The fireplace was perfect, as well as the choice of snacks and drinks. But the star of the show was Laurie. She actually listened to what I wanted and gave me the massage I asked for. Most therapists ask what you want and then end up doing their routine anyway. She was fantastic. All the staff were great. Who knew this small spa in Indiana would be one of my favorites in the country?

Her location is extremely clean, to the point that she really didn't have to make very many changes when COVID hit (because her between-client cleanliness standards are already super thorough). The only downside is that she is typically booked solid, so it can be tough to get in quickly. I consider that a good thing, because this means lots of other people also love her services as much as I do. I have started to book 3 appointments at a time so that I get the frequency and time slots that I want.

This is definitely a traditional Chinese massage place - my masseuse could barely speak English, but thankfully I can speak a tiny bit of Chinese, so it worked out great. My schedule has been very busy of late and a lot of muscle tension in my neck and shoulders. Upon arriving in Danville I searched the Internet for a massage therapist that might be available on Sunday afternoon. After calling a couple of numbers I received an answer from Joejin Spa and Massage. A women with an Asian accent answered the phone which I expected thus the name. So I asked if they had and appointments and her reply was yes they had therapist available to come on over to their location with an hour secession would be $60.00 . Upon my arrival I was not impressed with the appearance of the business but I entered and was greeted by a lady who worked there. She asked me had I been there before and my reply was no this was my first time and I would like to have an hour of work. She then proceeded to tell me the $60.00 included a table shower, dry sauna and then body work. When I said I wanted and needed only body work with focus on back and neck I was told that she was only able to work on me for 30 minutes and an hour made her too tired. I said well ok because I was already there. It was cash only and for a 20 minute back and shoulder rub with dry and sticky hands was $40.00. What a joke.

Upon entering, he was not wearing a mask and went for a handshake. I turned down the handshake, he joked about this. During the wait, I asked if he was vaccinated, he stated that he was not, even though he appears to be of the first age group to have become eligible. He offered to put a mask on, but I did not trust his judgement in reference to the vast other personal ways of keeping clients safe. He may be the greatest therapist, but he failed where it currently matters. There are safer ways to reduce transmission AND keep your business open.
