Anna is super sweet and nice and made my hair look great! I have super straight long hair with no volume at the root due to how heavy my long hair is. I came across Anna's salon and saw she offered root perms to give a fuller look at the crown. Originally I thought about a root perm with a digital perm but Anna was honest with me letting me know since my hair was bleached it's not strong enough for the digital perm and it'd be best to strengthen my hair first. Since my roots weren't bleached she agreed to do the root perm. She's really honest and won't comprise the health of your hair. She cut and thinned just a little of my hair and did a natural root perm. I attached photos before, during and after my root perm. Anna has moved to 1550 Rycroft Street, across from Pagoda (Sorabol) and to the right of the Rycroft Terrace apartment if you're facing it on Rycroft (towards Kaheka). She's renting chairs from Salon 101 and she has a lovely view of the koi pond outside. There is metered parking, free after 6pm. It's $1.50/hour and a 2 hour limit before 6. She told me she knows the parking isn't ideal for customers who need things like coloring or perming so she is trying to find somewhere else with better parking. I've been going to Anna for a few years now, initially for digital perms and now just for a fancy lob style haircut. She maintains a very calm atmosphere and always cuts my hair to be super flattering (she knows all about my secret bald spot and will do some cutting tricks to try to hide it, or add volume around my crown since I have very fine hair that gets easily weighed down). This review is long overdue. Over the past 20 years, I've always tagged along with my mother to get my hair done at Anna Salon and have always received excellent service. Anna is a very experienced hair stylist and can pretty much style your hair the way you want. Lately, I've been trying to grow my hair so I've only been going in to get a haircut. But in the past, I've dyed my hair and received a digital perm that lasts for quite some time. After my digital perm, I remember everyone asking me if it took hours to style my hair every day. It really only took a few minutes to apply hair gel to the curls and I would be ready to go out. I received so many compliments on my perm. Anna is very quick if you just need your hair cut but does a really good job in getting your hair styled right. It doesn't bother me as much that there is no TV since you read magazines while you get your hair styled and cut. And sometimes I just prefer to sit there without even reading. Of course, if you're getting your hair colored or permed, it can take some time to get the color done right. Anna uses quality products to help prevent your hair from getting damaged too much. My mother always gets her hair permed and cut from Anna. She tells me that not all hairstylists are good and it really takes talent and experience to do a good job. Anna is definitely one of those talented and experienced hairstylist in town. There is free parking and she's open 6 days a week (Mon - Sat). You can find the salon near Keeaumoku Supermarket. The owner was AMAZING!!! She took me in for a last minute haircut. She was supposed to close at 6pm but she said I could come in at 6:30pm for a simple short bob haircut. My haircut is perfect and her price is very reasonable too. All of the other 10 places that I called starts around $55-$70 for a haircut...a simple haircut. She set up an appointment for a few days later, nice. K, I was literally plugged-in, hot electricity transmitting through my digital curlers on my head. Anna is very good at this technique, my curls are soft and buoyant, nice. It's fun but is some work compared to my straight hair (you have to twirl your hair on your fingers to set a curl into place), but I'm having fun with my new look & layered cut. Want a new look? Anna is fantastic. I found her like I've found all my hairstylists: by going up to strangers w/ great short cuts and asking where they get their hair cut. Now people come up to me and ask me that question. After years of long, wavy hair, I about-faced and went for zero maintenance. I told Anna I wanted pool hair. I wanted to get out of the pool, shower, towel dry, and if I forgot my brush, be able to run my fingers thru my hair and be out of there. No dryers, curlers or any kind of hair product. People at the pool are very impressed :) I even get compliments from other customers in the salon. Bonus: Anna gives great Korean food tips. I was looking for a stylist with more experience with Asian clients. She came up as the highest ranked option, and a lot of the reviews came from other Koreans. I'm definitely happy I went there. She did a great job. I gave her one specific thing I want. Usually, I have to tell other stylists to keep going to do it right. She just did it right the first time. She was also very efficient. I love Anna!! I've been getting my hair done by Anna for the last 3 years and always left her salon happy and satisfied. She's very experienced and excellent at what she does. I love her hair cuts, but I especially love her perms! I've asked her for various tightness of curls and she always delivered just to my liking. I've been asked by quite a few people where I get my perms, and have referred a few people to her too. Seriously, having gotten a bad perm from an 'experienced' hairstylist before, I know what I mean when I say she's EXCELLENT! The only downside is that her clientele is, for the most part, Koreans. A friend recommended Anna Salon and I wasn't disappointed. First of all, she did a very thorough job with the cut. She not only shaped my hair nicely, but also had great suggestions for how to style my hair. I also got a perm and at first I wasn't too happy with how it looked. The curls were much tighter than I wanted but she did say that it will loosen up and look better after it's washed. It's been so long since I've had a perm that I forgot that it takes some time for it to look its best. Anyway, I'm sure that it will look better in a day or two. The only reason that I gave Anna Salon 4 stars is that it is on the expensive side. If price isn't an issue, she's a great alternative to getting your hair done in Korea. read more

I was going for a pretty drastic change but Anna took into consideration the pictures I brought in along with her personal recommendations. I was very happy with my resulting digital perm and short cut. Anna uses only the best hair products and carefully takes care of you, as if she were doing her own hair. Definitely a place for digital perm! I desperately wanted to have a new look and Anna was very helpful. I had long hair for a few years and always had digital perm done during my trip to my born country-Taiwan because I was very skeptical about the salon in the states would do the good job to Asian hair. This time, I actively looked for a Salon in the neighborhood. There were not many Salons that provide digital perm services. I called Terra by Afloat and a few other Japanese Salons but all are busy and I could not get them to do on my available day. Even 2 Salons were probably too busy to answer the phone and the auto-greeting asked me to leave a voice mail. My 1st preference was Terra by Afloat but the receptionist told me the earliest available date on my request would be 2 weeks later...too long and I didn't feel like to wait that long. I already spent much time searching on yelp/internet for a Salon I was interested in. Then, I found Anna Salon on Yelp, the reviews on Yelp looked great though it's not a Japanese Salon but a Korean Salon, I decided to give it a try. I called on Tuesday and luckily Anna was fine to do my hair the next morning. I loved the new look so much that I took so many selfies. XD. Digital Perm & Anna: digital perm USD200 (including shampoo, cut, digital perm/ 17.Sep.2014). Anna has had many years experiences in digital perm. After I showed her a few pictures of my interest, we went over the desired length, my head shape, hair condition, and confirmed which look I was going with. Immediately when she cut my long hair to short style, I knew she was skilled with confidence. I was prepared that digital perm always takes time. I was in the salon for 3 hours in total. Anna told me I did not have to worry about to hold washing hair for 2 days because a good digital perm should not go away that fast. During my perm, Anna received several calls from her clients for scheduling. There was a client prior to my arrival and one came in just before I left. Anna told me she used to go back to Korea for hair conventions/seminars 1-2 times a year to learn new techniques. Now she could opt to learn it on line through membership and attends the hair conventions at a relatively nearer city-Las Vegas, less flight time. Service: the result of digital perm is absolutely satisfying! Since Anna is an independent hair dresser running her own salon, she has no assistant or helper, all done by herself. The shampooing was just ok, probably because I shampooed my hair the day before, she gently washed my hair with little time.There was no soothing head massage like some Japanese Salons did to the clients. There was no offer of drinking water until I asked and she told me please help myself and pointed where the table of water tank/cup/cookies is, well, that would be nice if she told the new client first. There was no TV but some magazines. I played on my own mobile phone and chatted with Anna most of time. Besides digital perm, Anna told me she also did "ION perm" , which I previously already knew ion perm would be a good way to perm hair with less harm. After my hair was done, she showed me how to style it just with my hand and a curl defining cream. Environment: It's actually spacious. There are 6-7 available seats. There are some nice fake plants decor and a real small cute fish tank. It's surely clean but not modern. Parking/location: Convenient! For someone like me, I would say woo-hoo! I am just very scared if I had to find a parking on street. I want to share from my experience in finding it: Anna's entry is not facing the busy main road Keeaumoku, it's behind the building, you will find Anna Salon sign and the entry in the parking garage. On Keeaumoku street, between Cantonese & FatBoy restaurant, I made a turn into Liona street and immediately on right hand side, there's the parking garage. Anna salon is at 2nd floor (probably the 2nd building from Liona stree if I was not mistaken), there is a stair case to go up, right in front of the salon is plenty parking stalls. Overall, the experience is pleasant my friends love my new look, and it is easy to maintain the style. Even though for the same price, another salon might be more modern look & maybe have extra service, I would go back again, for the money worthy digital perm and the hair stylist I like. PS. Though I know most Salons don't take American Express, I called Anna and she said all cards are fine. Good that I still prepare cash just in case because she cannot take American Express!!! I found this Salon on Yelp. All of the reviews were from women and so I was a bit hesitant to go since I didn't know how well the salon will do with male haircuts. I knew I wanted to recreate a hairstyle I previously had done in Korea, so I called and made an appointment. Luckily, I was able to go in at the same day I had called for a reservation. Location: It's on Keaaumoku, right across from McDonald's. The salon is on the second floor and the entrance is in the back. Service: Being non-Korean, at first it was awkward because it seems like all the costumers and the owner were Korean, but after awhile it was fine. She asked if I had a Korean style I wanted to do and I just simply showed Anna a picture of the style I wanted and she immediately knew what to do. In comparison to the Korean stylist in Korea, Anna's techniques were very to up to par. She did an amazing job recreating the hairstyle I wanted. She was also fun to talk to! Her english can be unclear at times, but she really wants to get to know her customers. Towards the end, she plays around with your hair so she can make adjustments. With that, I feel like she customizes the style to your hair. After Shampooing and drying, she actually teaches you the different ways to style your hair. She was very knowledgable of the current trends. At the end, I LOVED my haircut. Price: I was actually pretty surprised how cheap it was. Most male haircuts were $30+ and we have to pay tip. My haircut only came up to $26, with tax and she didnt make me pay tip. She also even gave me a free gel to help me style my hair. Overall, I would definitely go back again and I recommend anyone to do the same! I had a VERY good experience. If you are a male and you had a Korean haircut in mind, definitely check this place out! YAY! I'm the first one to review this place! I have to give this place 5 stars because I've been going here to get my haircut since I was 8 or 9 years old. Anna is amazing! She cuts my hair perfectly everytime! They are a full service salon, and I have gone to her for haircuts, hair color, highlights, and prom hair styles. The location of her salon is kinda obscure. Its upstairs, above a noodle shop and Glitter Nail Salon. Though inside, her salon is really nice and always clean. Though if you do go to her for a haircut, bare with her on her English. The first time I ever got a digital perm was years ago in LA. It was honestly the best thing I've ever done to my hair. Getting ready was SO easy. Since then, I've tried three times at three different salons to replicate my first digital perm and was unsuccessful. I gave up and decided I'd go back to the salon in LA the next time I visit. Last Friday, I happened upon the reviews for Anna Salon and I remembered going to see her years and years ago. I called in and set an appointment for later that afternoon. I am so glad I did--SOOO happy with the result. Honestly, it is better than the first digital perm I got in LA. My hair was a bit challenging and Anna was very honest about it from the start. I decided to get a balayage about a year or so ago so she was concerned that the processed hair would be frizzy and the virgin hair wouldn't curl. She explained that she would use different formulations of product for each section. For the processed, damaged hair on the bottom half, she would use a weaker solution and for the virgin hair, top half, she would use a stronger solution. She also explained that the highlighted sections would become lighter (I told her I wanted to leave the length for now but I may end up cutting it off if I decide the color is too skunky-looking). She started off by cutting my hair to compliment the perm. She ended up adding a shorter top layer to give the top of my hair more volume. Even just the cut alone made a huge difference!! The most time consuming part is the rolling. The whole process took a little longer than she first anticipated because she wanted to minimize the damage (apparently weaker strength solutions left in longer, result in less damage to the hair). Everything took about 3 hours--still faster than some of my previous digital perms--and it's completely worth it. Getting ready is such a breeze now. You can literally put your hair up in a bun, and when you take it down, you have loose tousled curls. If you air dry your hair loose, you get beachy-looking waves. After you digital perm your hair, don't be alarmed--it will be SUPER DUPER CURLY. I was freaking out after my first time. Luckily, I went with a friend who permed her hair often, and she explained that it will be super duper curly and dry feeling for a few weeks but eventually settle and loosen. After a few weeks, your hair sort of re-stabilizes itself. Until then, you do need to invest in a good serum or oil to moisturize your dry ends. A few months later, you won't even need the serum...heck, you won't need to do anything to your hair at all! read more

This was my first time coming here to Anna Salon. I was a bit hesitant going to somewhere new, but I was fortunate to meet TAMMY. She calmed me down and reassured me that she used to work for Paul Brown for many years and that she was a master stylist. As you girl's know it's hard to get your hair done by anyone. But, I had this weird feeling that I could trust her and she reassured me that if I didn't like it don't pay for it. TAMMY was very helpful with helping me choose my style. She assured me that with my face type that long layers with bangs would look great on me. As I waited as she styled my hair, I could slowly see the transformation that would be my new style. After she was finished, I was in amazement. I was so impressed with her work, I actually asked to get my hair colored too. She said that this was my first time she told me that she would give my hair cut FOR FREE!!!! and that I would only have to pay my $60 hair color fee. I don't know about you girl's, but this girl like a deal. I told her I trusted her and told her to make me look beautiful. She recommend that I should go with a dark violet color and that I would love it. After waiting about an hour and letting her style my hair, I couldn't believe that was me in the mirror, she made me look HOT! So after my two hour experience with Tammy. I paid only $60 for a haircut, color, and style!!!! Amazing! I was so happy I tipped her $40. TAMMY was AMAZING! I told her I'd be back and best part was that she told me tell my friends and that she would give them the same deal. I've been getting my haircut from Anna for 7 years. She always cuts my hair perfect! Even when it grows out really long my hair falls in place and looks great! My co worker introduced me to Anna I'm so grateful to her, it's so hard to find a hair stylist that cuts consistently every time! She's like a great chef who cooks the food the same every time! Anna knows best. After cheating on her a few times, mostly because I was not in town. I realized that it just doesn't get better than Anna. I've never had a bad styling from her and now my daughter and all her friends love her too. No, her place is not high tech and mod, but it's peaceful, you hardly ever have to wait, there is no smell of lingering chemicals, there is always parking and you could have a great lunch or dinner after or before.
