Four days after seeing Animal Eye Care. Eye is finally opening.
    Wendy S.

After 3 weeks of working with our regular vet regarding a non-healing cornea scratch Animal Eye Center was able to get our dog Maggie back on track to heal. I truly appreciate being able to get in same day on emergency and feel they potentially saved her from losing her eye. She is still recovering but feel the advancement in healing has finally turned the corner. I sincerely appreciate their care for my small chihuahua.

Update: Dr. Edwards messaged me and addressed some of the issues I raised in my review but not all of them (including that her medical notes contained some incorrect information that I had to ask them to fix, like I also did with the incorrect spelling of my name). She also offered to have a phone call with me and, if I was then satisfied, said she would appreciate it if I would remove my review because it hurts her business. She then proceeded to say that I will "never be satisfied" because most of my reviews are 1-3 stars. She also said that I degraded them in my review which is completely inaccurate. She also claimed that because I researched my dog's eye condition myself that I claimed it was better and more accurate than her experience and training. I never stated anything remotely to that effect. She's taking a factual account of my experience and rather than taking accountability is trying to justify things and to refer to all of the five star reviews that they've gotten, trying to negate my experience. Now she's dropping me as a client. The front desk is extremely disorganized. They were supposed to email me an intake form in advance of the appointment but didn't (they were surprised when I arrived and hadn't completed it). As a result they hadn't requested his medical records in advance of the appointment. I had to repeat my dog's problem and history even though I had emailed it in advance. The appointment with Dr. Edwards only lasted about five minutes and I didn't feel like I was given that much information about his condition. After arriving home I hadn't received the invoice that was supposed to have been emailed. I requested it and was sent that and his medical file with my last name misspelled and an error in the medical record.

They gave us first class treatment. Came in on a weekend for an emergency procedure for my dog, removing a one inch foxtail from her eye. I was concerned that maybe another vet might not properly diagnose the issue. They were already onto the problem and prepared before we arrived. Highly recommend. Had all medication needed on hand. They saved my dog's eye and both of us from a lot more stress. Highly recommend these angels!

Unfortunately my French Bulldog puppy is the epitome of a problem child, and had a prolapse (cherry eye) in both eyes. After his vetrinarian gave us a list of local specialists, I called and got an appointment here within 2 weeks. I was so happy with the bedside manner of the staff, especially when discussing anesthesia of a frenchie because I was a nervous wreck. They put my mind to ease and even accepted my Care Credit. The surgery was about 1/2 of what I expected to pay as well, and his eyes look amazing!! Thanks Animal Eye Center!!

Dr Edwards and Dr Gronkiewicz are wonderful doctors! I've been here three times, once with an older cat with cancer in her eye and twice with tiny rescue kittens who were having herpes outbreaks. In all situations, the front desk was so sweet and helpful, the techs were all very knowledgeable and efficient, and the doctors were very caring and thorough in their examination and treatment of the cats. Nobody wants to have a situation that requires a veterinary specialist, but if you do, then we are very lucky to have Animal Eye Center in our community!

    Rescue Day

Animal Eye Center has given excellent care to my kitty since he was just a few months old. He and his litter-mates had to be pulled from their feral mama at just 4 weeks old due to severe upper respiratory infections (URI) which severely affected their eyes. I was the foster mom through their recovery and ended up adopting this kitty, as his condition was one of the worst in the litter and I had instantly bonded to him. He has been in Dr. G's care and she is wonderful! She is so kind, compassionate and knowledgeable about all things eye! I highly recommend bringing your animal here for any eye issues. The doctors and staff are wonderful and the location is great. Thanks Dr. G for your continued help with tending to my precious kitty's eye care! You're the best!

This post is long over due! My beloved French Bulldog Tank has been under Dr. Sydney Edwards care for some time now. She first took care of ulcers in both eyes and then another situation with drops. She was right on to the day as to when he would be feeling better and always made us feel like he was the most special Frenchie along with the rest of the staff. I believe she saved his eye sight and I could not recommend her more! After hearing of his recent passing, she even sent a hand written note to us in the mail. We cannot express how much that meant to us. Thank you, Dr. Edwards for everything!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO THIS VET…read more On April 12th we took our dog in to an emergency appointment and it was the worst mistake we could have made. Our dog was experiencing pain on one of her hind legs. After $1200, she was misdiagnosed with a partial ligament tear, was given anti-inflammatory meds and we went off with a plan to return on April 17th for follow up blood work as her CBC (WBC) were dangerously low. On Wednesday, April 15 my dog began vomiting and having bloody diarrhea, I contacted Dry Creek the next day to give them an update and was told to monitor and keep the planned appointment for April 17th. On April 17th we went back and my dog was experiencing a very high fever, I told them I didn't want to continue to give her the carprofen because I think that's what caused the upset stomach, I had last administered it on Thursday April 16th. Dr Lehil agreed and changed her anti-inflammatory meds, and prescribed other meds (antibiotics). Kept our dog for the day and released her that evening after she was showing no signs of a fever. During the weekend my dog stopped eating and drinking water and we were to return on Monday, April 20th for yet another follow-up. At that time my dog had a fever again, and we were told we could keep her there or take her to another vet - that's when I should have ran but because they knew what was going on with my dog, had administered bloodwork, etc we kept her there for the day. At 5 pm when we picked her up my dog still had a fever and we were told it was because she was excited while she was kenneled. The Dr (a different vet) told me to take her off of the anti-inflammatory and put her on a strict bland diet. They also prescribed more meds that I never gave my dog because I was petrified of how my dog would react to yet more medication. We took her home and by 7 pm I was rushing her to VCA Loomis for an emergency. My dog became unstable and began breathing rapidly and her fever had increased, in addition I noticed her paw was injured while at Dry Creek earlier that day. VCA Loomis did an ultrasound and when I shared with the vet that they changed out her anti-inflammatory pills from one day to the next she became concerned that my dog may have developed an ulcer as it is recommended that at least 5 days pass before a new anti-inflammatory is administered. In fact, the ultrasound determined my dog had quite a bit of inflammation to her GI system. In addition, the vet at VCA Loomis told me my dog had a complete tear of the ligament and not partial as we had previously been told by Dr. Lehil. I called Dry Creek asking to talk to the owner or office manager and they never called, I went in 2 weeks later and was told the owner would call me. She called the next day and basically said they did what was recommended, didn't take responsibility for any of it and put it on me saying I had the option of taking her to VCA Loomis. All in all, we spent close to $3500 at Dry Creek and my dog's health only deteriorated. If it weren't for VCA Loomis we may have lost her.

Nomination for Veterinarian of the Year: Dr. Sukeep Kaur, DVM…read more Rocklin Ranch Veterinary Hospital For more than fifteen years, Dr. Sukeep Kaur has been one of the quiet, steady forces holding up the animal‑welfare community in Placer County. Her impact is profound, yet she rarely speaks of it. She simply shows up--day after day, year after year--offering her skill, compassion, and time to the people and pets who need her most. Dr. Kaur is known throughout our region as a veterinarian who leads with her heart. She routinely provides free spay and neuter surgeries for low‑income families and for individuals who have no means to pay. She never advertises this generosity; she simply steps in when she sees a need. For many pet owners, her kindness is the difference between keeping a beloved companion or surrendering them. For countless cats and kittens, her willingness to help has prevented suffering and reduced the number of unwanted litters entering local shelters. Her partnership with Kitten Central--our nonprofit neonatal veterinary hospital--has been invaluable. For over fifteen years, Dr. Kaur has been the person we call when emergencies arise, when a fragile newborn kitten needs immediate intervention, or when we face a medical question that requires expert insight. She has never once turned us away. Her guidance has saved lives that would not have survived without her. One of the most meaningful examples of her community impact is her involvement in Senior Saturdays, a monthly outreach program she participates in with one of our board members. Together, they visit nursing homes and assisted‑living communities, bringing small, gentle kittens for residents to hold and interact with. These visits are more than a moment of joy--they are therapy. Residents who seldom speak begin talking. Those who rarely smile light up. Individuals with memory challenges become calm and engaged. Dr. Kaur handles each kitten with tenderness and each resident with dignity, creating a bridge of comfort between generations. Her presence transforms the room. Despite her extensive volunteer work, Dr. Kaur maintains a demanding professional schedule. She works four days a week at one Rocklin Ranch location and fills in at their other practice whenever a veterinarian is sick or on vacation. Most people would call that exhausting. She calls it relaxing. Her dedication to her profession is matched only by her love for the animals and families she serves. What makes Dr. Kaur truly exceptional is not just the number of hours she gives, but the spirit in which she gives them. She never seeks recognition. She never asks for credit. She simply believes that helping animals--and the people who love them--is her responsibility as a veterinarian and as a member of this community. I am certain that what I know of her contributions is only a fraction of the whole. Her humility means that much of her good work happens quietly, without fanfare. But the impact is unmistakable: healthier pets, supported families, comforted seniors, and a stronger, more compassionate community. For her unwavering service, her extraordinary generosity, and her deep commitment to both people and animals, Dr. Sukeep Kaur deserves to be recognized as Veterinarian of the Year. Her work has touched thousands of lives, and our community is immeasurably better because of her.

Fast forward to November 2025, his visit to Loomis Basin vet clinic revealed that he was having internal issues that were likely not going to be solved. I was unaware how severe his condition had become. The vet had suggested that if Aspen did not drastically improve with his eating, it may be time to put him down. For the next few days we gave him prescribed medication for nausea, etc, and tried everything we could to get him to eat. On 11/25, we had to make the awful decision to put him down via euthanasia. He had completely stopped eating, lost a significant amount of weight, and appeared very lethargic. It took them two hours to give meds and of spinning my poor cat in a chair just to come and tell us she did not throw up, we will have to go home and come back at 6am for the doctor to arrive. By the time this whole nightmare was over at 6am the floss would have already reached my cats intestinal track so at 6 am they couldn't even preform the endoscopy. The reviews here seem to be glowingly positive and I wanted to support a local business. Sadly, I was greatly disappointed. My concerns and reason for visit were consistently not taken seriously. For example, when I brought my pet in with upper respiratory issues, I was told "it's not that bad." Well, if ignored, it is actually /is/ that bad. Repeatedly, I sensed a hesitancy to treat my pets' issues proactively, and found the bedside manner here to be sorely lacking. I brought in my pet with symptoms consistent with an upper respiratory infection. Instead of any antibiotics, I was prescribed steroids and an inhaler, which were consistently ineffective. Unfortunately, I allowed this to go on for far too long at this vet and should have listened to my instincts. Three months into this treatment (still without antibiotics), I was told that since my pet didn't respond to steroids, "it's probably cancer" and told to get in with a specialist asap (and that it would be many thousands of dollars). I'll admit I do not have a PhD, but this doesn't seem like very scientific diagnostic criteria to leap to cancer. I fully acknowledge that the realm of veterinary medicine is vast and we still don't know that much about the body in the grand scheme of things, but being consistently ignored and then leaping directly to cancer seems like a stretch. I sought a second opinion at my previous vet, who agreed that leaping to cancer without diagnostics was kind of cruel to my mental health. They promptly issued antibiotics. I also scheduled an appointment with internal medicine elsewhere out of fear from hearing the "cancer" word thrown around. Sure enough, there was a bacterial infection that should have been treated with antibiotics. Due to the delays and not prescribing an antibiotic, the bacterial infection was allowed to go on far too long, resulting in bony destruction. Despite the vet claiming I needed to urgently get my pet in with internal medicine, we still experienced lengthy delays getting copies of my pet's medical records--unfortunately, many internal medicine specialists will not schedule an appointment with you until they've received the records from the prior vet, which just led to further delays. The poor communication, poor attitude, and poor bedside manner further tanked my opinion of my experiences here. Dropping the "cancer" bomb on me with no diagnostics--rude and poorly handled, honestly. I also felt like there was a consistent attitude against me wanting to see the pricing before agreeing to treatment. It should be noted that I agreed to the treatments, however, we all know that in the veterinary and medical world, sometimes there's sticker shock when you see the price. I'd prefer transparency. Asking to see the pricing before committing to expensive treatment seemed to earn quite a few huffs and puffs from staff and the doctor. Overall, my biggest lesson learned here is to get a second opinion, particularly when the symptoms are downplayed for far too long and then the diagnosis suddenly leaps from "asthma" to "cancer." Trust your gut. This is just one example (definitely the most expensive) of my experiences here, but they were consistent enough for me to feel that this was a pattern.

As I sit there waiting patiently, I noticed a few ticks crawling around the waiting area after which I picked my dog up off the ground. VERY unsanitary. When it finally came down to checking in, I was told that I "called in to cancel" my appointment which I clearly did not do as evidenced by my presence and my taking time off to make it to my dogs appointment. They were unwilling to fill my appointment in a timely manner and had given me an option to reschedule. This place is obviously overbooked, understaffed, and impersonal, all of which screams production line $$$$. Based on the sanitation, unprofessionalism, and inability to make up for their staff errors, I would not recommend this place. You are better off going to a place with more personal, courteous care.
