I visited this library today for the first time since the total renovation. During the pandemic,…read moreit was open on a limited basis, and you had to make an appointment online. Now it is open to walk ins. It is a very bright, spacious, and modern space. I perused some of the aisles, but it will take me a while to find everything, which is OK (I love time spent just wandering a library). The staff is very helpful, and anxious to assist patrons. Masks are still needed and they have blocked off some seating for social distancing, but otherwise, it is back to business as usual. Hurray!

We love the children's section for the boys as they have a puppet…read morebooth, play areas that change with season, a computer for children to use with games appropriate to learning and age, puzzles, etc. They also have a great variety of magazines for kids and grown ups. You can use them while you are there. And if you are electronically savvy they have many free online magazines you can read from home with your library card. The staff is very helpful in all regards. We have been going here for a couple years now and we always enjoy going. They also host many children's and grown up events.

Old Fox Books is one of those low-key spots you almost don't want to tell people about because it's…read morethat good. Great place to grab a coffee, flip through some books, and just hang out for a bit. It's got a relaxed vibe. If you've got kids, it's an easy win; there's a small reading area inside and a patio with this cool little wooden playhouse that kept mine busy for a while. We ended up staying way longer than planned just chilling. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when I want something easy and laid-back.

My son is housed at Anne Arundle County Detention Center, he was…read more detained there since the first week of August and has already been beating, and working in medical i know he needs a MRI of the brain, and the Orbit which have to do with the eyes, he had already experienced a fight before he got there, these people refused to send him out to the hospital, just drug him up with medications, people make bad choices, but they are still human, and deserves to be safe, and sent out if injured or sick, don't treat them like animals because they made bad choices, what if the roles were reversed. i want my son seen by a professional doctor not a CRNP who just drug him up and later finds out he has life threatening issues from being attacked at this detention center.

This outdoor memorial dedicated to Thurgood Marshall is located at Lawyer's Mall across from the…read morepublic entrance to the Maryland State House. Marshall was a native of Baltimore, earned his law degree from Howard University in DC, and then returned to Baltimore to work with the NAACP there. In 1935, he successfully argued for the admission of Donald Murray to the University of Maryland School of Law. He also argued several landmark cases before the U.S. Supreme Court: Brown v. Board of Education, Shelley v. Kraemer, and many more. He also of course was the first Black Supreme Court Justice, serving from 1967-1991. The location of the memorial is almost where the Maryland Court of Appeals stood in 1935, when Marshall argued the Murray case. The memorial was designed by a Maryland artist (Toby Mendez) and includes an 8-foot statue of Marshall as a young lawyer. Behind him are pillars with the inscription "Equal Justice Under Law," and before him are two benches. On one of the benches sits a statue of Donald Murray, and on the other bench sit the figures of two children representing who Marshall was fighting for when arguing Brown v. Board of Education. There is also a circle in the center of the square that contains text explaining some of the above context about the memorial. This memorial is great and well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Well, he was one of the big leaders in the civil rights era and he was a native of Baltimore. In 1967, he was the first African American to be appointed to the Supreme Court of the United States. The statue here was erected here on the 40th anniversary of the historic Brown vs Board of Education decision. The Supreme Court actually quoted from Marshall's argument before the Maryland Court. The words behind the Justice are "Equal Justice Under Law". As I've said in some of my Historic Marker reviews, it's important to remember where we came from.
