The midwives and nurses are knowledgeable, compassionate, and very very good at what they do. When I was deciding where to have my baby, I chose the birthing center because of the low intervention model (I usually get real anxious when it comes to hospitals and medical procedures), support for a non-medicated birth, and beneficial practices like delayed cord clamping, not washing baby right away, and skin-to-skin. It seemed very homey and calming and I liked that the birthing center was in the hospital (as opposed to a stand alone center), so if an emergency happened, I could get immediate care. The center has four birthing suites: spring, summer, fall, and winter. You can pick which one you want; the layout and color themes are slightly different. However, every room has a shower, a tub you can labor in (though you can't do a water birth), a big bed where both you and your partner are encouraged to snuggle baby after the birth (I think it might be a queen), and various labor stuff (two different kinds of birthing balls, a rope thing hanging from the ceiling, etc.). During birth they have nitrous oxide available for pain relief. You typically get to go home the day of the birth if everything checks out or you have the option of staying in a maternity recovery room upstairs. I had a great experience with all my prenatal appointments and recently had my 6 week follow up. I never feel rushed; I feel heard and respected when I come with my long list of questions (it was my first pregnancy). You get to have appointments with each of the midwives throughout your pregnancy so that whenever you deliver, you'll already be familiar with whichever midwife is on call at the time. So I ended up having my baby on the regular labor and delivery floor because we were high risk and the birthing center can only do low risk births (baby came early at 33 weeks). However, the midwife on call, Maria, still came to attend the birth. Her presence, support, and coaching were invaluable during labor! I wouldn't say I felt calm per se, but I definitely felt less stressed and more confident knowing she was there. I was still able to deliver baby vaginally and without pain medication, which I attribute in large part to Maria's support and the natural birthing class I took through the center. If/when my spouse and I decide to have another baby, I would definitely choose the birthing center again (and hopefully be able to actually give birth there)! Oh and one last thing, one of their staff is a certified lactation consultant, so you can ask Amanda any and all breastfeeding questions you have. She runs The Lactation Circle (TLC) every Thursday morning where you can come with your baby and do a weighted feed (so you know how much your baby is eating), get help with baby's latch, and just hang out with other moms and babies. It's another amazing support and resource the birthing center offers!

Whenever I had questions, especially being a first pregnancy she always had answers and gave me peice of mind. I had horrible back pain and she suggested several stretches and exercises that I could do on my own and some that my husband could help with and they were really helpful in relieving pregnancy pains. My labor started right when she finished with another labor and she was there for me full of energy. She would ask the nurse to bring me items like a peanut ball, a mirror, or dimming the lights to help me get though labor pains and to feel as comfortable as possible. She always had a very calm voice and touch. I would highly recommend using Marisol as your doula. There is so much information and helpful tips she as a doula will provide for pregnancy, labor, post partum and breastfeeding that is not provided by your OBGYN

I was in labor for basically 4 days, 3 of which were unmedicated at home, and the final stretch was in the hospital. We think now in hindsight I had prodromal labor that transitioned into active labor based on the intensity of the contractions. Marisol was there for basically all of it. My doula was there when I needed her. Her morale and encouragement were so comforting. She helped me stay calm both mentally and physically using a variety of methods. Marisol provided me company and physical relief at home, helping me get to a point where I was 5 centimeters dilated and able to be admitted to the hospital. She stayed up late with me when the contractions prevented me from sleeping; she drew warm baths for me to help relieve muscle tension. She also used physical techniques like a rebozo wrap, a guided miles circuit, and gentle massage to help my contractions be both more productive and less physically painful. She helped me find pockets of rest in between contractions, and helped find food and drink that I could snack on to keep up my strength. When we got to the hospital, she decorated my room with fairy lights, affirmation cards, and tucked lavender oil cotton balls around the room to make it more relaxing and comforting. All of the nurses wanted to do their paperwork in my room because the aesthetic was so chill! Marisol also critically afforded my husband breaks so that he could sleep and get food. I'm really glad Marisol was there to liaison with the medical team on my behalf, and able to help me make calm and well-informed decisions despite my exhaustion.

Their network of doulas rearranged their schedules to provide support earlier than originally planned. We ended up extending our contract a number of times, every time the team was supportive, understanding and professional. Big thanks to Kilah, Amanda, Anna and Heather. I could not have survived the first year without your support. I am an alive and well mother of twins because of each of you!

This service is described as "helping moms feel supported, nurtured, and empowered", I left feeling belittled, distraught and contemplating legal action. Very eager to support a small black own business I hired this company to clean my three floor townhome, even though their services didn't taylor to exactly my need. I advised I did not have a newborn baby, however I did have a dog. Through several communications over the course of weeks myself and this company was in agreement to clean my townhome to which a small dog resides. The owner assured me that it was not a problem and they were more than willing to clean my home. The day of service, two people arrived to my home, stayed for only 30 minutes while only washing the dishes. The employees then abruptly left, to which I was refunded and sent an email. However this is not where the problem lies. The problem lies in the aftermath of the interaction. Locally in the area, the owner and I share a couple of mutual associates. The owner proceeded to slandered my name and my living conditions to our mutual associates, where intimate details of my private life was shared in a public setting. I hired this company in full professional and privacy confidence. To hear from a third party that my house was filthy and unable to be cleaned is defamation of my character. This is a cleaning service that is supposed to provide cleanings. If there is a young dog living in the home there are some expectations of uncleanliness to which the sole reason why this company was hired-too clean. I will be reporting this company to the BBB. This service is tailored to woman in postpartum recovery. Postpartum suicides make up 20% of the growing suicide rate in the US today. I cannot imagine someone going through postpartum and interacting with this very unprofessional group of woman. This company's morals lack integrity and trust. I would suggest this company does some research on postpartum depression and the needs of this very delicate sub-set of women before marketing their specialties as postpartum doulas. Ladies do your research.
