For the first time ever I have walked into a bar in Germany and they had run out of beer. I mean come on, how is that even possible in Beer nation ? Mixed drinks like JD & Coke were minimum €7.50 and above and the bar was also pretty empty when we got there with Rock music from the 90's playing loud. The waitress was lovely and friendly but the guy at the bar seemed a bit grumpy and not interested in serving us. I may come back here again another time and see. It's saving grace is the opening times. 2 am during the week and upto 5am on weekends.

Spacious is definitely not a word that describes this place! However, what it lacks in space it makes up for in character. They have a selection of whiskeys/malts that would satisfy most purists. Oh, and there is a lot of "stuff" hanging all over the walls and ceiling. Like musical instruments and farming tools. In here you will not find flat panel TVs or loud music like you find in other pubs/cafés. But you will find an interesting mix of patrons and one hell of a barman - who happens to be the owner. Wil Lange knows all about service - and a lot about whiskey and cocktails. He will take good care of you while you sit and chat with the locals and visiting foreigners. I noticed recently that The Little One has a presence on the internet now. They have their own Instagram account and a Facebook fan page with quite a following of loyal fans. They may brand themselves as a speakeasy bar now, but this place will always be a dive bar to me. Don't let that prevent you from visiting a place with great atmosphere and good people.

We dropped in on a Tuesday evening (around 9:15pm) and it was busy. There was a private event upstairs so the inside was packed. Luckily, we were able to snag a table outside beside the heaters. Nice touch with the blankets for you to use if you get cold. Only downside is lots of chain smokers but that's at most bars. There were a couple menus but we only were here for beers (€2,50 to €5,80 range). - Tannenzäpfle (€2,50 for 0,33L) - 2x Eifeler landbier (€2,50 for 0,30L) - 2x Bolten alt (€2,50 for 0,30L) Chill, laid back spot to grab a few beers with friends.

Located (as the name suggests) right near the Dom, Domkeller offers good beer (German, Belgian as well as others) in a cozy atmosphere. For me, Domkeller embodies what a bar should be--a relaxed place where you can share a drink with friends and listen to good music (at just the right level) or have a good conversation. The music played here is fantastic and is an amazing mix that just about everyone will enjoy. They also regularly have concerts--I'm sure this place gets packed for those! Prices for drinks are very reasonable and the place is a bit of a dive. As one of my classmates says "Hubi is good for beer in the bottle". I don't know that it's actually dirty but it is...a bit dingy. Sometimes though, that's ok. There aren't a lot of options nearby and Hubi will help you out when you need a beer.
