This is one blowout bar in Las Vegas that I will absolutely be skipping in the future…read more
I walked into this salon excited to try somewhere new, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing from beginning to end.
First, I was informed that there would be an additional $20 surcharge simply because I have curly hair. When I asked why, I was told it was because they "have to use more product."
I'm sorry, but how does that make sense? I've visited several blow-dry bars throughout Las Vegas and have never once been charged an additional fee simply because of my hair texture. What about clients with extremely long or thick hair? Wouldn't their services potentially require more product as well? Are they also being charged extra?
If you're going to market yourself as a scalp bar that caters to different hair types, your pricing and services should reflect that inclusivity. Charging customers extra based on their natural hair texture sends an incredibly disappointing message. It's 2026 and apparently they're only comfortable performing services on individuals with straight hair. Do better!
Unfortunately, that was only the beginning.
I arrived at the salon with my daughter, who was simply accompanying me. I was the one receiving the service, not her. After sitting on a bench near the front of the salon for approximately 20 minutes, a woman approached me and informed me that they do not perform services on anyone under the age of 12.
Naturally, I was confused because I had never requested a service for my daughter.
Rather than clearly explaining their policy, several employees gathered in the back of the salon, seemingly discussing the situation. A few minutes later, another woman approached me and asked, "Can you have someone pick her up?"
I was absolutely flabbergasted.
So, let me understand this correctly: children aren't welcome to sit quietly while their parents receive services, yet animals are permitted inside the establishment?
I've brought my daughter with me to numerous salons throughout Las Vegas without a single issue. If this establishment has a strict no-children policy, that should be clearly communicated before an appointment is booked, not after a customer has arrived and waited 20 minutes.
What bothered me most wasn't simply the policies themselves, but the way the entire situation was handled. The lack of communication, professionalism, and basic customer service was astonishing.
Between the additional charge for my natural hair texture and the uncomfortable way my daughter and I were treated, I left feeling completely unwelcome.
A salon experience should leave customers feeling relaxed, respected, and valued--not singled out, embarrassed, or inconvenienced.
Response to the Lovely business owner:
You had an opportunity to simply apologize for the unprofessional behavior of your staff and acknowledge a disappointing customer experience. Instead, you chose to respond with BLATANT LIES AND misrepresentations of what actually occurred. That is an incredibly poor decision, but unfortunately, it speaks volumes about the leadership, professionalism, and overall culture of your establishment.
Let me clarify a few things.
First, regarding your claim that charging an additional $20 for curly hair is an "industry standard."
I have lived in Las Vegas for over five years and have visited numerous blow-dry bars and salons, including Drybar, Sassy, Soak, Fibre, and several others. Not one of these establishments has ever charged me an additional fee simply because I have naturally curly hair.
Second, your claim that your staff moved stations or made accommodations for me is completely false.
Your staff did not move stations to accommodate anyone. In fact, I was barely acknowledged when I entered your salon. My daughter and I sat on a bench near the entrance for approximately 20 minutes before anyone even approached me regarding my appointment.
Third, regarding your unnecessary comments about my childcare arrangements:
I have absolutely no issues arranging childcare, but thank you so much for your concern, pumpkin!
My daughter had just gotten out of her private school day and was sitting quietly beside me on the bench, enjoying a snack and sipping her water. She was not disruptive, misbehaving, or interfering with anyone's ability to work.
To suggest otherwise is yet another misrepresentation of what occurred. And honestly, for what purpose?
Lastly, I want to address your accusation that I disrespected your staff.
That is completely untrue.
I did not disrespect, insult, or mistreat anyone in your establishment. What I did do was make it clear that I expected my $50 appointment deposit to be refunded, considering your your salon was unwilling to proceed with my scheduled service.
As a business owner myself, I find your response particularly troubling.
Professionalism, accountability, and respect should start at the top. Unfortunately, your response demonstrated a disappointing lack of all three.
