This review is for a cleaning I had in December. First of all, I have been with this dental office for the last 5 years. Love the office staff, Dr. Anna Choe is great, and on this visit, I met with Dr. Judy Chang for a quick check up. She is equally knowledgeable, no nonsense kind of doctor, and very approachable. Back to the cleaning. Robert was my dental hygienist. I am used to routine cleanings, but may I say this one was the most comprehensive and thorough cleaning I have ever had. At first I thought it too aggressive, but let me tell you, it was worth it. Wow. My teeth were incredibly clean! I had coffee and red wine stains, and Robert managed to remove most of the stains. He is very passionate about his profession and takes pride in his work and is very skillful. Thank you, Robert! read more

I went to see Dr. Choe based on a referral from one of my good friends. The staff there are great and really work to make you comfortable. I've had extensive dental work over the years from great dentists and not so good dentists. Dr. Choe is knowledgeable, warm, and highly skilled. Dental work, particularly drilling, is often painful for me as some dentists don't always wait for the numbing to fully kick in before they start the work. Not only did Dr. Choe wait patiently but she even suggested we do one tooth at a time. This really worked out well for me because my old dentist would have done it all in one day. Yes it means 2 visits but my comfort level was high; it was a breath of fresh air. Thank you Dr. Choe! Think I have found "the" dentist for me. read more

First time there and just want to give some constructive feedback and describe my experience. Feedback - Please consider changing your policy on no teeth cleaning the day of visit - Have your medical personnel (Dentist/dental hygienist) disclose the diagnosis and proposed treatment plan to the patient, not your office staff. Or if it is your policy for your office staff/biller to reveal your diagnosis (fillings required, type of teeth cleaning), say that your office staff is going to be in charge of your treatment plan, costs, healthcare decisions because ultimately, that is what occurred. - It is common at other offices to have a price point drawn up for the proposed treatment plan more than a day in advance of your visit (ie a week or two in advance at least) - Your pricing is higher than your local counter-parts even when paying out of pocket, consider re-adjusting your prices (Invisalign was more expensive, night guard, etc) For my experience: Had appointment, arrived early. Had documents sent to office. Signed forms with office manager. Back into the chair 20 minutes after scheduled appointment. Sat in chair for additional 20 minutes. Talked to office manager about costs of treatments that may be possible. Pictures taken 35-40 minutes after scheduled appointment. Dentist in over one hour after appointment scheduled. I advised her of my goals for the day (hopeful for cleaning, night guard). I was advised they could ask the office manager. Dentist left. At that time, I was informed by the office manager that I cannot have a cleaning and that I had additional diagnoses I was unaware of (need for a filling, a special cleaning). Lastly, I went to another dentist for a second opinion. Not only were they on time, they informed me I do not have a cavity and their pricing for Invisalign and night guard was significantly less . They did a teeth cleaning the same day. read more

Fantastic dentist office! I recently came for an initial establishing office visit, and I was extremely impressed. The office is comfortable, clean, sterile. The staff are professional and friendly and did a great job understanding and filing my insurance in advance. When I arrived, I knew how much I would owe and it was a good feeling. Dr. Choe is professional, and I felt at ease during the exam and all that she explained afterwards. Also, the cleaning I had was thorough and just such a nice experience overall for the visit. After going to other dentists and being overcharged, up sold on procedures I know I didn't need, and overall not feeling like they had my best interest at heart - I am SO SO happy I found Dr. Choe. Found a great coupon for first visit ($69) which includes cleaning, x-rays, and exam. I was wary and thought that they would try to get more money out of me somehow but they didn't. They did a great job and honored the coupon. Very nice new office with state-of-the-art equipment. And the woman who cleaned my teeth was named Merlin! How awesome is that?! I came back and did teeth whitening and would not recommended this. It hurt like hell and my teeth aren't really that much whiter. If you refer 3 people to her you get an awesome ($100+) electric toothbrush and your friends get the new patient deal too. One more to go before my brand new toothbrush!!! read more

If you want to get new patients, you need receptionist who speak more loudly. I asked her twice to speak up in which she did not. Maybe it is her age, but best medical reception is done by speaking clearly and communicating with confidence. I will stick with service with trained professional staff. read more

I found Dr. Choe about a year ago and it is such a relief to find a dentist that I can trust. Immediately after I walked in to Dr. Choe's office on my first appointment I was greeted with a gift and a smile. I waited about 5 minutes before I was called back for X-rays and pictures of my teeth. The cleaning came next and I was expecting a hygienist but it was Dr. Choe that cleaned them, did the exam, and showed me the pictures. My fiancée was getting the run around with another dentist and even though Dr. Choe didn't take her insurance she offered to do a free consultation. She and her staff are incredibly friendly and what I can appreciate is that they walk me through the entire process from start to finish. Not only do they guide me through what is going to happen during an x-ray or a dental procedure, they also review insurance and financial options to consider. There are many dentists that may over charge, bill for services not rendered; and they do so because we don't know any better and are unaware of options. Most dentists are under the fee for service healthcare model where they are paid according to the number of procedures performed. The Affordable Care Act has attempted to remove these perverse incentives for the providers, however, there are too few regulations concerning dentist practices. That being said, I've only had positive experiences with Dr. Choe and really see that she has a vested interest in improving the dental health of her patients. She will not try to sell you expensive treatments or procedures. read more

I had my first visit to Dr Anna Choe's office this morning. From the moment I opened the door to her office I was treated very well starting off with the the front desk staff. Next a dental hygenist, Kim, greeted me and asked me to follow her to a room with a beautiful window looking outside. Kim explained every procedure she would be doing with me. She answered all my questions and was very gentle in my mouth with examining and cleaning. I have never felt this comfortable in an initial visit to a dental office. I met Dr Choe shortly after my cleaning. She was warm,knowledgeable and made me feel assured and comfortable in her examination and plan of action for my dental health. I actually look forward to my next visit to this office and want to give them 5 stars plus for their exceptional treatment of a first time patient. read more

I had just moved to Pasadena from the Midwest and I had an infected tooth that was EXTREMELY painful. I was referred to Dr. Choe by a coworker and even though I was not an established patient she got me in in 2 days. After evaluating me she set me up with a prostodontist (Dr. Eugene Kim) who comes to their office once a month since his clinic is about 75 min. away which makes it much easier for the patient. They made a plan together and I was able to see him the very next day. Both Dr. Choe and Dr. Kim were professional and told me exactly what needed to be done and why and how. I also made another appt. a few months later as I had lost a crown. I called Dr. Choe on a Sunday and she called me right back and asked what happened and was I in any pain. I told her my crown fell out but I was not in any pain. She told me to call the office the next day and make an appt. I called the next day and I work full time so they made an appt for me that week that worked around my schedule. I was ran 30 min. late because of horrendous traffic. My appt. was at 1630 on a Friday and I did not arrive until 1700. I did call the office and let them know and Dr. Choe was EXTREMELY kind and wonderful and waited for me even though I was a half hour late and it was Friday evening. Her office staff is also very nice and accommodating. I hope to keep her as my dentist for as long as I am in Pasadena. She also speaks perfect English so there was no language barrier. I highly recommend her to anyone. She is so kind, gentle and caring. The office is very nice and has all updated dental equipment. read more

Dr. Choe is honest and never tried to sell me stuff or tell me I need procedures. She has a great personality and has wonderful staff. Dental hygienists are gentle and do a good job (especially Cindy). They are always timely. I never waited more than 10 minutes from my appointment time. 95% of the time they call me in right on time. I found this office thru yelp and I'm glad I did. The staff is friendly, the initial paperwork is minimal. Their office is very clean. I was in need of periodontal treatment which required two sessions (one for each side) .. I was scheduled at 2pm and walked right in.. No wait time! That's awesome since I was really nervous about the procedure. I wasn't sure how painful it would be, Dr. Choe was very friendly and helped me understand the procedure and answered my questions with no hesitation which helped calm me down. I'm very pleased that I had no pain at all ( except for the initial anesthesia but even that was very minimal) I had absolutely no discomfort what's so ever after the procedure. Dr. Choe also gave me a follow up call personally which I thought that was a plus. I def recommend this office. The only thing that prevented me from giving it another start was the appts... Wow. I went for an initial visit after finding Dr. Choe on Yelp. It's great to find a 5-Star doctor and receiving a 5 star experience. A little bittersweet - I left my dentist for over 20 years because the commute to the Westside had become too painful. Right from my arrival, the office team was warm and welcoming. The receptionist had a "new patient" gift and gathered all my information -- the office is paperless and has a nicely contemporary feel. But the real test is the dentist, and Dr. Choe was wonderful. She was intelligent and kind, gathering my information and sharing lots of helpful information. The exam and cleaning was careful and painless: she is truly a gentile dentist. And with her up-to-date equipment, she was able to show me the x-rays and discuss my individual needs.
