Next went to Los Lobos. While it seems the band played well, the sound was pretty bad. The mix was bad, such as a couple of the guitars were largely inaudible as the whole sound was muddy. The vocals were often times too low in the mix. I don't know if the equipment for a louder RNR show was not up to the task, or the person on the soundboard just did a plain bad job.

The actual…read moreamount of baseball I've watched has been minimal (prior to the Duck Blind's renovation, the area barely even faced the field), but we generally seem to do well as a team. There's lots of entertainment in both the concourse area and during/after the game. There are tons of contests, challenges for prizes, and random entertainment like 80s cover bands and appearances by C-list celebrities. Your best bets for a fun night out is to go with either a family pack special or a Duck Blind ticket. The family-pack style tickets usually get you a reserved seat, a soda, a food item, and sometimes a promo item like a hat. It usually ends up being about $10-$15/person. The Duck Blind is the true draw, though. True, $40 sounds like a lot for a minor league ball ticket, but you get unlimited food and drinks (including a wide range of beer) through the seventh inning. If it's been a few years since your last Duck Blind experience, they've drastically improved seating and have expanded the food menu and setup. Stations are broken out around the ground floor to break up the lines, and many sides are now self-serve. There are several soda fountains throughout the space (including up in the grandstand), and you have your pick of 25+ beers. It's not just cheap-o lawnmower beers, either; there are IPAs, ciders, Great Dane brews, and more. Food choices now include things like BBQ pork, smoked chicken, and boneless wings in addition to your standard burger/brat/hot dog selection. Lines moved very quickly when we went and we were able to find seating upstairs. The sun gets a little hot, but it was nice to have a place to sit considering the length of most baseball games. Other ballpark fun to note: don't miss Maynard Mallard zip lining in to start the game, and cheer for at least five runs scored by the home team so you can trade in your ticket for a free scoop of Culver's custard.

Pumpkins were out front so easy to buy on your way out after playing. Had a variety of food and drink options plus live music and recorded music which was both pleasant and appropriate. Very impressed with a ton of seating - benches, chairs, tables - all over the facility so parents could sit when their kids were playing. Had chickens, goats and dog named Ozzy that the kids loved. Staff was on hand in almost every area to help or answer questions. Activities were well thought out too providing coverage in some for shade and washing stations for messes. Three large slides coming down the hillside were a big hit. We took the wagon ride around the Christmas tree area and pumpkin patch too which was relaxing and nice. Cost to get in was appropriate and cover just about everything except one activity. Additional expenses inside were minimal which was nice. Loved that they had a Toms Coffee truck for the adults and a Kona Ice truck for the kids (PLUS it's allergy safe for my peanut tree nut allergic daughter). Overall A+. Might be geared towards younger kids a touch, but my 12-year old and her friend loved it.

They're listed in the Wisconsin Old Fashioned passport, so we were able to get bogo old fashioned cocktails. We opted for bourbon and were pleased when she offered us any bourbon they stock (as we had expected with the deal, to only be offered rail). They're a barcade so it's not like they have an expansive bourbon list but we were pleased to be able to get Woodford. Our cocktails were beautifully made in the Wisconsin style (except with bourbon not brandy). They were everything a Wisconsin old fashioned ought to be and more. We played some pinball, pacman, and frogger and had a blast. If I were to make one tiny suggestion, it would be to have more strategically placed tables--we were constantly trying to find somewhere to put our drinks while playing. They do have some tables to sit at (as well as the bar itself) and after we were done with video games we enjoyed a couple games of cribbage while finishing up our cocktails. Get to it!

Advertised as a if you could not make it to Harry's concerts in Chicago (I was at the Friday night concert and Harry had been in residency all week) to party here, this Saturday night special event at Hook & Fade was a great post-concert event for me. And I would venture other HS fans in the area who went to the shows. I've never heard of the bar before and I'm not a golf player. In talking to staff I learned they'd been open about a year and the golf simulators rent by time. My party arrived about 9 o'clock and asked for the themed drink menu. We found an open golf simulator room and it had plenty of casual, comfortable seating and tables. Loved the music playing throughout the bar went all the way back to One Direction's first album up to Harry's current release! It was a chill vibe, good volume on the tracks so fans like me could groove but also talk to group members! Not a golf playing group, there was interest in coming back another day to try the simulators. Golfers should come here like now. I liked that there was privacy to each room even through the open concept. Only negative was we went back to the bar to order the fourth of the four Styles themed drinks and were told they were closing. This was 10 before 10 o'clock pm on 10/15/22. So felt a little rushed when we had another hour or two and a try at the golf sim left in us. Hours show midnight now. Going to a bar we expected later hours. You may want to check hours before you go when planning your night!

A friend and I were itching to hit a round, so we headed over to Hook and Fade. He had been there before, but this was my first time. The place is really nice - very clean with a dark-wood upscale feel. They only have a bar - no food, but you can bring some in (or have it delivered). When we were there, it was right at opening, and it was pretty quiet, which I really enjoyed. We selected from the many courses available, and played 18 holes. I loved it. Their simulators have great technology, utilizing two cameras to monitor your swing. The tee platform will tilt and change depending on your lie, so there's an element of realism there. I felt the simulators interpreted my game pretty accurately. Putting on simulators will always be sketchy, but I thought it was acceptable. If I worked downtown, I'd likely get the general membership ($99/mo gets you 4 rounds - 2 off peak, 2 during peak). That's quite the value. I will definitely come here again. I wouldn't say it beats a real, live round of golf - but it's a great "fix" during bad weather, and probably the only way I'll ever golf Pebble Beach, Spyglass, St. Andrews, etc!

The first couple steps were the same (sanding, distressing, staining), then everyone went at their own pace based on their chosen project. My steps included putting three stained pieces of wood together, using an electric drill and screwdriver. I chose to use to dry brush and paint on my board, before adding my stencil with a sponge brush. I was given two handle options, and that was the finishing touch to my project. I am new to this, and while it was a bit daunting, it was rewarding to create and take home a personalized piece! And, a nice way to end the week. Will definitely return to create some more!
