When I arrived in Florida, did a little gardening and pulled my back out. Was hoping a massage would help. Based on the reviews and availability, I chose Connie's. asked for a deep tissue massage to really work the back muscles. I'm sorry, I have no idea who the therapist was but holy, she knew her stuff. She literally massaged every muscle in my body including forehead and toes. But it's so painful. This was not your typical soothing massage. This was a massage with a purpose. Unfortunately my back is still screwed, will visit my chiropractor at home, but the rest of me is raring to go. I had a very professional well-done massage. However, I had a bad experience with the very young girl at the desk while checking out. I tried to leave a cash tip. All I had was $13 and I know that 20% would be 15, but I'd rather leave cash than put the tip on a card (the massage was paid first by a gift certificate). The girl pushed away my money and pulled out the pay machine and kept pointing at the different tip costs. I really wasn't sure at the time what she was wanting, and since she could not communicate at all. I just left in frustration. Since she didn't seem to want my tip I just took it with me. When I got home I received this text: "If you don't like our massage so much, please don't come to us next time! And please don't buy our gift certificates please thank you! And next: Our masseurs' income comes from tips. Minimum tip is 20%. This is your third time coming to us and you don't like it every time and we don't want you to waste your money!" Actually this was my second time coming in with a gift certificate. The last time I left a cash tip. Two things are scary: they somehow have kept tabs on me even though I have only used gift certificates and cash, and second that their income comes from the tips only. The owner (Steve) contacted me to agree with my statement that tips are not required but preferable. That they haven't raised their rates but rely on the generosity of their patrons. It causes me to wonder who gets the bulk of the income and makes me wonder if I should call social services to find out if these women employed here are legal and being paid legally. I said one thing I am not proud of and apologized for. After being attacked in the first message, and explaining that tipping here is not a law, I suggested if they don't want to learn the language they should go back to China. Not my best I know because I am actually pro immigration. But I was quite surprised at being treated that way. This my last reply to Steve who's the owner, not Connie I guess (maybe they are married I don't know: )"I had tip ready, in cash, which I prefer because it is better for the employee but it wasn't enough for her. And since we couldn't communicate I walked away because I had things to do. If you want to help these women succeed, put those at the desk who can communicate and continue English lessons for all. 90 minute massage. Wanted a full body with extra attention to my legs and back. only my legs and back were done. Not my decoupage, front arms, hands, feet, or my face and scalp. When I checked out paying cash the masseuse who didn't speak much English when I tried to speak with her in the room, suddenly became fluent. She laughed and said my tip was too small. and basically told me what she expected. I should have taken what I tipped her and left. A tip is not a guarantee. These massages are not for the faint of heart they hurt but they hurt in a good way and I can tell you I went in unable to stand up and can now! Sharing my experience Just left there and out of all the massages I have had, which is a lot, this was the worst experience! There are several massage types. When one asked for a combo (deep tissue and relaxation), that is one hopes for. However it was the hardest deep tissue I had ever had, and had to repeat myself when asking to ease up. It was nit comfortable at all. It was an experience I will not repeat here. Maybe this will work for others but not for me. They give you a list of massages to check on the form, along with person where you can circle areas that you wold like to work on. Well that is all that they did, my right shoulder and my feet, absolutely thinking else. They apologize they did speak English. It was a very financial mistake for me. I had called for a short notice appointment and they hadn't picked up due to being busy, but I immediately received a text stating they were sorry they missed my call and asked how they could help me and after back and forth with question, squeezed me in for an appointment. I had a great massage at Connie's they fit me in at the last min. I had a two-hour massage. The place is clean and homey. The massage was great, the woman spent so much time on my upper back and neck, they get your whole body. They get your glutes as well, which is great for everyone who sits all day. I felt like they knew what they were doing and I felt amazing for weeks afterward. I have had massages at other franchise massage places and they are good, but after a day I am back to hurting. Connie Zhang is a licensed massage therapist who studied in China. She was very good at explaining what she was doing. She found knots in places that I didn't know could have them and worked through all the key body points. By the time she was done I felt amazing, not just relaxed but with renewed energy. The really great thing is that the day after I can still feel the difference. I will definitely go back. At the moment appointments are easy to get because Connie just opened this location. If I could give no stars I would- I left half way into the message because I asked several times for her to lighten up and move to another area. In the time I was there she only worked on two areas with deep tissues so much so I am bruised. I filled out the form and asked for a relaxing message, I even had to grab her hand one time to get her to stop but then she went right back to the same place. I go up to leave and asked to let me get dressed and she just stood there while I got dressed. When I walked out she said no pay it's ok. Then when my friend leaves they charge her for my message . I asked to speak to the owner or manager since I was not suppose to get charged and she said " she doesn't speak english well so she did not understand - no stop to hard or the paper that said relaxing-" she would not refund the money but offered to do the message then .
