Service was great, she kept my water full because my mouth was a little on fire from their salsa- yummy with a kick. Food so good I went twice in one week. The flour tortillas didn't seem homemade, and both salsas were a bit too thin for my taste, with the red salsa leaning slightly sweet. Tiny restaurant with huge flavor. Located on the south side of San Antonio this place is always busy. And it has another restaurant right across the street. Angelica's is a little hole in the wall on the South Side and looks totally unassuming but they are so good! Everything is always hot and fresh and their corn tortillas are both delicious and way bigger than any other corn tortilla I've ever had. And the best part is that they make them super toasty which adds even more flavor! I don't care what time of day it is, you can get chicken or beef caldo, (I got chicken, so good!) and their breakfast tacos are delicious. The only thing I don't like is that they use American cheese instead of cheddar or a Mexican blend. Great food, absolutely recommend their breakfast tacos and enchiladas. Wait staff is always so friendly regardless of how busy it is. I would recommend getting there early since they are super busy every time I've been, it's a smaller location but they are opening another one across town too. They have extra parking just across from the restaurant since parking gets full quickly. It's a busy spot that will get noisy but the food is too good to pass up on. read more

Went to eat here and the food is decent. So this review is based on the business nickel and diming people. I understand there's an up charge for food like avocados or extra cheese etc... BUT when you're going to charge people .50 cents to keep a tortilla on the grill a few extra seconds to make your tacos a little bit better that just blows my mind! If you're going to charge me .50 cents to keep the tortilla on the grill for 5 seconds longer why don't you discount off the cooks that were just standing there? To top it off the place was empty! The enchiladas are a favorite of mine but today I wanted to try something different. Wrong choice all together coming 10 mins after 11 breakfast was cut off. Omg the parking was horrible, so bad that my handicapped auntie had to walk twice as far around cars to even get to the wheelchair ramp with her walker. We get to our table and order drinks. When returning the waitress notices our table is a wobbly disaster. She claimed she would come back to adjust it but never did. The restrooms were filthy! Im talking mop bucket blocking the sink, trash full of toilet paper, no soap in the soap dispenser but they had a bath and body works soap on the sink. Not to mention my taco was full of fat. Totally not happy with this place today. For the amount of customers this place needs better parking and seating areas inside. read more

This spot is small but their portions are big!!! If you're in the neighborhood, you must visit this hidden gem. You could never go wrong with the Carne asada al la mexicana or their enchilada plates. Rephrasing, their plates haven't disappointed me yet! I would warn you, as I failed to inform my hubby from the northern states, unless you plan on immediately relocating your puffy taco ... chalupas... or crispy tacos from the magical sauces on the plate... eat them first. I waited there at the table. Looked at about 3-4 waitresses to see which one would take my order since I didn't know which section I sat in. Then I see the waitress help the other table, pass me up and never returned. I ended up getting my order to go since no one deserved my tip for their service. I tell them i want huevo rancheros over medium and I get runny eggs. Not hard to ask for what I want. The salsa was not even spicy and the tortillas were semi warm. I didn't even enjoy my breakfast. I used to come back here younger and thought I come back because I miss the huevo rancheros. Well now I can see what my parents don't come here no more. I won't be going back again. read more

They are my favorite place to go to for carne guisada tacos. Their service is ok. I haven't gone much since my favorite waitress, Jackie stopped working there. The other ladies always have bad attitudes so it has really kept me from going as much as I used to. I just pick up my tacos to-go now. The place is small so if you expect to bring your whole family make sure it's less than 5 people because they can't accommodate a big party of 10+ people. read more

Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow! For all you upity folks go away. But if you happen to be upity and like good food. Please go here! It's south San Antonio. Let me tell you though this place is authentic AF!!!! Spanish is the first language and get ready to catch the sleep-Itis. The chips, salsa is so refreshing from regular ol Tex mex places. Sweet tea is just as delicious. Now for the main courses. Our coworker suggested this Angelica's 2 because he is a "VIP" he has his own entree named after him. #Juan is the meal. It's a lot of food. I opted out because I had a long drive back to Austin. So I just got two beef enchiladas with rice and beans. Pic below. My other coworkers ate the #Juan. Every last drop was flavorful and delicious. The refills kept coming on the tea. You're going to need it for the salsa. It's like being at Tia's (auntie) house. The good tia that spoils you. Lol. So if you can get over the plastic table cloths and very loud Hispanic music (which to me made the atmosphere just as grand) YOU have to stop by and enjoy. We have been coming here for over 10 years and never had a problem till today. Waitress was so rude while I was trying to order she walked off while I was about to give her my order then I asked for a certain plate and I'm not one to complain it it was a little to spicy some guy comes to my table tells me that the most expensive plate and he is not taking it off my bill, I didn't even ask for that all I was letting him know was that it was way to spicy and to exchange for something else then he said I can get you something else but you will be charged for that as well and still have the other plate on my bill. This is a delicious spot! We came to To San Antonio for vacation, and we were looking for an old restaurant we use to get to on New Braunfels Ave calles Angelina's (we think). Well this was a very happy accident. The puffy tacos and picadillo were fantastic! The service was fast and friendly, but back to the food.... the barbacoa May have been a little too salty, but the other food was fantastic!!! The tortilla were delicious, the picadillo was , and the puffy tacos made me crave some more! The salsa was pretty good, and the lemonade was such a good mix of sweet and tart. We are headed back right now, so I will give another review if it isn't up to par at our second visit. read more

Their cheese enchilada plate is partially my reason for staying in this city. They are at the top of my list for mexican food and when I'm in there area they are the restaurant I frequent. You will dream about their enchiladas after you eat them, they are that good. I've actually never tried anything else here but other guests I've taken with me have nothing but good things to say about their crispy/puffy tacos, caldo, and carne guisada. Parking is hard and I've admittedly driven around the block several times just to eat there. They really should try and expand since they are a very popular restaurant.
