Dr. Bhalla is great! I've had back issues and intermittent pain throughout my adult years…read more Whenever it got intolerable I resorted to acupuncture and/or chiropractic care and on a few occasions epidurals. Someone cutting on my back was not anything I was receptive to. When sciatic episodes became more frequent and longer lasting and I was forced to postpone scheduled knee replacement surgery I reluctantly decided to again consult an orthopedic surgeon. After initial consultation, x-rays and MRI I had follow up appointment with Dr. Bhalla to discuss options. He recommended surgery. Still reluctant to go that route I opted for another try with an epidural, but to to no avail. Back to Dr. Bhalla who told me the problems were going to continue to get worse so at age 73 I finally agreed to surgery. Lower lumber fusion surgery was performed at Long Beach Memorial Hospital by Dr. Bhalla and Dr. Rao (vascular surgeon). Anterior Lumber Interbody Fusion (ALIF) and laminectomy surgeries were performed on Monday and Thursday of the same week. The week in the hospital (overall very good care and treatment) and first 2 weeks at home I experienced moderate pain and discomfort but nothing intolerable. After 2 weeks of light rehab at home I started physical therapy program. After several weeks of PT my back felt really good. It has been nearly one year since the surgery and other than minimal discomfort during the initial recovery period I have experienced no back pain! From the initial consultation through the post-op visits Dr. Bhalla thoroughly explained all the options, the details of the surgical procedure, the recovery and rehabilitation process and patiently answered all my questions. Dr. Bhalla is a compassionate and highly skilled physician and surgeon! And, kudos to his very competent and kind office staff. While back surgery is a last resort, if there is no other viable way to address your pain and problems Dr. Bhalla is the surgeon for you.

I've seen Dr. Salah for a workout injury, and my teenage son has seen him as a student-athlete…read more Some time ago, I injured my shoulder during a workout. It was the worst pain I'd ever felt. Every day activities, including sleeping, were a bit traumatic. I saw three doctors before I saw Dr. Salah, and not one of them was able to diagnose or treat my pain adequately. I later realized that none of them spent the time to understand the issue. Dr. Salah took the time (which is not encouraged nowadays) to analyze my actual issue and provide a course of action that included medication and physical therapy. He absolutely changed my quality of life, and I'm incredibly fortunate to have come in contact with him. Fast-forward: My teenage son is now a basketball/track athlete. Growing bodies and the like are rife for injuries in high school sports. The first person I thought of when my son was injured was Dr. Salah, and this was the absolute best decision. He took the time to get to the bottom of our concerns and created an action plan for recovery. I now have zero worries about my son's ability to stay healthy because he has an advocate in Dr. Salah.

After years of poor experiences with other doctors, Dr. Salah truly changed my perception of patient care. He took the time to thoroughly examine my hand and explain the mechanical issues in a way I could understand. What stood out was his combination of expertise and genuine empathy. He was straightforward about the diagnosis, clear about treatment options, and took time to answer all my questions about potential outcomes. He understood my concerns about surgery and helped me weigh the pros and cons without pushing me in any particular direction. Thank you, Dr. Salah.

For more than seven years, I lived with persistent lower back pain caused by deterioration in my L4…read moreand L5 discs. As an active 37‑year‑old mom of two, even the simplest daily tasks became painful, and during flare‑ups the pain was unbearable. I was often told that surgery wasn't an option for someone my age. I repeatedly heard that bulging or deteriorating discs were "common" and should simply be managed with medication or injections. But after learning about a friend's wife who had a successful procedure at Advanced Spine Care, I realized I didn't have to keep living this way. I reached out to Dr. Verma, and after several consultations, I finally felt confident moving forward. The entire experience exceeded my expectations. The surgery center, nursing staff, and fellow surgeons made me feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for. I was up and walking the same night as my surgery, and each day brought noticeable improvement. My incision was small and healed beautifully thanks to Dr. Rao. Before long, I was back at the gym, walking on the treadmill, using the stair master, and taking Pilates classes. Now, four months post‑surgery, I continue to increase my activity level and feel stronger every day. Had I known how life‑changing this procedure would be, I would have done it years ago. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Verma and his incredible team for giving me back pain‑free days and the ability to fully enjoy my life again.

After recently having had another incident of dealing with an inattentive physician & poor service from his staff, I would no longer recommend Dr. Phillip Yuan. In my experience, it starts with a seemingly endless maze of automation to speak with someone at that office, then once one does, one is promptly transferred to another person who more often than not just doesn't pick up. I've left voicemails that went unreturned for days, & often not at all. I've found Dr. Yuan's inattentiveness & failure to respond in a timely manner increasingly disappointing. I would recommend investigating alternate options to using this practice.

Unfortunately, my experience with this office has been extremely frustrating, primarily because of…read morethe lack of communication and follow-through. After numerous attempts to get information about my case, I asked to speak with an office manager and was told that someone would return my call. That call never came. I called back two additional times and left messages for the office manager, and I still received no response. Communication with Dr. Warden's nurse was similarly difficult. On at least four separate occasions, I was told I would receive a return call, but those calls never happened. The lack of communication has now reached the point where I am seeking another provider to perform the knee surgery I need. Nearly six weeks after initially contacting this office, I still do not have a clear surgery schedule or a satisfactory understanding of where things stand. Unfortunately, the customer service experience begins the moment you call the office. The initial person answering the phone consistently came across as disengaged and uninterested in helping. When someone is dealing with a significant knee injury and trying to coordinate necessary surgery, basic communication and follow-through are extremely important. I understand that medical offices can be busy and that scheduling surgery involves multiple steps. However, repeatedly promising return calls and then failing to make them is unacceptable. After nearly six weeks of trying to obtain answers, I have lost confidence in this office's ability to manage my care effectively and have decided to pursue treatment elsewhere. I hope this feedback is taken seriously because the medical care itself is only one part of a patient's experience. Communication, responsiveness, and basic customer service matter--especially when someone is injured, in pain, and waiting for surgery. I kept it focused on specific experiences rather than making accusations that could distract from the core complaint.
