, delicious!

I had a caffe latte (enough octane to last all day for me), the pistachio croissant, and the fruit & granen (granola).

The cafe recently opened near the Hoofddorplein and is already getting very popular with the locals. I totally get why, since Bert makes a delicious coffee and is also a very cool guy who is in for a little chat. The good reputation of their Antwerp location also does not hurt at all. Antwerp location? Well yes, Caffènation is a much loved coffeeshop in Antwerp. We are very lucky that Bert fell in serious love with a Dutch girl because that is what brought him here! And now he owns the Caffènation location here in Ansterdam. Cool stuff right? Coffee lovers will really enjoy the big drinks menu at this place which offers a lot of different choices like cappuccino and espresso but also more adventurous drinks like a 'Ginger Spice' or a 'Bitter Moon'. Last few times I went with a flat white (like usual, they are my favorite!) and that tasted great. The space is quite big and has a lot of cosy spots to sit. You can even come over with a group of friends since in the downstairs area are a lot of seats. Great right?! Not so crowded like most city center spots and a way nicer and more personal vibe. I can imagine this place would do great for working or studying as well. Just go soon because i'm sure this place be discovered by the big crowds soon!

It was quite crowded when I arrived but I was still able to find a seat in the lower level for my laptop and I. The music was a little loud for my taste, but I popped in my headphones which helped. I first ordered an iced cappuccino, which tasted great, but the serving glass was very small, so I ended up ordering another drink, the cappuccino caramel crumble, which came with a lot of sweet cream and chocolate chips on top! Friendly service and free wifi, but I don't think I would come back to study. Note: they do not accept Visa!

Ever been on a trip and you love a place so much that you JUST have to keep coming back to it over…read moreand over again? Well, that was us with Koffie Academie. We were here three times during our stay in Amsterdam, and I think I found my brand new favorite coffee shop in the city, and I was really sad that I had to leave it behind when our vacation was over. The most convenient part is that it was within walking distance of our hotel and right across from the train station. To keep a piece of Koffie Academie with me back at home in the States, I chose to buy a bag of their Rwanda-style coffee beans. On our first visit, I just had their cappuccino alone since it was later in the afternoon and I had already had lunch, but during the second and third visit, I tried their croissants. Amsterdam, hands down, has the BEST coffee ever. I think way better than the coffee in other European countries we've visited during our trip so far. I had to put sugar in my cappuccino during every visit to make it sweeter (sugar cubes and sugar packets are available). This was my parents' second time in Amsterdam and they stuck with their mochas, which they had before. Both the croissants I had were flaky on the outside and buttery on the inside. My mom had their coconut square treat which, I believe, had either strawberries or raspberries inside with a solid chocolate topping. While I didn't get the chance to try it, I thought that it looked delicious! I think I want to try this during my next trip to Amsterdam. Koffie Academie, you have not been forgotten in my memory. Can't wait to see you again upon my return to Amsterdam in the near future!

What a brilliant cortado!…read more I arrived in town before I could check in so I settled here to answer some emails while I wait. What a cozy cafe with brilliant coffee. My cortado was excellent and while I didn't purchase any the baked sweets looked very appetizing. I came back 2 more times during my stay in Amsterdam which is very unlike me because I like to try many cafes when I travel. Fyi - the espresso is quite strong for my taste so if that is something you're sensitive to then adjust your order.

After succeeding to order they delivered quite fast so thats a plus. They have two different menus, a "food" menu and a "snack" menu. We where just out for a quick beer and snack and couldn't find anything on the menu we where handed and saw that other tables got their bitterballen and various snacks, but when we got the hand of the snacks menu then we where good to go. Unfortunately the beer's they carried weren't on neither of the menus and thats a shame. Ordered biertjes and bitterballen and you can't really fail with that can you. Will be back for beer and snacks sitting in the sun.
