this is long delayed and overdue but never too late to give my praise and appreciation.this happened like 4 years ago. i was crossing the street near a pedestrian crossing. i was hit by a car by a teen, driving one winter night in highland park and i end up hospitalized for few days in the hospital. i sued to pay for hospital bills that incurred, almost 40k i believe with the help of this law office but unfortunately lost just because i am few yards away from the pedestrian crossing. the young lawyer who represented me did his due diligence, i got timely responses/action pertaining to my case that is truly above and beyond... after we lost, he comforted me helped me settle the hospital bill- i end up paying nothing. thank you! read more

Update: Last communication with my attorney, Brien, was on 17 August 2026. The day that I left my initial review, in that after his assistant, Ashey, stated she was assaulted by me over the phone. She stated that she was assault, in that due to my stating that I was going to post a negative review. That all Ankin and their in-house medical staff at Parkview Orthopedics are worried about. Their review rating over their client's care. Before my negative review, their doctors pushed and pushed for my having surgery on my spine. A procedure they put off for months. That I needed to be hospitalized. Because of my negative review, their so-called specialist states that my pain and slipped disks w/ pinched nerve is entire psychosomatic. It is now Monday, 28 September 2026, in that I haven't heard from anyone at Ankin Law in five weeks. read more

I had a great experience in the beginning. When they knew I had a case, they communicated. But after some weeks, they never replied emails or phone calls. Their assistant was very rude. Never gave advice and they felt annoyed when I asked a question. I decided to ask for another opinion and I am glad I did!!!! What disappointed me is that I still have to give a percentage of my settlement to them, when they dont deserve it. My other lawyer deserves 100%. His assistant and he communicated very well. Explore your options. Ask questions. A lot! And if they get bothered or their assistants cant help you, its a red flag!!! read more

I called Ankin Law after my accident and they took my case. My evidence was overwhelming and pictures don't lie. After almost 2 years, I contacted the office to get an update. They told me they could no longer represent me. I called the office and asked, "at what point were you going to call me to tell me this?" She was so rude, I ended up calling Howard Ankin. Do you know what he said? "Why are you calling me?" I said, "Isn't your Law Firm called Ankin Law?" What a loser. By law, (I believe) you only have 2 years in ILL to file a claim and no one would take my case at this point. At some point, I was able to prove the other side was lying (pictures don't lie) and had no problem going to court. Luckily, the other side ended up settling. I would never recommend this law firm due to lack of professionalism. The one thing I've learned, when it comes to personal injury lawyers, always find out if your personal injury lawyers are trial lawyers. If they're not...you will waste your time (for me almost 2 years). If the other party doesn't agree to settle and your lawyer isn't a TRIAL LAWYER....your lawyer may dump your case. read more

Better communication is the only way you guys can improve. My wife is using you guys to represent her for a car accident that happened almost 2 years ago and she has yet to hear back from anyone there. This is pathetic, she reached out 2 days agao again and couldn't get a hold of anyone. She left messages asking for someone to return her calls and nothing. Her attorney is maria who was recommended by someone we know but I tell you this I will NEVER recommend this firm to anyone. You guys dont even deserve one star. read more

These law offices need to do better with their call center training. I chatted on line with their pop up then they called me. I spoke to one csr who transferred me to another. The second csr put me on hold to read my issue that I sent in the chat. After asking all kinds of questions, she proceeds to tell me that Ankin law does not do civil rights cases? What, then why is it plastered all over the website? I asked her why she asked tons of questions if they don't handle civil rights cases? No answer. Either remove that you handle civil rights cases off your website and get your csr's in good training!!!! read more

Do NOT go with this firm. They take your case and then never follow up. I've left multiple messages and haven't received a single call back. Completely unresponsive and frustrating to deal with. read more

I know not every case will be accepted, but at least ask the correct questions so you get accurate information and can make an informed decision. The intake staff is poorly trained. It felt like the person I was speaking with had a bit of a comprehension issue. I had to keep repeating myself. She certainly wasn't interested in the facts of my case. I was put on hold twice so that she could discuss with an attorney. Maybe the attorney should have given me 2 minutes of their time. This firm only wants cases that are easy and will make them as much money as possible where they can do the least amount of work. It's only personal for them. read more

Phil Risely is a very compassionate and understanding lawyer. He helped me all the way through the process.

Ankin Law has been tirelessly working hard at trying to get a hold of me, pretty sure to try to appease me into removing my review of them. Their email to me after, insinuates that I further don't understand what they 'told me,' which is upsetting, of course I understand that they might not take on every case. My disgust is not in what they said, but how it was said to me! It's having common courtesy and sensitivity when speaking to someone, especially someone who may have some mental disability or difficulty communicating to begin with. Please educate those answering the phone, at the end of the day you are speaking with people who may have been through a traumatic situation, don't aggravate or poke fun of their situation, you are not speaking to robots. read more

Ankin Law - Personal Injury Law Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I referred this firm to a close friend just from the Sox game commercials when he was t-boned in a car accident. His elderly mother bruised and battered died soon after. Ankin law gave him high expectations with promises of a quick settlement like within 90 days. BS They passed his case on to one associate after another Then some 4 years later they recommend a paltry settlement so they can cover their expenses. He got $19k after they estimated he'd get over $100k Apparently they're not a contingency based firm. He knew I had no knowledge of the firm but in retrospect wished he had gotten a local firm who cared. "Injury law made personal"? Personal for who? read more

Ankin Law employs Raquel Gross as one of their staff attorneys after working at another company a few years earlier. My advice to you is to beware! If you email her for info or updates regarding your case, i my opinion, she won't response in a timely fashion. ( See included pic) If you decide to use her, then I warn you, do so at your own risk!!!! Also if you decide to lodge a complaint against any Illinouis licensed lawyer, don't waste your time with ARDC, the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission since they close the majority of the complaints they receive. I had the most unprofessional and callously rude experience from an attorney, Raquel Gross, I spoke to by phone in a consultation. She listened to my story at first, but immediately came to the conclusion that my story doesn't fit their criteria. I had a few questions as to why she feels that way, and maybe I didn't offer some information that she needed to hear, but she flat out refused to even speak to me any longer. I was perfectly nice and polite, as I always am, when she suddenly became aggressive and rude. I was only trying to ask if she could could give me an example of what I would need to make this a prospective case, and she proceeded to aggressively state to me, "Oh let me just go ahead and tell you that we are not going to dive into hypothetical, and what ifs, we don't work like that here. We are not going to take your case." She then hung up the phone call while I was in mid sentence. I wasn't even given the dignity of sympathy for what I had experienced, which is why I called. She treated me like I wasn't worth her time, her expertise nor compassion. Sure, she is not my friend, but she is supposed to be a professional who works with the law to find monetary settlements for those who are suffering, injured and in need. She treated me unlike I've been treated by a purported professional over the phone. I expect that from kids working in grocery stores, not full grown adults that have passed the bar. I did not expect her to take my case. I did, however, expect her to talk to me like a person with a reasonable amount of respect and dignity. She failed on that, and verbally abused a person who is suffering in pain possibly due to the topic of discussion, medical malpractice. No one should ever be treated like that by anyone at this or any law firm. This should be reported as predatory behavior and discrimination towards vulnerable persons. read more

I heard of Ankin Law from watching the Steve Wilkos Show. I assumed Steve was referring a reputable law firm. I referred my brother in law to Ankin after he slipped on something in a grocery store and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. He broke his hip, needed surgery, spent some time in the hospital and was transferred to a therapy center for a month. My sister contacted Ankin Law firm and I'm sorry she did. After a year of getting passed from attorney to attorney, which apparently was useless, she was told they couldn't do anything. I guess if you are older, you aren't worth their time. I still watch Steve Wilkos, but I have to change the channel when Ankin commercials come on because I get angry thinking about how my family was treated. read more

I fell at Walmart last year. It wasn't just a fall in the store, it was a premises issue outside. I called Ankin, they said they'd consider my case. First, this review is for a specific attorney, I had a previous attorney (Jonel Metaj) but he left Ankin and my case was automatically referred to attorney Brien DiNella, let me say, this guy will NOT care about you or anything related to your workers comp case. I've repeatedly let him know that I've been trying to pay rent and food and need my compensation for time off from my shoulder surgery. I had surgery on my shoulder on Sept 23rd. TO THIS DAY, I have not received a cent in time off for SURGERY. PRETTY MUCH EXACTLY WHAT WORKERS COMP IS FOR. This weak pansy has no fighting spirit. I talked to him about why my benefits were denied and his response was always, "Well, they're saying that I was approved for light duty" Well Brien, I just gave you notes that said "OFFICE JOB ONLY" and my previous job didn't have office duty work. I looked up the law and light duty only applies if it IS AVAILABLE. Also, I HAD TO LOOK UP THE LAW MYSELF to find that out, with HIM, being the lawyer. Plus, I am in a cast, so how am I supposed to work, while in a cast and recovering while using pain killers? The fact that he just stated what the insurance company states and has the demeanor of just throwing up the white surrender flag with no opposition to what they're saying shows that he does not care about you. Okay, so eventually I called him and told him I need to pay RENT and FOOD after BEING IN A CAST for months and still recovering from my shoulder surgery. He stated that eventually, after filing an emergency motion that they AGREED TO PAY for at least one month of me being in the cast (I was in the cast for around three months, but I'll take what I can get because I need the money) Then after no receiving ANY check for two weeks. I HAVE TO CALL HIM, and he states that they changed their mind and HE MADE NO FREAKING EFFORT TO CONTACT ME AT ALL. AFTER I'VE BEEN WAITING TO PAY RENT AND NOW HAVING TO DIG INTO MY SAVINGS AND ASK FAMILY FOR MONEY FOR SOMETHING ASK STRAIGHTFORWARD AS RECOVERING FROM SURGERY. This is unjust and unreasonable delay and he should automatically be pushing for penalties from the workers comp without me having to say anything but his demeanor has just be a nonchalant, uncaring, and monotone in explaining that they changed their minds. This guy might be a psychopathic. Absolutely no care or empathy whatsoever in his demeanor to me and I can only speak about him and not my previous attorney (Jonel Metaj) as he was good and this doesn't apply to any other attorneys to Ankin, although he is still a representative of them. Ankin needs to fire this guy as every attorney has a duty to operate in his clients best interest and he is actually committing malpractice with the amount of non caring he puts in fighting for a clients rights in workers comp. WHY EVEN BECOME AN ATTORNEY BRIEN IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO FIGHT FOR YOUR CLIENTS RIGHTS? Go work at McDonalds where your non caring nonchalant attitude will not impede a persons right to compensation in a lawsuit. read more

If I could give a 0 out of 5 I definitely would. I injured myself on the job back in December of 2019. I started seeing a doctor that my employer sent me to when I injured myself and was told that I had strained my neck and to take it easy for a bit being on light duty at work. I started to have much more complications over time where my neck popped from time to time causing shooting pain down my whole right arm, mid chest and mid back. I had an MRI done to see what was going on and they told me that I have two herniated disks C5 and C6. They had me do injections and therapy. I did the injections two different times and did therapy which nothing was helping what so ever. Doctor wanted me to see another specialist for another opinion to see what other options we may have. When seeing this specialist he had nothing of mine in hand to review the MRI report and said he would let me know when he gets it and reviews it. I left that day thinking to myself this was a waste of time being asked what is the problem when he clearly knew what the issue was and then the following morning I received a call from Sedgwick saying you are clear to go back to work as they said in the report that there is nothing wrong with you and that you don't need any further treatment or therapy. I was still in a lot of pain with no results what so ever. I went back to work on Full Duty reinjuring myself yet again because I am weak in one side and I was sent back to their doctor yet again. I was referred by a friend of mine to reach out to Ankin Law so they can work this case of mine. I began seeing my own specialist and doctors and even went to ATI for Physical Therapy. I began all of this in May of 2020 and started the case with Brien DiNella. He made me believe this whole time for a year and two months that he has been doing so much for me when in reality he did nothing for me at all. The WORST attorney I have ever met. I have never seen him in person before but have always talked over the phone or by email. If I needed to ask any questions it felt as I was calling my father who was busy at work and couldn't get a full minute of his time over the phone. Brien was very rude most of the time when talking to me over the phone. At times he would never answer my calls nor return my calls. I would email him at times and have to send a follow up email for him to respond to. I did treatment with my own specialist and therapy for 4-6 months and nothing helped out so my last option was to have surgery. In March of this year is when I seen my specialist and told him that I wanted to have surgery. I reached out to Brien letting him know that I chose to do surgery so he was aware of the situation keeping him in the loop of things. He said we now wait till we get an answer from Sedgwick. A week went by nothing, two weeks went by I reach out to Brien and said what is the hold up. He goes you need to wait. I will call you when I know what's going on. I said okay but I am in a lot of pain and this is taking so long. He said he would said out an Emergency Motion which would speed up the process. I thanked him for that and waited another 2-3 weeks. I was mentioned that Sedgwick has a doctor who has to review the report too so they can see if I in fact need surgery or not. I already knew in the back of my mind they were going to say no. Why? Because I hear about this all the time when someone goes through workers comp its always denied for whatever reason. So on Friday May 21st 15 minutes before Brien got off of work he decided to reach out via email to share the report he received stating that they denied surgery. He said nothing in the email besides sharing it. I called him when I seen it at 5:15pm and was told he was already out of the office for the weekend. I was very upset that my attorney failed to reach out by phone to talk it over with me and tell me what the next step would be. Instead he shared the report knowing that it was the weekend and did not care to help any further. I had to reach out to a new attorney someone who is willing to go the extra mile to assist with this case. My new attorney had to ask numerous time to sign the release so he can take over the case. He called and emailed and Brien took long as usual to return back to a call or email. After 4 weeks my new Attorney reached out letting me know that Brien finally signed the release. Gave me some bad news mentioning that Brien had no records of mine. ONLY THING was a receipt he had on file for a co pay that I had to take care of at a doctors office. Huge waste of time. I could have had surgery and went back to work already. I don't ever recommend someone to use Ankin Law and definitely not using Brien DiNella for any services. A whole year a two months went down the drain and I will never get that time back. Have been in extreme pain for way to long and this guy did nothing. On top of it all he also lied to me that he put a Emergency Motion in to speed up the process. HUGE WASTE read more
