One of the best corn mazes I've been to! We had so much fun with the axolotl maze. It was definitely a challenge, but worth it, and great for any age. I loved all the extra challenges within the main corn maze, like the scavenger hunt and maze within a maze. I'll say, doing the maze in the dark was a lot more of a challenge. I wish I had brought a headlamp, flashlight, or portable phone charger for my phone flashlight. However, the stars and sky were beautiful at night. We couldn't stop looking up! I recommend buying tickets online, they were cheaper than at the door. You could easily add them to your Apple wallet or phone. When we arrived, we walked right up to the check-in booth and staff scanned them very quickly. Off of this, the staff were absolutely wonderful. They were all so kind and I loved how excited they were about the maze. You can tell that the owner has really put a lot of thought into all aspects of the farm, and the experience of the corn maze. I thought the admission ticket was well worth it! If we had come during the day, I would've loved to check out the pumpkin patch because it looked really fun, but the bonfire after the maze was super nice. We loved the hot chocolate also and little snacks for purchase. There were not a lot of food options so make sure to eat before you come! Lastly, make sure you prepare for not having any phone service. No one in our group had any bars with T-Mobile, US cellular, or Verizon. We downloaded the directions ahead of time so we didn't get lost driving home and set a meeting point for our group upon arrival. read more

The corn maze at Treinen Farm is nationally award-winning, and it's really no wonder! If you've never been to one or you know you enjoy corn mazes, this one is a must visit! The maze took us about 2.5 hours to complete. We did not work super efficiently though. This was us leisurely finding all of the mailboxes for the map pieces, 8 different types of hole punching poles, all of the pieces of the "mysterious classified challenge". You'll receive instructions when you get there about these "goals" of the maze. The goal is not to simply find your way out because that would be too boring! These tasks make it challenging! It not only forces you to go through the entire maze, it makes the entire experience a lot more fun! The whole concept is well thought out and well organized. You can expect to walk a lot, so wear some comfy shoes! They also have a nighttime option, where you walk the maze with flashlights. We didn't do it, but that would make this SO much harder!!! Could be fun for corn maze veterans! Before even going into the maze, we spent an extra 1.5 hours petting and feeding the animals outside (horses and goats) and visiting the pumpkin patches. That was pretty fun too! This place is truly a great bang for your buck! Before you go into the maze, I recommend buying their giant bag of kettle corn. It's one of the best I've ever had! It was lightly sweet and still perfectly salty. Plus, for $7, you receive an enormous bag that could easily be shared amongst 6 people! 'Tis the season for fall, and I was disappointed. Corn maze: pretty cool, took about 1-1.5 to complete Food: underwhelming...I've been to other places that have a lot more to offer. I really wanted apple cider donuts and fresh apple cider donuts but we had to settle for premade sandwiches. The biggest disappointment. Activities: They have games (chess, jenga, throw the ring on the hook, gem mining). The farm animal selection seemed pretty small relative to other places I've been. Pumpkins: a nice selection, I can't speak for this as I didn't go here for this. The price you pay for the amount of activities...I think I would go elsewhere. Maybe it was the weather... but it's the first of October, so how could you not be prepared for people to come? read more

Happy October! Tis the season of pumpkins and all things fall. I should probably start out this review by mentioning I left the Treinen Farm corn maze with two severely injured ankles. I wasn't able to walk for about three weeks. But would I do it all over again? Yes! Would I recommend the experience (sans injury) to others? Yes! Would I wear more supportive shoes? Yes! Treinen is your destination for the most falliest of fall in the South Wisconsin area. Treinen is like a big shot of Pumpkin Spice Latte to the face. If you don't feel Fall festive here, you probably never will. The drive from Madison to Treinen took about 40 minutes and was pretty remote. Something a bit spooky for this California girl. Make sure to get gas and bring the essentials. Once there we parked at their large lot across the highway and took the little walkway under the road. We had paid online ahead of time and saved 15% off the admission price of $12.95 ($14.95 on weekends). They also have a Season Pass for $27.50. Note there are credit card fees if paid online. The ticket price gives you access to the entire farm which includes a giant corn maze, pumpkin patches, cute places to take photos, and tons of games and kids zones. There are lots of animals to check out and feed, too. The maze took us about two hours, but we set out with a goal to grab all the checkpoints. It could probably take less than hour for most. Definitely wear comfortable shoes, as this is a real farm with tons of uneven areas and potential trip hazards. If you're coming at night, bring a flashlight for the maze as it is not lit. As we left, they were setting up the bonfires and picnic tables for a private event. It looks super cute and was definitely something I'd look into if I lived nearby. Overall, Treinen Farm filled my need for Fall fun. And a place that I would easily visit annually if I didn't live 2000 miles away! read more

The Treinen corn maze is one of my favorite fall traditions. I have made a special trip every year over the last seven years (even after I moved from Madison to Milwaukee) just to complete the new maze and see what cool pattern they have dreamed up. I love that they have a variety of difficulties starting with the kids maze and ramping up to the hidden hole punches in the larger maze. We always try to find all the hole punches and if we have a large enough group split up into teams and race! The only downside is it can get really muddy if it's been a rainy week so wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty! They also usually have a variety of snacks and I always look forward to their apple cider donuts. The pumpkin selection has usually been good but obviously depends on how far into the season it is. This year they have added time windows and require signing up in advance to limit the number of people at a time. They also have some areas where they require masks and I felt like people were respecting the rules fairly well. They also added a little hike to an overlook that was cool. I liked getting to see the maze from above and get a glimpse of some fall foliage (although we were a bit after peak time). read more

Treinen has of the best corn mazes in Wisconsin! They change the design every year and take a picture of it from an aerial view so you can see all the corn mazes from the past. This year, the design was a bit swinging in a tree house. It was super fun to go through and feels like a treasure hunt. You go through the maze and try to find all the pieces of the map. You can tape them to your map as you go through and if you complete the maze, you get a prize from the prize station. They have a pumpkin patch and a large area for kids to play. It has slides, hay towers, swings, tires, farm animals, and more! I highly recommend bringing kids here if you have any. The only disappointing thing is they don't have their own homemade apple cider or hot chocolate. They also didn't have an donuts or much selection for food, other than kettle corn. For such a large farm and corn maze, I wish they had a better homemade food/drink selection. Overall, a must visit in the fall in Madison! read more

Really hard to find the place due to its location being sort of in the middle of nowhere as it should. Once you get to the farm, you are enthusiastically greeted by the welcoming staff who seemed energetic and happy to be there. Lots of popcorn to snack on while you navigate through the maze and chances to win prizes if you find hidden keys. Fun place to go for an outside rural adventure during the pumpkin season. read more

The maze was super fun, the pumpkin patch still had great choices even after visiting so late in the season, and the farm had a lot of activities for kids and adults! I went with a good sized group of 20-something year olds, and we ALL found some major fun in the experience. It's definitely not just meant for families and small children. The staff and family working this farm were especially thoughtful for the needs of this Covid year. Sign-in for your shift was easy and you could see how many people were coming for your time slot , plenty of signs on the grounds that remind you to keep distance and use masks, hand sanitizer readily available, all staff wearing masks. That said, we had so much fun on multiple outdoor play areas, children's corn maze, the fields had plenty of pumpkins. A happy, safe tradition continues. This is my favorite place to go. read more

One of my favorite places in ALL of Wisconsin. Hands down. If I could give this place a million stars, I would. I have done the corn maze at Treinen farm almost every year since I was a sophomore in high school (although I've yet to do it this year, I'll get to it). It's always a blast. I consider it a chance to meet up with old friends from back home and kick off a great night. The corn maze itself is always challenging, especially if you seek out the hidden hole punches in addition to the map pieces. I like to think I have a good sense of direction, but it's difficult not to get lost. Personally, as an extra challenge I like to run in blindly and try to get my barings after walking around for 10 minutes or so. Bring a flashlight, because once it gets dark it's extremely difficult to read the map and stuff. You can rent a flashlight from the counter where you pay if you forget. Trust me here, the light on your phone isn't going to cut it. The folks that run this place are really awesome, too. You can tell they're committed to running a fun, safe place for people of any age to have a night to just have fun and enjoy themselves together. An extra bonus: I know they've done events here to benefit children with autism in the past. Around Halloween they do a zombie themed night on the farm. The real draw, of course, is the zombies running around in the maze. That night is a ton of fun and it adds a whole different element to the experience. I really recommend it. At this point, zombies are a bit kitsch and passé, but if you can't look past that at Halloween you're taking things way too seriously. I love fall things and wanted to check out a real pumpkin patch. Pros: - They give you an option of only paying for activities that you are interested in. I wanted the pumpkin patch and hay ride but not the corn maze. - Baby animal zoo always great for me. Pigs were hilariously active and horses got involved too. - lots of activities for the kids. Slides, sand boxes, and corn boxes. - Hayride was pretty authentic - Parking very easy and free Cons: - While there wasn't a long line for the outbound hay ride, the line to return from the pumpkin patch looked very long. We ended walking back, which was a really good idea. - sort of small. Based on what you we saw advertised, it looked huge, but it was easy to cover the entire thing in less than 1.5 hours (again, we didn't do the corn maze, so that would add a lot more time) - limited food options - sufficient, but nothing too exciting. Probably would go back, but compared to other pumpkin patches closer to Chicago (see Goebberts or Bengstens), it is a little smaller. read more

Great destination for autumnal fun! The Corn Maze is a spectacular accomplishment every year. You start out with a map that is blank except for one-eighth of an aerial view of the maze. Using this start point, you have to search through the maze for the remaining octants of the map. They give you a little trinket if you succeed in completing the map while also finding eight different hole punches scattered throughout. If that sounds a little too challenging for you and your newborn/toddler, they also have a cool kid's version of the corn maze. A very cool place for people all ages. I would make sure to bundle up! While they do have light refreshments, I would plan ahead if brats, donuts, and powdered apple cider are not your scene. read more

This place is so fun! Came for the Zompocalypse, which initially sounded like my worst nightmare. Not too keen on anything remotely scary, so the thought of people jumping out at me was really making me nervous. We arrived after dark and there was plenty of parking (we lucked out, too -- got a great spot right in front of the tunnel leading into the farm!). There weren't any lines, so we were able to pay ($10 for entry) and move in. Once inside, however, it was a bit confusing trying to find the maze. There was food for sale (tater tots! apple cider! hot chocolate!) and an area where staff explained what we needed to do (complete the map, get as many hole punches as possible, all without opening the key for clues). We were promised multiple Tootsie Rolls as reward! I ambitiously wanted to go around all of the grapes (this year's maze depicts the fable The Fox and the Grapes), but that motivation quickly disappeared. Once we got in, there were zombies gathered toward the front and they were hissing and staring, but... it wasn't scary at all! There were soooo many people in there, you could always hear people walking around. We got pretty confused at first, but thankfully we made it through (and with four hole punches!). One friend decided it was her mission to scare the zombies, with hilarious results. When we got out, there were people milling around by the campfires and some dance music playing. There was also a human-sized Jenga set that provided entertainment. All in all, pretty fun! Warning: it does get pretty muddy, so wear appropriate footwear! read more

Early season means that not quite everything is in full swing at the Treinen Farm and corn maze, but it was still a blast to do on a sunny & brisk September afternoon. The fiance and I took our chances in the maze and filled up our map with all the pieces in about 35 minutes (we didn't really take the time to look for the punches as the sky was threatening rain). A small flock of turkey toms were wandering about the yard and there were lots of fun things for kids to do. Later in the season hayrides, popcorn, pumpkins, etc. will be offered and I'm hoping to return with the little people in my life because it was just great fun! read more

The wife and I spent a gorgeous Sunday afternoon in October at Treinen Farm picking pumpkins and drinking apple cider. After getting lost for about 20 minutes because the farm's address is not registered in TomTom, and because there are NO SIGNS ANYWHERE to direct people to the farm, we finally found the place. (FYI: To get to the farm using your GPS, enter coordinates N 43° 18.246, W 89° 36.971). Parking is free -- woohoo -- and is across the street, but have no fear! To get from the parking lot to the farm, you walk through an under-the-road tunnel, straight to the admission shack. $8.50 for admission and maze, $8.50 for admission, hayride, and pumpkin, or $15.75 for admission, maze, hayride, and pumpkin patch. They offer other "fun" stuff like pumpkin slingshot, "Jacob's ladder," and gemstone mining, but we were interested in only one thing: finding the perfect pumpkin. Treinen's hayrides to the pumpkin patch are authentic, with the wagon being pulled by teams of 2 horses, but they are very short rides and the wait to get on a wagon was surprisingly long (nearly 30 minutes). The pumpkin patch was surprisingly small compared to other pumpkin patches we've gone to, and this size deficiency stood in stark contrast to the farm's advertised "largest corn maze in Wisconsin" claims. That being said, we were both able to find fantastic pumpkins, even though we were there on a Sunday afternoon the weekend before Halloween and had, therefore, expected all of the good ones to be gone already. The kettle corn being sold on-site was fantastic, the apple cider donuts were AMAZING, and the hot apple cider float was actually quite good. Overall, I give Treinen Farm an "A-OK." We had a very fun time, but thought it was a slightly pricey and small for what we wanted -- a big, ol'-fashioned hayride and pumpkin patch. read more

I came with a group of adult friends to do the corn maze. We split into 2 groups and raced to see who could complete their map and find the most hole punches which are hidden within the maze. It was pretty fun. This place has lots of fun stuff to do. It seems like it would be a cool place to take kids for endless entertainment. read more

"Not all those who wander are lost." J.R.R. Tolkien Been coming here every year since 2006 for "Wisconsin's Largest Maze." Sometimes in the middle of fall, it does you good to wander and inhale life. That's why I love a good corn maze. The detail and size of this maze is what really brings me back. The farmer asks customers what ideas they have for the next years' maze, his wife creates a design, he figures out how to map it, then the whole family cuts the paths. It sounds so simple, but then you get there and see the aerial photo! And then you walk the maze! This is NOT a labyrinth style, so you WILL get out alive. They make it more "game" style by giving you one piece of the map at a time. Like a puzzle, X marks the spot, actually it's a "star," where you find the next piece, and so on, until you exit the maze. This is fine for large groups who are racing around, or people who just want to see the maze and get out. Some people just walk and accident upon the map pieces. I prefer the "extra" game: finding the hidden hole punches, not on the map. It's like a "secret" between the "real" maze runners. Once we find that elusive punch, we smile and quickly, quietly punch our paper, gently replace the punch WITHOUT letting it clang around for anyone to hear, and silently escape the area without being seen, or perhaps a mis-direction for any passersby ("nothing over here"). Some of us give a secretive smile to each other, like a clandestine handshake. The prize for 4 punches is only a picture of this year's maze and a piece of candy, but the hallowed 10+ punch gets a maze pen, frisbee, and the accomplishment that "YES! I did it!" It takes about 45 min to run through the maze, and 2 hours to look for all the punches. There is also a smaller corn maze for the younger kiddos. The other nice part of the farm is the old-style horse drawn carriage ride to the pumpkin patch. It's maybe a 1/2 mile ride, but it's always nice. And I'm not sure what other people are writing about: I don't need a 30-acre pumpkin patch, I just need a good pumpkin patch to pick out "the GREAT Pumpkin," ala "Charlie Brown." "Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere. He's gotta pick this one. He's got to!" - Linus. Well, this is the one for me. I've been coming 10 yrs now, and only one of those years, the wet summer of 2010, the pumpkins were all smushy, but that was a hard year on ALL pumpkins everywhere. Other items: every year there is a new addition to the "kids" area. It's really getting big. This year I noticed pony rides! They have a 40 ft slide, tire mound playground with tunnels/crawl space, games: slingshot a pumpkin, rope a plastic cow, Jacob's ladder, and some inside the barn walk through (I haven't been inside). There's also a little hot dog truck (local Kiwanis club type stuff) and kettle corn vendor, with a picnic area. The farm sells APPLE CIDER DONUTS and their MAZE design T-SHIRTS! Also, hot chocolate, cider, popcorn (little bags), candy bars, jams, relishes, water, pepsi products, fall squashes, mini pumpkins, and pumpkin decorating supplies. Maybe Chicago area has more Disneyland-gimmick farms at lower rates with great parking lots and manicured lawns, but this is an authentic farm and farmer, who has his family out helping bring fall fun to your family. Prices did go up this year, and I really wish the prize for finding the hole punches was just a free little bag of popcorn again, but I just dare anyone to try NOT to look for those hole punches. It's addictive once you find one. Get lost in the maze, stay for the donuts, and find your "Great Pumpkin." read more

I cannot say enough about how much I love this place. My family and I go out each year (often more than once) to make our way through the corn maze. It is a fun activity that the whole family can enjoy from the little all the way to the big! We often stay afterwards for the yummy food and bonfire. The staff is always friendly and it isn't too far to drive from Madison. When the kids were smaller we would go during the day and the scenery can't be beat. Now that they are grown we like to go at night. It makes the maze harder and adds a creepy element. I have three out of the house and one still at home. It is one of those things they ask about even now that they are grown. This place is a treasure that I always tell my friends about. read more

Came here with a group of friends for their Zombiepocalypse corn maze event. They have a good parking lot setup with a tunnel that goes under the main road so you don't have to play human frogger in the dark. They have Square readers so you can pay with credit card for admission. There were fire pits scattered around the main area so you could warm up. They had a DJ (?) playing loud top 40 hits and it felt like a high school barn party (not in a good way). The corn maze was pretty challenging at the beginning because all the zombies were camping out there trying to scare people, but once you got past the second mailbox it was pretty easy. There were the usual people being dicks and not following any of the posted rules, so that was annoying. I thought that doing the maze in the dark with zombies following you around would be scary, but it wasn't. Still had fun solving the maze in the dark though. I'd bring a headlamp next time. read more

Pretty neat place, the weather was great today so I guess we should have expected it would be PACKED. Greater than an hour wait in line for the horse drawn wagon ride to the pumpkin patch, activities were all very busy. Not everything was incl in the wristband we got- Jacob's ladder, bounce house, etc. were an extra dollar here, dollar there x three kids and the price was $8.50 to start (Incl pumpkin)- I thought it only didn't incl the maze and pumpkin launch, didn't realize there'd be other extras. SO it was an okay experience, not sure we'll do it again though. read more
