Herb Bohler I can't say enough about the excellent care that Karin, my wife of 64 years, received from Ashley and Anita's Angels. Ashley came here two mornings each week and would immediately set to doing things that she saw had to be done, from laundry to hygiene/exercise, to preparing Karin's breakfast and/or lunch. As Karin's dementia slowly increased, she wasn't always cooperative, but Ashley was always ready to say or do the appropriate, kindly things. When Karin passed away, suddenly, quietly, in her sleep, Ashley came immediately to help with the enormous number of details required by a death. I honestly don't know how I could have given Karin the care that she needed in those last few months. I would like to express my gratitude and strongly recommend Anita's Angels, Inc Health Care Agency in Flemington, NJ After having major surgery, both my wife and I, needed to have some in home assistance. After researching numerous private agencies, a neighbor recommended them. All of the people involved from Tom, the owner, who interviewed us to the visiting nurses to the office personnel were not only professional but caring and compassionate. As patients of Anita's Angels for quite a while, we have been happy not only with their superior service, but also with their kindness and caring. We now have found another reason to appreciate them even more. At a recent nurse's visit a heart problem was discovered that we had no idea existed. All is working out fine due to the early detection by the nurse. Now we understand and really appreciate the importance of these visits and will never, ever, grunt and groan again, lol. Anita's Angels cared for my mother after my father's death in January. My Mom had dementia. Anita's Angels initially placed my mother with a caretaker who neglected her. We know this because we placed a nanny cam in the home after my sister overheard her yelling at my mother. What we witnessed was horrifying -- we met with Tom, the owner, the next business day and had her fired on the spot. At that time, my mom occasionally needed help ambulating. This caretaker ignored my mother's multiple pleas for help to go to the bathroom. While the caretaker spoke on the phone, in the same room as my mother, my mother was repeatedly asking for help. When she finally addressed my mother, she moved her from one chair to another instead of taking her to the bathroom. When my mother messed herself, she shamed her. She talked on the phone for hours and did not even hang up to feed my Mom. These are just a few examples of her bad treatment of my mother. To Tom's credit, he addressed our demand to get rid of her immediately. He asked for another chance to make what happened "right," and he replaced her with someone we liked very much. My Mom entered hospice care under this person's care, and she had a nice rapport with my mother and addressed her needs well. My mom suffered a couple of falls under her care, but we felt she was a good fit for my Mom's needs, and we were relieved to have her after our awful experience. It was an issue, though, that this lovely caretaker went on vacation several times in four months. We were not happy with her replacements. None was as on top of things or as good a fit for my Mom. Some were adequate and we waited it out for our regular caretaker's return. The last time she went on vacation was for ten days. I placed a call to Tom before her replacement came on board, because I recognized the replacement's name and remembered my father did not like her very much when she came to relieve his caretaker. My father, who died of cancer, had all of his faculties up until time of death. Tom never returned my call asking about the replacement's credentials and experience with dementia and hospice patients. This woman was kind to my mother. She was also completely incompetent to care for her. My mom suffered another fall under her care, and though Mom was eating barely a couple of tablespoons of food each day, this woman insisted she eat. Hospice witnessed my mother coughing while this aide was feeding her, and they instructed her, as did my sister and I, multiple times, to only offer Mom food if she was fully alert and awake and wanted it. Even with these admonitions, she woke my mother up at 4 a.m. to try to feed her yogurt. She also administered incorrect medications to my mother. She was instructed to document meds, and when she didn't, I asked her to recount what my mother had and when. It was incorrect, even though, again, she was instructed by both my sister and me, and the instructions were written down for her as well. We witnessed this because we were staying with my Mom overnight. This was because hospice insisted this woman have additional help. Hospice told us my mother was being neglected, that her multiple falls bordered on abuse, and we needed to get additional care until our regular caretaker returned. We even paid Anita's Angels to hire someone hourly for the overnight hours when we were not available. Even in this situation, where we needed to cover for their caretaker whom we were paying for, Anita's Angels was only able to provide the additional coverage for one of the seven remaining nights of my mother's life. My mom ultimately aspirated and died of pneumonia a week later. I spoke with Tom to complain about him placing my Mom with someone who clearly did not have the skill set to care for her. He kept insisting how much Anita's Angels cares (with his hand on the Bible, he said; told me his mother's name is on the business; and they even brought us a plant when Mom died, he said). I told him he could have kept the plant and given my mother appropriate care instead. I don't doubt the caretaker was kind. I assure you she was in over her head and should not have been caring for a hospice patient. I lost all faith in the agency to place appropriate caretakers, to have enough coverage for their live-ins who go on vacation, and to address client concerns. When I complained that Tom did not return my call, I was informed he had knee surgery the following week. And? He did not return my call, nor did he have anyone else address my concerns. It was only after my mother died that he called me back. I would never recommend this agency for anyone who needs long-term care. read more

We are extremely happy with the team at Anita's Angels. They have been caring for my father for 6 weeks and the personal attention and efforts in making him feel comfortable and cared for are outstanding. As he has been dealing with a few physical ailments over the last couple of weeks, the Anita's Angels team has been flexible and very accommodating. The people at Anita's Angels are as good as they come. They were centrally involved in my father's in-home care for the better part of 8 years and their help to him and our family through every stage of his later years was a huge source of comfort and assistance. I can't say enough about them. I will say that the particular caregiver that gets assigned is extremely important, and we were lucky to find 2 that hit if off very well with my father. The family must be observant to see if the caregiver and patient hit it off, and to make sure the caregiver is equiped to handle the patent's needs. If that doesn't happen on the first try, you should keep trying until it does. read more

We were so pleased with Anita's Angels. The angels you sent us were just great people. Both were compassionate, professional, and very personable. Their gentle and understanding patience with our mother was highly valued. The thoughtful design of your caregiving is notable. Of the various services and agencies we have come into contact with over the years, Anita's Angels was the only one to ask us about Mother as an individual-her life and experiences, her hobbies, her interests, nad her enthusiasms. We employed the services of Anita's Angels, an Elder-Care provider located in Flemington, NJ, from approximately mid-September, 2010, through mid-February, 2011. We needed these services to provide care in our home for our mother. She is 89 years old, blind, diabetic, and requires the use of a walker due to an arm and hip injury. While the services of the caregivers provided by Anita's Angels were for the most part poor in a number of ways, the focus of our complaint is Mr. Tom Bay, owner and proprietor of Anita's Angels. My wife and I needed to be in another State from February 6th through February 9th. We had arranged for care for our mother over that period of time through both Anita's Angels, and through caregivers we had arranged for on our own. One of those caregivers was a former employee of Anita's Angels who we had asked to cover two nights for us. We only used this former employee once they had stated they no longer worked for Anita's Angels. We called Anita's Angel's office and spoke with one of the office personnel, Peggy. We arranged with Peggy which days we would need care, and told Peggy which days we would not need care. Apparently this information was not conveyed to Tom Bay. On Tuesday, February 8th, Mr. Bay came to our home at approximately 9:30 AM, with a caregiver. A cleaning lady answered the door. Mr. Bay asked if we were there, he was told we were not. Unannounced, without our permission, and while we were not present, Mr. Bay nonetheless entered our home. He somehow became aware that his former employee was in our house and this made him enraged. He went throughout our home, entering rooms in search of this person. He came to a closed bathroom door and began banging on it and yelling to be let in. Our elderly mother was in the bathroom on the toilet. The sound of a man violently banging on the door, yelling and demanding to be let in, terrified her and brought her to tears. His behavior was so terrorizing that the caregiver, hid in the shower with the curtain pulled closed. She felt so threatened that she thought of jumping out of the bathroom window. The incident caused our mother to be upset and confused for the next few days. We feel Mr. Bay's behavior was at a minimum extremely unprofessional, and most likely criminal, and are currently exploring what legal recourse we might have in that regard. We write this review in the hopes of sparing others from having to endure a similar experience with Mr. Tom Bay and Anita's Angels. - Kevin B read more
