It has been 2 days since my experience and I have had the opportunity to calm down.
All in all, the salesmen, nailtechs, took advantage of my daughters lack of knowledge while I was there to ask. I will never be back. Read on if you want to know what happened.
I am new in the area and have been going here for about 4 months, at least 2xs a month. I go with my mother and sister, cousins, nieces and daughter. We often enjoy spa days, even when not needed.
My daughter is 11 and wanted acrylic nails. I refused to get them for her. So she had been working hard to save the money to get them for herself. The price list indicates they are $30. And she picks out the design and she sits with me while I get my pedicure and waits. I have been coming there often now and many know me and say hi. I am half way through my pedicure when they come to get her. They are aware she is there with her mother and she is so excited for her first set of nails. So they know she knows nothing about types and prices.
20 minutes later I am seated for a manicure, 3 rows away from her so we are unable to communicate. 15 minutes later I am done with my manicure and I am able to go and speak with my daughter. That was when I found out that my daughter agreed to gel nails and the total will be $50. My daughter had no idea that was what she agreed to. She can hardly understand the nailtech and she thought she was indicating yes I want my nails done with that design. I corrected my daughter and said this is a learning experience because these are sales people and she needs to ask what everything cost and only get what you want not agree to whatever the people say. Then I turned to the nailtech and said: "Shame on you for taking advantage of a young girl on her first fake nail experience. When you are working on a child and their mother is there you need to check with the mother or parent..." I told my daughter it was fine. I had one more validation on a frequent customer card and I would have $10 off. I would give it to her to use since she was taken advantage of. When my daughter was done the nailtech went to tell her manager and we, my daughter, niece and myself, continue to go get our eyebrows waxed.
We went to check out and the manager was right there, she sits there. I pay and get my final validation and I hand the card to my daughter and the manager comes and snatches the card says she can not use it on the same day as the validation. My mommy horns come out and say what do you mean, my daughter was taken advantage of, blah, blah and I was fine with it because I knew I had this coupon. Now you are going to tell me I can't use it. I don't mind paying for something, my daughter didn't know, communication error, but now the blow is not softened because you are not allowing me to use this coupon. You should have come up to me to try and make it right as soon as you heard I was upset. And instead of saying no I can not use that card you should have explained that you can't use them but will make an exception since we are unsatisfied.
I said look at this card, I am here often and I will not be back. I do not believe in the customer is always right. My daughter did not know what she was saying and the nailtech took advantage of her. I should have been allowed to use the coupon.
Words were exchanged, they are very unprofessional, sales people, take advantage of children that have no experience and no idea what they are talking about. I left without tipping, I am sorry for that, the nailtechs can thank their manager/owner for that. Especially since I am a big tipper.
Here is a tip for the nailtechs: Of course, ask a parent what the child is having done and 2 you will get better tips if you give actual massages not just slap the lotion on and you are done. read more
