Poor service and even with an appointment they are overbooked. Waited 1.5 hours for a tire rotation

I almost always bring my cats here for any type of tire service. Great service and great prices

1700 miles after Discount Tire balanced and rotated my tires I was driving down I15 and suddenly the car started to shake violently. I was able to get the car across 5 lanes of traffic to the shoulder. Getting out to see what I assumed was just a flat tire, I saw that 4 out of the 5 studs were sheared off and only 1 lug nut was holding the tire on. I called Discount to tell them what happened since they were the last to touch my tires and they said to have the car towed to their shop. Upon getting the car there they said they couldn't do anything about the studs and refused to help in any way or own up to the issue. They said they only guarantee things like this for 500 miles and since I had driven 1700 miles it wasn't their responsibility. Now it looks like I am paying out of pocket for a repair that seems to be from an issue on their end. My family and I won't be going back to Discount tire after buying tires for our entire fleet there over the last 20+ years. Would highly recommend going with another tire shop. read more

I call ahead and make an appointment to get a low tire with a screw in it checked out. The gentleman on the phone is friendly and enthusiastic and welcomes me for the time I choose. I end up needing to come in 30 minutes later, so I call again and a different gentleman I speak to lets me know there was one vehicle that came in but it was no problem and he accommodates me perfectly. When I arrive, a red-headed gentleman greets me right away, and they pull my car into the garage. I walk inside, and Francisco, aka Fran, gets me checked in. The staff works on my tire and Fran kept me updated. A link to keep track of their progress is sent to my phone. I work on my phone and laptop using the free WiFi while I wait. I enjoy sitting on a stool with tons of counter space. The counter has a window to look out into the garage. It is snowing hard this afternoon, but the temperature inside Discount Tire is nice and warm. They do not skimp on the heating in here. In less than 45 minutes, my tire was all fixed. A female employee let me know that they got out the screw and one other object. My tire is good to go! I appreciate all their hard work, kindness, professionalism, and excellent customer service. While buying new tires is an expensive purchase, I have always felt that going to Discount Tire, I am treated respectfully and taken care of efficiently. I usually price tires before heading in and am already familiar with the tires I want to purchase. After making sure they have the tires in stock, I make an appointment, and am usually done within an hour or so. Discount TIre has a drive up area where they will check the air pressure in your tires for you, and add some more air if necessary. They will also do a quick inspection of your tires to see how they are wearing and if you may need them rotated soon. My last tires were Yokohama and did not last anywhere near as long as they should have. Luckily, with their warranty, I was able to receive some money back, and used that to help purchase my new set of tires. Discount Tire does have a plan that you can pay a small fee for each of your tires, and they will fix or replace any tire that is not fixable if the tire doesn't function properly. I feel that I can trust the professionals at Discount Tire for all of my tire needs and services. read more

This place is slippin'. I have been coming to this location for almost 25yrs, I live close by. Good customer since they were 1/3 their size, and "Wizard" was in the building next door (which Discount Tire took over). They used to treat me well, but no longer do. Around 10 years ago I would come in needing tires, and they promised "we price match!". In the past 10 years I've come in with a deal from elsewhere, and they have not once matched it. Today was the last straw. I came in needing a new tire put on a wheel. The old tire was delaminating, and egg shaped. The rep behind the counter told me $45 to dismount, mount, balance 1 tire. $45? That's $180 for 4 of them. I was a pro mechanic for 20+ years, and the job takes maybe 35 minutes. I even brought the tire/wheel off the car to them, they didn't even have to put them off/on the car. $180/35min is around $300/hr. Changing tires is not a $300/hr task. You'd think they were Ferrari mechanics. I questioned the rep, and told him that Carlos Tires does them for $20ea. Carlos did 4 tires mounted and balanced for me a month ago for $60 when they were slow. Their price NOW is $80/4. Rep tells me he's never heard of them. OK then. Why don't you call? Rep wouldn't budge. Never going back to Discount Tire, they have just gotten to preying on ignorant customers, fleecing them for simple jobs. Just ridiculous. read more

I took my truck in to get a rotation and balance, when I received my truck back I found that the technicians had removed the finish in an area of my wheel that is visible. To remedy the problem they asked ME to purchase a new wheel since they wouldn't be able to get the wheel to get refinished and match properly and they would reimburse me (cost was $270). I purchased a wheel and provided the receipt. A few days later the website I purchased the wheel from reached out and told me that the wheel was discontinued and not in stock and they were sorry and I never should have been able to purchase the wheel and that the best place to find a wheel would be Ebay. I looked on Ebay and found one but now the price jumped to $434. I Reached out to Burke the store manager and his response is that he will have to turn it over to the claims department and they may say that the $270 is all they will pay, even though his employees are the ones who damaged the wheel and it is no longer in production (I also told them it was discontinued the first day I brought this to their attention). It's not my fault that they damaged the wheel, and that the price for a discontinued wheel is now higher. I also told them they need to make this right and if they didn't then I would be coming after them (My exact words) (in my mind that meant writing reviews and suggesting to anyone I know to stay as far away as possible) Burke immediately turned it to saying he couldn't talk to me anymore because I was involving the legal way and attorneys. NOT ONCE DID I EVER MENTION ATTORNEYS. He got all worked up over a difference of $164. Discount employees damaged the wheel, it's not my fault they damaged a discontinued wheel that will now cost more than originally thought. In my line of work I would pay the difference to make things right. Im more than happy to give a better review depending on how this turns out, but as of now im not real happy about the conversation. read more

They were willing to test a bigger size and see if I could get away with it or if the stock size was best. Kyle especially was direct, knowledgeable, confident, and friendly. I scheduled an appointment the next day in the morning and they had gotten a 3 inch nail out of my tire and patched it within 30 minutes. They were very polite and did amazing in the short time. I used to be a loyal Discount Tire customer. I've bought tires from them for over 20yrs. They've become increasingly inflexible and unwilling to listen to their customers. They their business model is optimized for taking advantage of the passive consumer. They will consistently try to up-sell you. As a car guy, from a car family, we will no longer use them. I have had multiple instances where I know exactly what tire I want and why, and they have refused to help me. We have application specific car setups they are unwilling to mount the tires for us. We need to roll a car around the shop on old tires: "nope can't mount those". read more

They told me it would be 60-90 minutes and after 2 & a half hours they hadn't done anything to fix my tire so I called a nearby tire shop and they were able to help me immediately and I was in and out in 15/20 minutes. This is the 4 time this specific discount tire location has caused hundreds of dollars in damage ending up being thousands of dollars in repairs to the car now. Even with specific reminders the last 2 years to properly raise the car on the blocks so they don't smash and damage the vehicle, heat shield, pipes and whatever else AGAIN fell upon deaf, careless, unprofessional ears. I made an online appointment to get my tire fixed. I was waiting behind a customer that was incessantly talking about his stroke and all the different brands of tires he's had on all of his vehicles etc., Monty the service specialist patiently listened while working in his order. When it was my turn I mentioned to Monty how nice he was to this customer and he replied that he deserved to be heard and listened to. Discount tires has the best customer service especially Monty. I am horrified at the manager Berkins behavior. I made an appointment for new tires and when dropping off the car confirmed it would be ready in an hour. It's now been 1.5hrs and they haven't even pulled it into the bay yet so I asked for a discount and he said "no". I said my time is being wasted this is a terrible experience as I am now late to an appointment and I will ask my credit card company for a refund then and he told me to get off the property or he was calling the police. I'm never going to this location again. If you choose to, make sure to double check their work before you leave. I ordered a full set of their most expensive tires online and set an appointment. When I showed up they said they didn't have the tires. I had to come back a couple days later and waited 45 minutes before they even moved my car into the bay even though they said I'd be out of there in an hour or less. The guy next to me had the right idea and just left once he realized they were going to take longer than they said. Later on that week they called me because they did an inventory check and realized they put one wrong sized tire on my AWD car. I had to show up a 3rd time for them to finally do the job the right way. The best they could do for wasting my time was a $50 refund. I've never experienced this level of incompetence. Ordered wheels & tires online this past spring 2019. They were backordered. Discount tires (John) was always giving me updates. Definitely appreciated. I had them installed the wheels and tires so when I arrived for my appointment, they could just slap them on. Wheels and tires were directional and mounted correctly. They were also very careful not to damage any of my wheels during install. Not much to say, process was fast & smooth. John instantly knew I didn't like people my car so he let me drive my car into the bay. In past years I've had kids stalled the heck out of my car. Well here we go again! I brought my mothers Matrix here In October to have a tire looked at for a flat that was losing air ever few days? So I brought her car In to have this fixed so there conclusion was the TPMS sensor ok $65 this after they damaged her rim from the balancer machine In the center hub part but they didn't do anything about this! So here we are tire was holding air ok for a few days and here we are again I had to air up her tire again just luck she was home and not somewhere stranded! At this point I'm about ready to take this wheel to another tire shop and have them fix this right and pay for It even with the warranty and I also found this TPMS sensor from the dealer for $35 OEM Not aftermarket for what they charged me that didn't fix the Issue! I've been a Discount Tire customer for decades. My prior review was indicative of the service I'd received over the years. Unfortunately, that changed recently. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I ordered my tires through the website. They were delivered to the store a day later, so I made an appointment on the web. When I arrived, the tires were installed without a wait, and the employees were kind and attentive. I was allowed to stay in my car the whole time, and the employees who spoke with me directly were wearing masks. While they all had them, some of the crew doing the work were wearing masks, others weren't. The work was completed in under 45-minutes. Later in the day, I got on the freeway. That's when I noticed a vibration, and the car felt unsafe above 63 MPH. I checked the tires visually and noticed that two of the four tires were missing valve caps, which is something that's occurred at this location numerous times in the past. In fact, I purchased a bag full of replacement caps for that reason, so I replaced them myself. Then I called the store and they said I should return at once. Upon arrival, I was directed to an empty bay. The recheck was started immediately, and they discovered that two of the four wheels had either not been balanced, or had been balanced incorrectly. After about 25-minutes, the job was completed, but correctly this time. Two stars might seem a little harsh, but Yelp calls that a 'meh, I've had better' rating. I have had better results at this and other Discount Tire stores, so I feel it's fair. But it also has me wondering why I'm paying a premium price (compared with other options for purchasing tires), but getting lackluster service. I'll likely explore other options the next time I need tires. read more

Honestly, I wish I could not give this place a one star review they were so bad. On 5/4 I went to go get my tire pressure checked because my tire light came on. The first thing the boy with glasses (yes I'm calling him a boy because of the immaturity that came out of his mouth) said "sorry we're closed" and started walking away at 5:35. Whether if it was a joke or not, it's still very immature and unprofessional. I ended up scheduling an appointment for Saturday 5/7. I went in and they said everything was fine and there was no issue. The next day and my light comes on AGAIN. Not only that, they left 2 of my wheel caps off. So finally today 5/11 I was able to go to the location on Highland Drive (by the way 10/10 customer service) and they found this below... a crack in my wheel :) Wouldn't someone be able find that pretty easily? Not them. They could care less and have the worst customer service. I would not go to them ever again and I would never recommend this location. read more

They always fix my flat tires (average two or three a year!) and are courteous. They give me the best deal on new tires (every two to three years). They are knowledgeable and friendly. It took several attempts for them to get my email address in their system to remind me to get my tires rotated every 6000 miles. But I visit them too often!! read more

I have mixed feelings about discount tire. I've always loved coming to them, and my family of four has come here as well for a long time with their cars. Anyways.. They've always been good to us except this time. I came in multiple times to different discount tires around the city and was told the wait would be 2-3 hours and in order for me to be seen sooner I would need to make an appointment. So I did. I made it for 1pm and came in.. My car didn't even get in until 1:30. So What's the point of making an appointment when I still have to wait? I get it's busy season but come on? Atleast tell people they are expected to wait a bit even after making an appointment so they can plan their day out. TERRIBLE SERVICE DO NOT GO HERE!!!! I am a young women who came in here with my elderly grandpa so I feel very taken advantage of NOT "taken care of" at all. My family has bought three sets of tires here. That's over $3,000 we spent here and were STILL mistreated. I bought a new set of tires. Immediately after they put the tires on, my car was making a TERRIBLE sound it has NEVER made before. So I asked them about the sound and a worker named Alex Bergson, assistant manager, commented "OH MY GOD" like he was annoyed that I asked. Burke or Berg, the manager said it was my brakes and nothing they did. Then my check engine light turned on and my back up camera stopped working. Probably because they messed up my computer system by plugging and unplugging it like 6 times without following the proper procedure. Which is like plugging and unplugging a hard drive. When I asked the manger to politely check it out, he got defensive that it was nothing they did. Even though this WAS NEVER A PROBLEM until I brought I here. Overall, after spending $3,000 you would think they would at least be nice to us. I had to bring it to another shop to get it fixed. I'm definitely going to let corporate know how we were treated here. read more

This place is a joke. I spent thousands of dollars on new winter and summer tires and new rims from this location in April 2018. I was told my tires would be swapped out for free when I made this purchase. Last year they swapped my tires out for free like I was told and it was great! This year they tell me I need to buy sensors for the other 4 tires at $60 a piece before they can install them... the store manager Cally Cason said he would sell them to me for half price. Yay. The manager Cally Cason tells me if I don't like the offer I can go to another store.... so the store I spent $2500 with won't take care of me...... So I spent the $128 because I need my winter tires put on the car. Funny how this location installed them last year without this issue for FREE. So where are my sensors at that came with my OEM wheels when I bought the car. And I'm sure you wouldn't let me drive off with my new rims and tires I purchased April of 2018 without sensors since I was told that you can't install tires without them legally. But I drove out of there with my new rims and tires with no issues??? So I must have paid for new sensors for those new tires? And the original ones that came with the car when I bought it just disappeared.....???? WTF.... this is how you treat people that have spent thousands of dollar with your business. I've been in customer service for 16 years and if this happened at my business, I would've taking care of my customer. So your company let me drive all winter long without safety sensors on my car. Way to keep your customers safe. I will never buy tires or recommend this store to anyone. Do yourself a favor and stay away and go somewhere else. Don't bother having the store manager contact me. Someone from your corporate office can. Maybe they will have better customer service. read more

This location has no idea what they are doing. They are super rude and uninformed they told me I didn't buy my tires at discount tire. I had to call another location and they found out they put the record on my old previous car instead of the car they actually put them on. They wouldn't listen to me at the holladay location and were just trying to make a sale. I drive everyday for work and 3 weeks ago they said I'll need new tires soon when I went to the sandy location today they said I'm fine for at least 50000 more miles. Totally uncalled for worst customer service ever I will never go back. The sandy location is far better and actually listens to their customers read more

My son purchased 4 new tires from this Discount Tire. They talked him into extended warranties, etc. Less than 3 months later, he had a blow out on his way to Cedar City. He had to get the tire replaced in a small town. When he spoke with Discount Tire, they said they would not cover this tire (or the other front tire that was already bald) because it was an alignment issue. They didn't tell him he needed an alignment. He is a college student and doesn't have much extra money. They say they don't do alignments. I guess it isn't a legal issue, because they didn't do the alignment, but I definitely think it is a moral one... They saw him coming and took money he didn't have and then wouldn't help him. I came here with a nail in my tire and literally waited more than an hour and all these people that got there after me came and went with there cars. I finally asked the guy at 45 min of waiting why is my car still parked in the parking lot. And he went and grabbed the keys and told me oh I am taking your car in now after waiting 45 min and told me that's how long I would wait in the first place. So I was there an hr and 1/2 total. I've been going to discount for years from California to Utah and this is the first location I've been too that's been like this. I will stick to my location in Draper. I don't like to be told one thing and then it's another. That's all. read more
