I've been on the hunt for a tailor in the area for a few months and decided to come here after reading the good reviews. I had 5 pairs of pants that needed to be hemmed and one of them that needed to be taken in. I arrived and tried on the pants and was told it would take 2 weeks and cost $105 for the hems and waist adjustment. 2 weeks later I pick up the pants and out of the 5 only one was properly tailored. 2 of the pants were about a half an inch too short and the other 2 were about 1.5 inches too long. Knowing that I couldn't wear the pants that were too long without them dragging on the floor I returned to have them fixed. Upon arriving I explained the situation and received an attitude and blame. She let me know it was my fault because I wore the wrong shoes during the fitting? Mind you, the other pants were too short (v too long) so I'm not really sure how the shoes contributed to that if I needed the pants to be the same length. She agreed to fix the pants at no extra cost (after much complaint) and when I picked them up one pair was completely uneven (one leg was noticeably longer than the other) and the other pair was cut too short. It was a huge mistake bringing them back but I didn't want to pay for the service again for someone else to fix them. Such a disappointment to have 4 pair of great quality pants (about $600 worth of clothing) ruined this way. read more

I rarely write reviews anymore so when I do it means something. Ani's tailoring is simply amazing. She is extremely professional, courteous and personable. I got a 3 piece suit altered (put on a few pounds) and she made it fit like a glove. It was perfect. I have never felt happier wearing a suit. Wow! I choose to go to ani because of the high reviews. I couldn't believe the conditions of the bldg/parking... overall place. I was to leave an $800 dress in this place? I couldn't believe it. I wonder if her place smells of cooked food from the restaurant adjacent to the bldg. well, I was skeptical to enter but we did. The sarcasm and rude tone we received from this women, in front of another client. My daughter and I were speechless. I hope ani reads this review. I was dropping off my daughters $800 prom dress to get hemmed. No special hem, a beaded gown.... The prom is in two weeks.... I can't imagine this job would be this difficult. In any case, when ani asked to see the gown and the date... she RUDELY & SARCASTICALLY replied why didn't we come next week? Implying we waited so long to come for alterations and ended her sentence with I can't do it. Ani is the best! She has many years of experience and is very talented. Ani does a fantastic job, and I can depend on her to have the work completed when she says she will. She is fair and gave me her honest opinion about whether a second item (a women's suit jacket) would even be worth tailoring since it didn't fit me right in a few places. She was right that it would be better to return it to the department store than to start paying money to reconstruct the whole jacket. She could have just taken on the job to make money but I really appreciated that she was upfront and gave me her honest opinion about it. Ani is incredible! I've been going there for years. I now live at the jersey shore and I still take a trip up once a month for my tailoring needs. She is incredible at hemming jeans (I only trust her with my expensive jeans). She had fixed so many of my jackets and makes every dress fit perfectly (she did my prom dress when I was younger)! During my monthly trip I always drop my clothes off at the dry cleaner downstairs (he's hilarious). Even after the fact that we've moved to NYC 3years ago, we still go to Ani for all of our tailoring (as well as our dry-cleaning sometimes to Midland Cleaners which is in the same location). She really does the best work ever; the hem to our jeans look professional, dresses that are too big or too small she fixes and they fit like a glove, and best part is she's HONEST. I took my daughter's dress to Ani's Tailoring for alterations for my wedding. On the day I was scheduled to pick the dress up, I called her to let her know that I would be there by 4:00 p.m. (the time she closed). She said as long as I'm there by 4:00 p.m., it would not be a problem. I told her I would try my best, but was stuck in traffic. When I arrived at 3:55 p.m., I dropped my daughter off at the door to get the dress and try it on quick. She threw the dress at my daughter and told her she was closing. I think she should have given my daughter the opportunity to try the dress on to make sure that it fit properly. She did a decent job on the alteration, but was not very accommodating. read more
