That's where Alex came in. From the moment I walked in, Alex was polite, professional, accommodating, and incredibly informative. I explained that my Sprinter camper van is HEAVY, I've only owned it for about a year, and I wasn't sure if I needed a rotation, balancing, road-force balancing--or possibly even new tires. And trust me, I gave him every opportunity to sell me something. I was completely upfront that I didn't personally purchase the tires--the previous owner did--but they were purchased from Discount Tire. I even told Alex I was more than willing to pay for the road-force balancing if it wasn't covered. Instead of trying to upsell me, Alex spoke with his manager, came back, and told me the road-force balance would be taken care of at no charge because the tires were originally purchased through Discount Tire. Then he gave me even better news: I still have roughly 20,000 miles of tread life left. That kind of honesty says a lot about Alex and this entire location. They easily could have tried to convince the out-of-town guy with the big camper van that he needed four new tires, but they did the exact opposite. If you're looking for a tire shop in Salt Lake City where the staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and actually interested in taking care of the customer instead of just making a sale, this Discount Tire location is the place to go. I don't know why I waited so long, the process of getting it fixed took maybe 30 minutes total (I got there almost first thing in the morning) and because I purchased my tires from Big O and they were under warranty, it didn't cost me anything to get it fixed. They explained what happened to cause the flat in the clearest way. I just never feel silly coming here for auto repair needs, like I have at other places. They told me it could not be repaired and I would have to replace it with a new tire that would cost $380. He also tried to convince me that another tire needed to be replaced as well. I got a quote from Tesla for a new tire and it would be $300 so I simply asked if they could just price match (I believed that my tire would need to be replaced). They could not match it so I went to Tesla. Tesla REPAIRED my tire immediately and I told them that Foothill Tire and Auto Service just told me I needed to get it replaced. They assured me that the nail placement provides an easy repair and even the other tire definitely does not need to be repaired. I usually price tires before heading in and am already familiar with the tires I want to purchase. After making sure they have the tires in stock, I make an appointment, and am usually done within an hour or so. Discount TIre has a drive up area where they will check the air pressure in your tires for you, and add some more air if necessary. They will also do a quick inspection of your tires to see how they are wearing and if you may need them rotated soon. My last tires were Yokohama and did not last anywhere near as long as they should have. Luckily, with their warranty, I was able to receive some money back, and used that to help purchase my new set of tires. Discount Tire does have a plan that you can pay a small fee for each of your tires, and they will fix or replace any tire that is not fixable if the tire doesn't function properly. I feel that I can trust the professionals at Discount Tire for all of my tire needs and services.
