Disappointing Massage and Unprofessional Response to My Complaint My wife and I recently booked a couples massage at Anna's Massage Therapy in Palm Harbor, Florida. I had visited this establishment before, but my usual massage therapist had left, so I was assigned someone new. Unfortunately, this was one of the [worst massage] experiences I have had. I specifically requested medium-to-gentle pressure, yet approximately 45 minutes was spent working on my back with pressure that was very uncomfortable. After a request to turned over, I looked a clock and noticed that there was only 10 minutes remaining for my legs. At that point the therapist sat at the edge of the massage table and rubbed my legs back and forth over the blanket, without the direct skin contact and massage oil I expected and requested. Before leaving the establishment, I voiced my disappointment to the receptionist and explained what had happened. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with the therapist rubbing my legs over the blanket, the receptionist told me that this was their policy. I responded that this had never been my experience during my previous visits to the establishment. Despite my dissatisfaction, I graciously left a tip. I subsequently requested a refund and the therapist's name so I could avoid being scheduled with her again. Following my complaint, I received a voicemail from an unknown caller identifying himself as the owner. He accused me of harassing his employees, stated that refunds were not given once a massage was completed, threatened to respond to any negative review by presenting his version of events and referring to video footage, and told me I was no longer welcome at the business. I was a dissatisfied customer who raised concerns about the quality of a service I had paid for. I believe customers should be able to express legitimate dissatisfaction respectfully and expect their concerns to be handled professionally, without being accused of harassment or intimidated over the possibility of leaving an honest review. I had been a customer here before, which makes this experience particularly disappointing. Worst massage of my life and I get them regularly and have for decades! Very unprofessional making comments about my body "your body look good shape" and "I can tell you take good care of your body." That's not what a female wants to what when she's naked on the massage table!!!! Zero self awareness. Speaking of self awareness he literally would not lighten the pressure when I asked and also would forget and later in in the massage would start aggressively massing an area full force, had to remind him of my hurt areas to make sure he wasn't going to injure me. He also barely used oil and I had to to ask, never ever experienced that where they don't use oil to the point where it was rubbing my skin and causing discomfort so I had to speak up (and still had to remind him) it's like he wasn't paying attention to what he was doing, I think he was distracted by my "very good shape body" or something bc he didn't massage the areas I asked him to several times, he kept forgetting the level of pressure, he never massaged problem areas I asked for several times, I paid extra for a 30 min reflexology for my feet and ankles and I had to ask / remind him several times & still never got a full 30 mins of feet and ankles. He never worked the problem area which was my inner left leg and groin / knee area ... literally had an entire conversation about the sore leg (multiple times) I promise you every knot he found he seemed to like completely avoid it instead of working it, he also didn't know where the groin muscle connected and I had to point out that's why the entire leg hurts bc the muscle connects at the goin and again near the knee so the entire thing hurts .... I was extremely disappointed and they really should refund me for the lack of service. He straight up ever gave me the reflexology I paid extra for. It was very obvious too and I know they can hear me bc they don't have doors and I could hear people in the lobby so they heard me tell the man over and over again to please work my problem areas. He spent more time on areas that weren't even sore. He also probably isn't even licensed bc I truly don't know what that was. But he was distracted and he kept making comments a it num body I think he was distracted by the "very good shape body" made me so uncomfortable but really I'm mainly upset that I didn't get the service I desperately needed and now I need to go back again but can't go back until next weekend bc of my schedule so I'm very aggravated I didn't get what I paid for. And I will be happy to delete the review if they refund me. I was hoping they wound cal and rectify bc like mentioned it was obvious I wasn't happy although I didn't complain and was kind, they had to have heard me. Ag one point I got frustrated and I did tell him you didn't save any time for the leg after I asked you so they knew. They should have called me to rectify. I gave them time before I wrote reviews. I knew this place was different when I walked in and I had to fill out a form regarding my preferences for a full body massage (light, medium or hard pressure), and what areas needed work the most. They took me as a walk in with no waiting. I told my masseuse I wanted very light pressure. He followed through and asked periodically if the pressure was too hard. This was the first massage parlor I've been to that I left feeling relaxed without being sore the next day. read more

I went here awhile ago for a deep tissue massage and I honestly don't think the therapist I had was licensed or trained in massage. Additionally there is zero ambiance. The rooms don't even have doors - just a curtain. My therapist barely spoke English and when I told him that I changed my mind and only wanted 30-minutes, he had to go tell the boss and get permission before telling me that was OK. Love this place! I have gotten a 60 minute full body massage and foot reflexology here. I have never had an issue scheduling an appointment- they have a lot of availability. I am currently pregnant so wasn't sure what to expect. When I went in for the full body massage they had prepped the room with lots of pillows and made sure I was comfortable. They knew where they could put more pressure and where they had to go light due to the baby. They were very attentive and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. It was the same experience for the foot reflexology. Every masseuse I have had has been very nice and has done a good job. I can't wait to go back when I can get a deep tissue massage. I had booked an appointment for a 60-minute Swedish massage, and upon arriving, the receptionist confirmed what type of massage I'd be receiving. However, the masseuse began administering a deep-tissue massage instead, which was much stronger than what I had wanted. When I told her that I had asked for a Swedish massage, she seemed surprised. That alone wasn't a huge deal, but my boyfriend told me afterward that when he had paid for the service (it was my birthday), the receptionist had laughed at him for not tipping more than he already had. This is literally the best massage place I've ever been to. I drive over from Tampa to go to Annas. The therapists are so professional and I rarely have to tell them what area is bothering me. They do a once over the minute I lay down, identify them problems and fix them. Even the 30 min chair massage helps my back and neck so much. I think this is the cleanest and well run massage place. I started to love foot massage when I tried it in California. They are so cheap and if you ever try it...you will be hooked. Don't know how just the massage on foot feels so good. I don't need a full body massage. It's like pressure point massage on feet. It's so relaxing to me. And the price here is the best you will get around. I can do 90 minutes for similar price of 60 minutes with the traditional spa massage. This is not your sketchy place. I injured my left arm 3 months ago. I am a surgeon and the pain has made it very difficult to do my job. At my wife's encouragement I went to Anna's Massage. Linda gave me an amazing 90 minute massage focusing on my injured shoulder and arm. Afterwards my pain was nearly gone. The next day even less pain! Amazing! Don't waste your time with this place. None of the massage therapists are worth even 10 dollars. I asked for a specific service as is for my money and the guy had absolutely no idea what I was asking and did not anything that I asked for (before the massage began). They speak 0 English and the owner is asking for cash payments . I complained once and the owner disrespectfully yelled at me from the front desk guys phone not even understanding or hearing anything I was expressing or listening to me , the owners husband quickly turned into white trash and lost all his class they been showing . The bathroom has giant roaches on the wall and there are cameras according to the receptionist so they can supervise the techs . The last time I went I find bedbugs in my pants . Be aware . There are many many places worth your money and top of it they are incredibly unappreciative and threatened me to call the police because I happened to say I didn't get what i was asking for . Visited Anna's twice in 3 days; once for a 1 hr. Foot massage and once for a 30 min. Back/shoulder massage. They were both so great, used hot stones and everything. My husband and I love Anna's massage! The staff is incredibly kind. We've been a number of times with many of their therapists. We have not had a bad experience yet. They will do deep tissue or relaxation but you definitely have to let them know what you're looking for because the staff can really get some knots out if you ask them to. The doors are curtains and I was in a room next to the restroom with Ella. During the massage all I heard was the toilet flushing and customers going in and out. Very annoying! Then towards the end the manager kept poking her head in the room encouraging Ella to hurry. Ella gives a decent massage but that is too much $ to spend on that type atmosphere. read more

I've been getting deep tissue massages my whole life and all I can say is Anna is by far the best ever. If you need a therapeutic massage or just one for sore muscles, she is the best, but I really need deep, strong massages to work out my soreness from traveling, golf and tennis and I go way out of my way to go to Anna.
