To begin this studio does a great job of maintaining a professionally run business while creating a artistic environment ripe for the amazing designs that come out of it. I initially corresponded through Amani's assistant to schedule my consultation. Once I arrived I was escorted back up the booth, a large room amongst several other artists. Amani greeted me and inquired about the concept that I had in mind for the tattoo. In true artist fashion, he sought to merge my concept and his artistic vision. He inquired about the thoughts, ideas and reasons behind my idea. This brainstorming helped us to form a great tattoo design. I'm currently sitting in the chair getting my half sleeve. Amani is meticulous about the sterile as and sanity of his tools, which is refreshing and set my mind at ease. I will say that I was slightly frightened by releasing some artistic license, the idea that was shared and being done has me beyond excited. i've been anxious about getting a septum for a very very long time and just like you i stalked all of the reviews of all of these different tattoo shops in indy and this place genuinely calmed my nerves so much right when i walked in the guy at the counter was super nice & talkative, and my piercer aj was very respectful and did my piercing in maybe 1-2 minutes:-) the music and just the overall vibe felt so comfortable, very clean AND AFFORDABLE!!! i definitely recommend this place if it's your first piercing i will be back for tats for sure read more

Went in to get a hoop for my nose that had fallen out the day before, and my partner had wanted to get their septum redone and nose piercing. Their nose piercing had went fine but their septum was done way too low and went in crooked (even when they told them that they wanted to make sure it wasn't too low) . After doing their septum the piercer claimed that they flinched before we had even said anything about the piercing. The pain was unbearable for them and we needed to remove it almost immediately. When I had went to get the jewelry they claimed my nose had probably closed up and tried to shove a 16 through my 20 piercing and almost made me passed out. I do not recommend going here. They did not listen to our requests and concerns and felt as if the customer was not held at the forefront of the service. read more

I've had my smiley piercing before but it closed - it's my birthday so I decided to get it redone. I scheduled my appt and received a confirmation email that confirmed my 6pm. I don't understand the point of making appts if you're going to still be late - you might as well accept walk in's. It's becoming hard to support certain owned businesses that lack professional - if I'm respecting your time and arriving early, I would want my time respected as well and said person ready for said scheduled appt. read more

I was tattooed in part by AMH. I had a horrible experience of getting a sleeve done over the last few months and was really trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt because it's black owned. However i feel the need to write this review after being disrespected multiple times. First of all the work itself is well done. That is the only pro. The cons are as follows: 1. Last minute time changes to appointments. Like hours difference in time change communicated at the original start of the appointment. On my third session the appointment was scheduled 3 weeks in advanced for a all day "blacked out session" at 9am and artist cancelled at 8:30am day of via text. I was already at the studio when i received this message and ended up being out money as I had to pay for an all day babysitter and take off of work. 2. Not focusing on the client, doing consultations and piercings during sessions. Taking long 30 minute+ breaks. This resulted in very minimal progress being made on the tattoo. Spent two all day sessions 10+ hours and sleeve is still only outlined and small bottom section has shaded. 3. Overall rude and unprofessional attitude. Good table side manner but not professional in text or communicative. Follow up texts about tattoo or confirmation of appointment were ignored repeatedly. Overall this has been the worst tattoo experience I've ever had and I was having reservations even coming to this appointment that ended up being cancelled in the final hour. Again i think the artist work is great but i do expect some level of professionalism when looking for a permanent addition to my body. Hopefully they can work these issues out and if you do choose to use them you have a much better experience. read more

Went in without an appointment and they easily fit us in for an ear piercing. Prices were extremely reasonable and the procedure was very clean and professional. The piercers were very experienced and friendly, however, the atmosphere wasn't necessarily inviting. Overall, the experience was good and we would definitely recommend for piercings. read more

It's hard to write a description about this place because it's such an experience and you really need to just go and see for yourself, my words will not be able to do it justice. There's so much more to it than just walking in and getting a tattoo, I walked in did a consultation and right from the start the energy and ideas come out. I gave Amani my theme and one piece that had to be in my sleeve and let him create the rest. When the time come for my first appointment I didn't know what to expect and ended up sitting for 18hrs, you may think that's a long time but honestly Amani started working and piecing things together and we would look at it and he would have another idea and change a little here and there until we both decided it was perfect. The time I spent in the chair went by so fast between Netflix, guest popping in every once in awhile, videos on the computer and just having life talks about how we both raise our kids, current events, politics, our travels and anything and everything else. I honestly feel like I picked up a friend for life just by a simple recommendation from a couple old teammates. I'm eager to go back and continue when these lines heal up. I got my septum pierced here and I had a HORRIBLE experience. I thought my healing process was normal as I had never experienced it before, however comparing it to others who have had theirs done I knew my piercer really messed me up. I couldn't move my upper lip or touch any part of my nose for months. Anytime I would try to smile I would get excruciating pain. They sent me out of their shop bleeding HARD out of my nose, and when I went back in to see if they could clean me up they just handed me a paper towel. I thought this place would be great, but I was very wrong. THEY SHOULD NOT BE PIERCING IF THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO. I hate to leave a bad review for a small and black-owned business, but reading these reviews just makes me more concerned. This place should be shut down. read more

We went in to get a tattoo for a friend of mine. We paid the $100 deposit and our appointment was at 7pm. We get there early rather to see how it would turn out. 7pm rolls around and the artist decides to take another customer in our spot so we paint tent love you waited, then he took another customer after that. By this point we waited for our 7pm appointment till about 11pm. (We thought about leaving but had all ready paid the $100 so we had to stick it out). By the time we left it was almost 2 am. Never again will I go there for another service the most unprofessional service we've ever gotten. Do not waste your money. read more

So i've gotten my nose and rook done so far at animation by amh and she's literally amazing. the jewelry is really nice, the piercings are properly placed and straight, the entire shop is very clean and she tells you exactly what's going on so you're never in the dark. it's the only place i'm ever going to go to for piercings. absolutely outstanding read more

This studio is full of real people doing good work. They have several artists. My husband and I have been working with stoffer for quite some time now. He finished work on my husband's half sleeve that was started by some jerk Ink Master guy up in Lafayette. My husband was charged $1,500 for unfinished work there. Stoffer was able to finish it, make it look better than the original sketches, and charge about half as much to get it done right. Yes, as the above post stated, Amani is the owner and he can charge whatever he wants for pieces he wants to do. That's his right to say he only does large pieces. But a little more research would have shown that there are multiple artists here who will do any size piece and are extremely reasonable. I have never been able to not get an appointment within 10 days of a request, and the work isn't meticulous and proper. We have recommended our friends see stoffer for their ink, I even brought my daughter on her 18th birthday. I have lots of tattoos that have been done at some great places all over Indy. I love my artists and stand by them. Stoffer is one of those guys. read more

I contacted Amani Tre Niner(Tattoo Artist) and was communicating back and forth with his assistant since she handles all of his appointments. To make a long story short after letting her know what work I wanted to get done she informed me that he was not interested in the work I wanted to get done except for one piece, but he wanted to do it his way not the way I was asking.(That particular tattoo would have been a cover-up of a small tattoo which he wanted to make the size of HALF OF MY BACK or my ENTIRE BACK! Even though the tattoo being covered isn't any where NEARRRRR that large! I don't know if this is his way of trying to get extra money out of people or what, but I'm not about to tattoo my entire down back so that you can have a bigger payday.) I don't see how anyone even feels comfortable with saying this to someone or how you think this makes any sense( I feel like that response is just rude and unprofessional) because at the end of the day my tattoos aren't for you, there for me. On top of that his assistant told me that they don't book under $1,000 which I find very hard to believe because on his page there are a couple of tattoos that I noticed that were really small( one that looks like it may have taken 10-15 minutes at the most to do). There's no way in hell someone paid $1,000 for that! So I feel like they were trying to take a piss out of me which is beyond frustrating seeing as how I would have been flying in from another state to be tattooed by him(EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTING). This was extremely shocking and MIND BOGGLING to me. I've never heard of an artist as talented as he is refusing to tattoo someone. I figured that of all the different tattoo artist I've come across online that he would be capable of doing the work that I want.
