What a wonderful place! The smells were fantastic. Our group of four were given a tour of the factory with history and demonstration of the chocolates being made. Afterwards we got to sample a couple pieces and simply HAD to buy some products to take with us. Being from Tampa, I wanted to buy the Chocolate Alligator, but my wife talked me into smaller purchases. Staff was very gracious and accommodating, answering any questions we had. It was a very pleasant way to spend 45 minutes in the factory. Only problem is - when I walked out I had gained a pound just from the smells!!! ;-) read more

Stopped in to see all the goodies shortly before Thanksgiving. Such an amazing variety and lovely presentation, and some really nice gift items for the holidays. The staff were very friendly and we were promptly offered a sample when we walked in! Hubs and I each chose a few things to enjoy with a coffee and all were delicious!!! I had the dark chocolate raspberry cream, a dark chocolate raspberry truffle and a dark chocolate marzipan. Yum! Next time I'll try to remember to take pics! read more

This was my first visit to Angell & Phelps Chocolate Factory and it won't be my last! The handmade chocolate is delicious and there is big selection to choose from. The displays are separated into Dark, Milk, White, and Sugar free chocolates, which makes it easy to find what you need quick. The staff do an excellent job packaging these fine chocolates into boxes and wrapping them for gifts. There are also many prepackaged chocolates for sale. Today we purchased a few of the chocolate crosses ($2.95), and chocolate scripture bars ($2.49) to give to friends for Christmas. I would have bought more to take home, but we just purchased a bunch of chocolate in Deland, so I had to contain myself a bit. Some of the other items for sale that sparked my interest were the chocolate covered Twinkies ($3.75), chocolate covered bacon ($3 big piece), chocolate covered potato chips ($11.95 for 1/2 lb.), the holiday Oreo's ($1.50), and the chocolate sea shells ($1.95). Yes, I have to agree with other reviewers that it is a little expensive; yet there are deals to be had. Plus, your getting quality over the corn syrup crap you will find in commercialized brands. While we were here, we were able to see the chocolate makers in action. If you follow the hallway down past the main counter you can sneak a peek at the chocolatiers at work. The staff were also nice enough to let us try samples while we shopped. All-in-all this is a great stop while shopping on Beach Street. What is not to Love about chocolate. This is one of the best chocolate shops I have been too. They have a great assortment of molded chocolate that makes great gifts to bring home. I got a number of palm trees and chocolate starfish to give to the flight attendants on my way home. They were a hit.... The chocolate truffles and Carmel's were awesome. Shop is located in a quaint area of Daytona and is a must see. They have a chocolate factory in back where you can watch treats made. Additionally they give out free samples. Took my wife here during our November vacation. We are a big fan of See's Candies, since we are from Colorado, but since they did not have one in Daytona Beach, we decided to try them out instead. The staff were very cordial and even offered a free sample. This will be the first time my wife has ever given a compliment to any chocolate shop not named See's. She purchased a box of assorted ones, along with two individual chocolate alligators and turtles. She exclaims they are even better than See's, except for the peanut butter one. The best part for me is the veteran discount they offer. Highly recommend you stop by. read more

Don't hide your real behavior behind "Jesus."Treated me like I would steal pretzels and asked me to leave them at the counter to walk and pick up a sample 5 feet away (while others still had their shopping items in hand). It isn't a good look. Real disappointed to be treated this way. I am a multiple business owner and could not be more offended by your business. Let's bring this one up to the current: The big change here over the past few years is that the guided tours that once occurred, and that A&P were pseudo-locally famous for, are now gone. It's not a big deal in the sense that the tours they offered were free and that you can still walk down the same hallway to the back of the store where the "factory part" is and see the same things. I mean sure it would be nice to have someone there giving you a little context but overall it's pretty straight forward. We were able to hang out for 10-15 minutes and watch a things run down the belt, through the chocolate waterfall and eventually out the other side to be packaged. Pretty neat and IME, most people who come in to shop don't know the rear portion exists or they choose not to see it. One small downside. I happened to notice while watching things go through their manufacturing process that someone here has a thing for central-eastern PA which is fairly near the home office for us. Utz potato chips & Sturgis pretzel rods are clearly what they are using here for their dipped products. I attempted to ask both of the older women out front about why A & P would use products from 1000+ miles away and comparatively such small brands. Neither could tell me why and both looked at me like I was out of my mind for noticing this or even asking the question. Whatever. Either way we still bought some product and overall everything is good. As I'm sure others have mentioned, if you like Hershey's, this stuff to me (a person who doesn't like chocolate) is not even close to the same. Much smoother, creamier and without the slight undertone of bitterness. To me it's better but, ymmv. With this said, some things here are still the same including the pseudo-miserable parking situation on Beach Street which at times is a highwire act of near homicidal proportions when you reverse back into oncoming traffic and the free samples is still an obvious genius move to entice you to want buy the goodness you just got a taste of. Like any type of confection, nothing here is what I would call cheap or even value priced but that's understandable because A & P I'm sure knows what they have and know that their chocolate speaks for itself. Either way like most people who vacation in the Daytona area, this one is a must-do every time we're here. read more

After multiple recommendations we decided to check out this spot during our visit to Dayton. It definitely lived up to the hype. The store is quaint and easy to get to. When you walk in, there is a pleasant smell of chocolate that instantly brings a smile to your face. From white chocolate, milk chocolate to dark chocolate, there is literally something for every chocolate lover. This faith based, family owned business has all of standard items that you would find from chocolatier shop. What makes them so unique is their additional items! They have a whole section of remarkable beach themed chocolates including white chocolate sand dollars and chocolate seashells. They have some novelty items that are unique to Angelo and Phelps. Our favorites were the chocolate covered bacon and chocolate covered potato chips! Don't let the size of the store front fool you. It's actually quite large. In fact, there is a chocolate factory in the back. Due to the pandemic, there are currently no guided tours available only self led tours. So, make sure you go down the hallway at the left side of the store. That takes you back to chocolate factory area where you can see all kinds of chocolate treats being made and assembled. It's very cool to watch. I was intrigued by the process involved while touring the chocolate making mechanism. In addition, the wall is lined with antique photos of the area with articles about Daytona's history. All of this is free to the public. The only cost is for whatever delectable chocolate treats you desire to purchase. If you're not sure what to buy, they will let you sample a variety of items. While I'm sure you'd enjoy anything you try, I'd highly recommend you get the dark chocolate covered bacon and the milk chocolate ruffle potato chips. read more

This wonderful chocolate shop offers a great assortment of chocolates, milk, dark, white. You can start at the back of the store, and through the windows see how the candy is made and packaged. You can always ask for a free sample to see how delicious their creations are. For over 20 years my family has visited here while on holiday. Look for some of their special creations, including chocolate covered bacon, seashells, and so on. The workers are all kind, helpful, and nice to walk with. When in the area the place is a must-visit. This chocolate factory has been open since the 1920s the cool thing about the place is that it has a tour. You can see how they make the stuff through these big windows. It is incredible how many machines and molds it takes.. As a chocolate lover that was cool to see. . . . The chocolate is good. High-quality ingredients are used and you can taste them. I was very happy with my purchase. . . . I wanted to get something to take back home but with these Florida hot temperatures, I was worried that it would melt before I got to Hollywood. I then looked up and saw a sign for fudge. The fudge here travels well it does not melt. That made my day and so I got Rocky Road fudge. It was good and yes it did not melt on me. . . . The store is nice inside. Such a cool place! They have "free, self-guided tours" all day which means you can walk down their hallway and look inside windows to watch the employees make chocolate. The employees seemed friendly and happy to wave when they saw us watching them. At the time I was there 3 workers were making coconut creme balls on the assembly line / conveyor belt. As 1 man put the coconut balls on the belt, we could watch them go under the chocolate fountain and pop out the other end, where another man drizzled white chocolate on top. Then, they went through a long, silver tunnel and a woman was pulling them off the line and weighing them into boxes. She saw us watching and handed us each a coconut creme ball fresh off the line (through a door that leads to the hallway). Awesome! There were so many interesting items to buy like chocolate covered potato chips, chocolate covered bacon, really cute, detailed, and realistic chocolate starfish, sand dollars, sharks, etc. Both times I've been to Daytona Beach, I've been here and honestly, I would make it a point to come back on all future trips and recommend to others. This place was neat. We came for the tour, which was very informative, but also very short. It took about 15 minutes. However, the tour is free and you get samples at the end of it. They make some unique creations, like to chocolate covered bacon and the chocolate covered potato chip. the can make chocolate for any occasion. The chocolate sand dollars are way cool. It would be hard to leave there without buying something. The entire staff is uber friendly. They do ship nationwide, but you would be missing out if you did not come in and pay the ladies there a visit. There is a free parking lot located in the back of the shop as well as free parking on adjacent streets. They both have a three hour time limit which should be more than enough time to thoroughly enjoy this place. read more

I first visited this establishment 7 years ago and final was in town again this week and returned with my wife and daughters. We needed chocolate and what better place to go than a chocolate factory. They offer tours of the factory and offer free samples of their chocolate. The samples are legitimate samples too not tiny slivers but actual truffles or other varieties. That is doing it right! The chocolate is fabulous, dark, milk, and white. Perhaps there are other varieties but those are the ones I bought or tasted. The chocolate covered potato chips are phenomenal! They even make their own marshmallows and dip them in milk or dark chocolate- both are delicious! The wide offerings of truffles was mind blowing. I should have asked how many kinds they had available, because it was several dozen at least. In all we ordered a dozen truffles and some potato chip bark. Definitely worth a visit! I was playing tourist in Daytona with family and we stopped by after hearing they had a chocolate tour. And by "tour" I mean you basically walk down a hallway looking into windows and watching the workers like they are lab rats. The lady hosting the tour was full of information and cheesy one-liners but tourists are her bread and butter. After the tour you're given 2-3 chocolate samples. We were also given a fudge sample when we walked in. One way to ensure people spend money is to give them a free taste! I'm a huge salty/sweet person and gravitated directly towards the chocolate covered potato chips. My husband picked up some chocolate covered bacon and fruit slices. As a chocolate lover and frequent visitor of of chocolate stores, I was pleased to find the prices here a little less than my regular place in Jacksonville. I was tempted to buy way, way more but controlled myself to just a few goodies. Everything we purchased tasted great and I would definitely stop in again when in the area. read more

After spending several days in Orlando we went to Daytona Beach to relax. Found this spot online and the Yelp reviews backed up the hype. The tour is free and at the end you get what you came for, Chocolate! They have a hall you go down to watch everything in action. It's kind of a small facility, but the information is so interesting and the workers are so involved in their work you feel like you're right there with them. We stopped by to see what the free tour was all about because it was advertised so well and we surprised at how many people were there. There are about 3 windows that show you a litttle about how all the chocolates are made and a guide explains the process. At the end you get a choice of two free samples then walk to storefront to buy all the goodies! The free samples re both milk and dark chocolate caramels, honey bee's (aka turtles), bacon, potato chips and I can't remember what else. I uploaded a picture of the free sample choices. As we walked around the showroom, we were tempted to buy all the treats; great marketing strategy lol! So we ended up getting some motorcycle chocolates and these chocolate covered honeycomb crunch candies - which are amazing. I can't wait to come back for bike week and get more!
