Fitness Ankeny 24-7 - Squat rack and deadlift platforms

The gym has two floors; most of the weights that I enjoyed using is on the first floor, while the second floor has more of the cardio type equipment, although there is an area where there is a cross-trainer and some light weights. They have several squat/deadlift platforms, so you know this gym is legit. Plenty of free weights, a few bench presses, and weight machines as well. I love the color theme here. It's probably not a big deal to most people, but it reminds me of the Marvel Ironman-red color, and I'm a fan. Locker rooms is located on the first floor, near the check-in, and everything appears clean and fresh. On the weight area, there are a couple of private bathrooms near the weight machines, so lift some weights, pop a squat, as needed, and then do some squats with no worry of anything popping out.

Aspen Athletic Clubs is a pretty cool place. It is relatively small (compare it to say an Xsport or…read moreLA Fitness), but it has everything I need, including an area where I can do deadlifting without anyone frowning at me, as they have a good section dedicated to powerlifts and crossfit. This gym has a decent amount of cardio machines, along with several squat racks (three of em) and a couple of pulley machines. For bench pressing, there's no conventional bench presses, rather, they have racks, where you can place barbell holders at and move over a bench so you have an impromptu bench press. They also have a decent amount of dumbbells. I really liked the crossfit area as they got racks to perform them silly kip pullups along with medicine balls and Olympic plates. They also have a decent padded section where you can do stretches. BATHROOM REVIEW: This is more about the locker room. Pretty decent, with no naked old men walking around air-drying their nether regions. That's great in my book. Sit or squat? Squat.... it's still a locker room :-P

It's a atmosphere that welcomes all levels of fitness types from serious body builders to the treadmill book readers. Since no place is perfect though, I would like to say it would be nice if some new equipment were being cycled in soon, it keeps the vibe higher if customers see improvement and change for the better since isnt that the whole reason most people go to the gym is to improve and change for the better....

Clean facility, great staff. Only downside is they do not respond to voicemails, you will have to call repeatedly and have luck to get a hold of someone on their time. Chris handled my cancellation in person, he was very professional and let me know that I can cancel my cancellation any time in the next two weeks. Going to miss this gym as it's in an awesome location. These pics are outdated-they've added a lot of equipment and upgrades to really make this a decent gym to just go and pick up some heavy stuff and put em back down. As a former employee at one of the largest Lifetime Fitness gyms, I can say that these folks run a tight ship and ensure you'll be getting your money's worth. Would recommend this gym to anyone, especially if you plan on traveling or going to the gym at any time of the day (without paying extra!)

It's so wonderful having a place we completely trust and are thankful to send our kids to. I love the Montessori philosophy and inquiry based learning methods. They do such a great job supporting children's natural curiosity while also teaching independence, responsibility and important life skills. I've been so impressed with how's much my kids have learned and how's much fun they have! They love their teachers, they do so many fun activities and never seem to get bored. I'm also impressed with how often the activities in the room change, and all the cool arts projects they bring home! The owner and all the teachers are truly the best people; kind, nurturing, patient with a solid sense of humor. We're so lucky to have MCC in our lives!

While, they're not as strict as other Montessori daycares, I find that a good approach. Children are meant to be children and they discover with play. Applying strict rules to everything restricts kids imagination but that doesn't mean that they are not given structure. As far as I've seen, they keep the kids active during the summer, and whenever weather permits during the winter. I like that they don't have TV and their playground is great. They are right across from a park so they go there during the summer sometimes. The only thing Im not too happy about is when I've called to let them know about something, I feel like i'm always rushed by the person at the other end.
