I have been coming to this store for the last 4 years never had an issue. yesterday I had the experience, I have to say I wasn't paying attention to the sign on the door I just seen the door open and walked in, an older man was there and instead of politely saying Ms. we are closed he came off very hostile, yelling to read the fucking sign as I'm walking out the door walking to me and saying he keeps the door open cause he likes fucking air. I'm pretty sure of that was a male that wouldn't be how the man would have approached the situation but since I'm a 4'9 woman why not. This is the neighborhood spot for pet supplies. With our veterinarian right next store, it is conveniently located. This is the place you bring your prescription when you need special diet food for your pet in a flash. Over the years, I have been here multiple times, but only recently noticed that they have a HUGE selection of different canned food for dogs and cats. I had only ever been to the front area of the store, but was impressed to see the variety of different brands when I ventured down the aisles. Special diet dog food cans can be sold individually, which is great if you only need the diet temporarily. Great price too. I wasn't expecting for 2 cans to be around $5, since I once spent $7 on a packet of fish food here. Go figure. Anyway, happy to have a pet supply shop in the area. Great Prices on Cat Food they have one of the largest varieties around, and are cheaper than Petco, Pet Smart and Amazon for many of their items. Have a full range of Grain Free, Limited Ingredient cat food along with the usual Friskies and Fancy Feast. They are also cheaper than my local supermarkets for the fancy feats. We stop by here to buy dry food for our cats and the boss lady is always friendly, honest and does hot oversell. She and her two kitties (I think that's it) are ready to lend a paw if/when you need it and it's just nice to support a small business that's serving the community. read more

BUYER BEWARE! If you want to give your money to someone who will speak to you rudely and abuse you, please shop here. This takes place during the coronavirus at its peak in NY. I live locally and from time to time I shop here. I called and ask if they do curbside delivery and the old man says yes. Let me remind everyone what curbside delivery means, ESPECIALLY during a pandemic. The definition of curbside delivery is (i) place your order (ii) go to establishment (iii) pop your trunk (iv) drive away. All businesses are doing this ... this is NOTHING NEW. I placed my order and asked that a $5 tip be put on the credit card to tip the person putting my order in my trunk. I get there, and the younger guy with no mask or gloves, comes to my car, puts my order in my trunk and then stands outside my window with a pen and a receipt for me to sign. To me he looks like a man standing outside my window pointing a loaded gun at me. I say I cannot sign it (because I have no gloves nor a mask with me ... I had no idea I would have to touch a filthy, dirty chewed up pen because that is NOT curbside delivery during a pandemic). He persists so I pop my glove compartment to see if I have gloves which I don't. Again I say I can't sign it I have no mask or gloves. He goes back inside, talks to the old man, comes back and says you have to sign it. Again I say I CAN'T. So I telephone the old man with the intentions of suggesting that I send him a snapshot of my driver's license to put his mind at ease. However, he won't even let me speak. He starts screaming and yelling at me and I cannot even understand a word he is saying except I believe he says don't shop here no more and hangs up on me. In total disbelief I drive home thinking what a nut and I will most definitely post about his ATROCIOUS, BAD AND EMBARRASSING behavior when I arrive home. Anyway still in disbelief as to what just happened I say to myself nah, he could not have said what I thought he said so before I post anything let me just call him back and make sure I heard him correctly the first time. Anyway he answers the phone and once again he spews the exact same words at me and hangs up on me. Let me tell you something OLD MAN, you are lucky that you were speaking to me and not my mother you piece of garbage. Old man, you are a disgusting human being speaking to anyone that way at any time but more so during a pandemic when most people are extra nice and kind. You should be ashamed of your nasty self. You are a clueless and classless old man who will put yourself out of business with your FN shitty behavior. I see this is a chronic behavior of yours based on reviews that I have found on Yelp, Google, etc. BUYERS beware, the old man apparently has a screw loose. read more

My husband went in to purchase Prescription Diet W/D for our diabetic dog and the rude man indicted that he needed an actual prescription for this food. I wasn't present but my husband called to inform me about this dilemma. I told him I've never heard of such a request. We have always purchased else where (Pet Delight to be exact) and never had a problem. So my husband told me that he explained this to the rude man and his response was "then go to Pet Delight."How can you turn away a customer or none the less respond in such a manner that you would take your business elsewhere. We spend no less than $200 a month for our two loving dogs. My husband and I will have no problem taking our business to any other store that carries our necessary brand of dog food. Not a Mom and Pop Store as stated by other users; there are other Animal Pantry Pet shops... one in Staten Island as well. I like the store as far as variety, but they don't accept coupons for Fancy Feast, yet accept coupons for other brands, which makes no sense to me as the manufacturer reimburses them for the coupon and gives extra for shipping and handling too. I have a colony that I feed in my yard and house pets and the coupons would help. Some of their items are far overpriced, most are fair. Their knowledge is limited in some areas. They were not aware that any clumping litter you can't flush contains bentonite clay and can ultimately kill your cat. I was turned off when I saw them recommending Fresh Step clumping. Bottom line: if the carton doesn't state flushable, don't use it. When I tried to explain it to the "Mom" cashier, she could care less. I wasn't thrilled. She also made a remark to her coworker as I left. Petsmart has a staff with much more knowledge. read more
